Transit Intelligent Transportation Systems Year 2000 Problem Transit Intelligent Electronic Fare Payment (EFP) systems use electronic communication, data processing, and data storage techniques to automate manual fare collection processes. Electronic fare media are capable of storing information in a read and/or write format. Currently, several larger transit authorities have implemented EFP systems to allow customers to use a single fare card to pay for transit and/or parking. As EFP systems evolve, customers may be able to use a single card to pay for tolls and retail purchases and to conduct Automated Teller Machines (ATM) transactions. Many other transit authorities are planning to deploy EFP systems.

Paul Lukez Architecture Montreal's streetscape. Likewise, much of Montreal's highways and subwaysystems are partially or completely concealed. All of these http://www.lukez.com/montreal.htm
Extractions: Editing the Text: Presently the forces critical in projecting urban energy in Montreal are concealed. The underground pedestrian network is partially or completely removed from Montreal's streetscape. Likewise, much of Montreal's highways and subway systems are partially or completely concealed. All of these movement systems are a great source of energy and vitality especially if the connections and interrelationships are made evident in the urban fabric. This design proposal suggests that through a process of partial excavation, these submerged systems and their relationship to one another can be revealed and embellished. Not only will this serve to generate urban energy, but it will help orient both pedestrians and drivers to what at present appears to be an artificial environment.
