This will get the boys reading!
I purchased this for my 8 year old nephew, who is a soccer nut!It is his first Matt Christopher and he loves it! He is asking for another soccer tale to read.There is no better testimony than that!

Soccer Scoop is Great
I really enjoyed this book because there were characters that were my age and the author is a really good writer for kids around the age of 7-12 years old. Matt Christopher, the author, is a really funny writer and I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes comedy books, soccer books or anyone who likes the author.

At the end of the season the cougars had won the championship game in soccer.The part that I liked the most in this book was when the cougars won the championship game for the school.The part that I didn't like the most was the cartoons in the papers that were making fun of Mac in the book.The effects on this book made me want to read more books on this author.I recommend this book to kids of the age of 10-13 who like sports a lot.

One of the greatest books
I have read many books that I enyojed but when I read Soccer Scoop I couldn't think of a better book. Soccer Scoop is one of the best books and also it's written by one of my favorite authors,Matt Christoper. This book is about a boy named Mac who's the best goalie of the season and one day when he was going to school with his friend Doggie,that is his friend all of a sudden when they entered the school everybody started making fun of Mac. The author Matt Christoper sets the scene at the soccer field where a loy of mac;s games go on. A young fan's guide to soccer
This mini coffee table book is a must for any world soccer fan, young or old. Filled with hundreds of photographs, profiles on the seventy-five greatest players, forty legendary teams, and key competitions around the world, including the World Cups, this is the ultimate info book on soccer. Chapters include how to play to game and what to watch in what Pele called the "beautiful game." I must have watched at least thirty games this summer, including many at San Francisco's Civic Center on a big screen with hundreds and even thousands of other fans. This book helps capture that excitement, celebration, and even despair of this great game. I could tell Gifford is a real fan, he really loves soccer, and his love of the game came out in the book.

Geared toward the American soccer fan (everywhere else the game is called "football"), this book would make an ideal holiday gift. Filled with text boxes, lots of photos, and pleasing visual look, this is the encyclopedia for all fans, even the young ones.

i'm 34 and i enjoyed the book
So this book is designed to entertain the minds of young kids.I didn't know that until after i read the book.This book lacks a lot of the details about the game of soccer, but it gives a decent overview of the rules and strategies.The pictures are really great and in full color.Throughout the book, websites are mentioned which will lead you to all kinds of detailed info on soccer.The book also describes records for numerous categories, like goals in a game, most red cards in a game, most own goals in a game(139!), etc.
The second half of the book highlights individual players as well as great teams over the history of the sport.
In conclusion, this book is not designed to teach you how to play soccer, it's not going to help you improve your game, it's not going to show you how to kick a ball properly, or how to properly play defense.It's some cozy reading material to give you an overview of the history of soccer.4 stars instead of 5 because i like details!

A great overview of soccer history.
Unlike other soccer books which can be narrow in scope and range, Murray's book attempts to take us beyond the borders of South America and Europe and examines soccer all over the world. It also examines political and social affiliations attached to the game. The appendix has major soccer disasters covered,tragedies involving players,major soccer grounds,FIFA membership,Soccer at the Olympic Games before 1930,The Growth of the World Cup,and The Growth of Various Youth Tournaments. It also has a useful Glossary which is a must for any observer, casual or hardcore fan of the game. It would be a good introductory book for someone learning about soccer history because it has plenty of useful anecdotes that illustrates the game's colorful and controversial history.

This book is decent
This book is supplementary at best in its conditioning program. The conditioning shown does not include enough variety to fully develop mature athletes.

Informative and to the point
This was my first year teaching high school soccer. After thorough research I develop a preseason workout, a season workout, and a thorough stretch routine.I did not suffer one muscle injury this year and I think that the stretches had a lot to do with this. Overall, This book has many great ideas and if you need a little guidance this is definately the book for you.
