Challenges to a Gay Life in the Early 1990s
Stan Leventhal's novel gives a fairly accurate depiction of what it was like to be a gay man of the Baby Boomer/Sexual Revolution generation inManhattan in the early 1990s. Stuck in a going-nowhere relationship andliving in a tiny apartment in the West Village, the narrator (whose name isnever mentioned, or at least it is not mentioned often) has to come toterms with being HIV+, after having lost many close friends himself. Thebook is an interesting glimpse that should have been a lot longer. But, itis the last writing Leventhal did before his own death. Some aspects of thestory seem awfully abbreviated, especially the narrators very quickacceptance of his HIV+ status (there are many other better books on thattopic). But, Leventhal touches on a lot of challenges facing a gay NewYorker of his generation in the early 1990s: bad bosses, alienation fromheterosexual siblings, issues with parents, gentrification, and losses onmany levels. The writing styles change from one chapter to the next, butit's a quick read and not unworthwhile, as the protagonist faces hisproblems and manages to keep optimism in sight.

Children's section book
Upon opening the amazon package in excitment I was shocked to see the book was bound like a child's hardbook. I opened it and was completely disappointed in that they even published this book it gives an overview like all other skydive books but has titled it "Team Skydiving". The book was 47 pages long and 10 pages of it were about what a team skydive looks like. It had a picture and an excerpt of what kind of skydive they were doing. It gave no real purpose for what the book should have been about. I would not recomend this unless you are showing it as a picture book to a 9 year old. ... Read more
