Extractions: City Services Yard Waste Diversion Yard waste diversions reduce our reliance on landfills, while also protecting and enriching the environment by creating usable compost. Yard waste includes any natural material collected during the care of lawns, gardens, vines and trees. The City is not required to pick up yard waste placed at the curb, unless it is part of the curbside composting program or curbside chipper service. Dumping yard waste anywhere within the City, including public property such as parks, is prohibited. Curbside Chipper Service Residents should place tree and shrub trimmings next to the curb or at the end of the driveway. Roots must be removed. Trimmings should be a minimum of four feet in length with a maximum diameter of eight inches. Yard resources recycled into wood chips are used in street landscaping and City parks. The Chipper Service runs year-round. Curbside Composting Dublin residents are required to separate yard waste from other refuse and garbage. To participate in the curbside composting program, place yard waste at the curb in 30-gallon biodegradable paper bags (no plastic bags) or a trash can designated for yard waste only. Branches must be bundled with twine or string and cannot exceed four feet in length or 24 inches in diameter. It is not necessary to place bundled branches in a bag or trash can. Containers or bundles cannot exceed 50 pounds in weight.

Extractions: Much information in these pages has come from the squirrels themselves who will tell what they need every step of the way to one who is attuned to them. One of my greatest teachers was my Mama squirrel who came to me wild from the yard and thought she'd "get in on some of this food" I was doling out to those in captivity. She taught me a tremendous amount about squirrel motherhood for 5 years until a car took her life. I have also learned a great deal by observing squirrels in my yard after they have been released: how mothers will vigorously defend and protect their babies, sometimes losing the battle and leaving their own orphaned; the males who are so busy knocking each other out of the trees when they, themselves, are in "season" that the females are virtually ignored; and the wooing, courtship of a male presenting his big, bushy, gorgeous tail to a female rather than his face (because she will slap it)!

Planting Trees And Taking Care Of Them Now you have a basic understanding of why organic lawn, trees, and yards You alsoknow that you can change your yard from a chemical Green Guide to Lawn care. http://www.treeplantingguide.com/
Extractions: Trees are planted on lawns so often that you probably take their peaceful coexistence for granted. They may seem like natural companions, but they are not. Each weakens the other so that both of their immune systems are compromised. Fortunately, you can help the immune systems of both by observing and mimicking nature. Organic Yards The best kind of yard is an organic yard. Pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers are harmful to the environment and your yard. They destroy beneficial microbes that live in the soil. These microbes are essential to the immune systems of your lawn, trees, and other growing things. Destructive diseases and other pests attack weak plants with compromised immune systems and are a symptom and contributor to a plant's decline, not the cause. The cause is usually a whole range of problems, such as the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the wrong soil pH, or plants that aren't naturally compatible. Understanding Plant Relationships Walk through a natural forest and observe how the trees grow and what grows under the trees. There is very little grass because there isn't enough light. The lower branches of the trees are missing because there isn't light for them either. Both grass and trees need light because they both use the sun to turn water and minerals into carbohydrates and other necessities. This is done through the process of photosynthesis, which we will review later.

Tree Care Usually when people do try to take care of them they hire wrong with that red oakin the back yard or the things that you should look for in your trees and how http://jjlandscaper.tripod.com/trees.html
Extractions: Introduction A widely overlooked area of the landscape is the old existing tree in your front yard, or anywhere else. These plants ad tremendous beauty and value to your property, yet few people take the time to care for them until it is to late. Usually when people do try to take care of them they hire the first two guys with a chain saw to top the tree off. This is the worst thing a home owner or property manager could do. This practice will either weaken the tree further or kill it all together. I can't tell you what is wrong with that red oak in the back yard or the curbside Crimson Maple without looking at them. However, I can help with things that you should look for in your trees and how to help maintain their health and magnificence. The following are lists for what to watch out for, types of pruning, fertilizing, and how to choose people for this type of work. What to look out for in those trees.

Divide your yard up: I put a chain link fence halfway down my back yard. On the lower section I chipped up cedar roofing shingles and spread them around the yard for weed control. (When we re-roofed we priced dumpsters for cedar shingle disposal and priced chipper-shredders. For the same price we bought a chipper, set it for large chips, and chipped up all the shingles. It was cheaper than buying redwood chips. Whenever we know someone who removes shake shingles we can get a few truckloads more to replenish the ones that decompose. It looks good and LESS LAWN! Mower: Buy a mower that has it's own get-up-and-go. You pay a little more for a mower that moves on its own, but it is worth it. If you want to spend the big bucks you can buy a tractor mower. Now that's bein' nice to yourself!
