Wholesome and Educational Book on Karate
With all the senseless violence in publications, it is a pleasure to find the wonderfully wholesome book Karate Is For Me by Fred Neff.After reading this book, it is obvious that this author understands children's needs and parents' concerns.He has written a beautiful story about a little girl, Becky, and her personal journey through the Asian art of karate.The book provides pictures that enhance the narrative in telling the story.I like the way the character in the book, Becky, interacts with the other people in the story and their very positive attitudes and experiences in karate and with one another.This book elevates karate to a very high level activity that is both wholesome and educational.My sister's children enjoyed the book so much that she ended up getting another copy to give to my daughter, who adored it.After reading the book, my daughter's interest in karate blossomed, so my husband and I bought her a copy of Fred Neff's Basic Karate Handbook.She now has several other books by Fred Neff and is enrolled in a karate school, where she finds enjoyment and satisfaction.As an adult with strong values, I greatly appreciate the book Karate Is For Me.It gets my highest recommendation. ... Brief profiles of great receivers that are now part of the history of the game
This book for young people was a look back into my earlier years, for I didn't begin to follow pro football until the 1970's and have not followed it a great deal since. I remember watching the receivers profiled in this book and they were all amazing. Their styles were quite different, from the incredibly athletic and graceful, to the amazing foot speed and to the apparently plodding yet always managing to be open.
The receivers profiled are:

*) Harold Carmichael
*) Ahmad Rashad
*) Drew Pearson
*) Lynn Swann
*) John Stallworth
*) Steve Largent
*) Wesley Walker
*) John Jefferson

Some of these great players were late bloomers, working hard to make something of themselves after they left college. Their stories are inspirational; showing that even in football the belief in yourself is your most important asset. While the modern young reader probably will not recognize any of these men as football players, their stories are part of a great history and are well worth reading.

Karting -racing fast little cars
In the middle of the summer Ingles made the first little car. It had a lawn mower engine, the wheels were a foot and a half round. The frame was three feet long, and it had a leather seat. Basically it was made of metal. Then his cousin wanted a little car too. So then people started buiding their own little cars. Next came racing. There were three kinds of racing. First came sprint racing.

They would race on a one mile track. Second came Super Kart racing. They would go on a three to four mile track with twist and turns. Third came Ice Racing, the cars would have nails stiking out of the tires so when they raced around the track it would give them grip. Super kart racing is different because 1 to 20 cars could race. The other races only go up to 1 to 10 cars in the race. I like this book because it told me a lot about cars. ... Read more
