It even works while you sleep:)
As the author of The TMJ Healing Plan: 10 Steps to Relieving Headaches, Neck Pain and Jaw disorders, and as a physical therapist for almost 20 years, this CD and others by Denise Lynch have been extremely helpful to patients. I work at Canyon Rim Physical Therapy, in Salt Lake City, UT where they specialize in treating headaches, neck pain, and jaw disorders. The PT's there have over 50 years of experience and see patients from surrounding states and have tried many CD's, but this is a favorite. Most patients find these CD's help them learn to relax their face and jaw. Patients often listen to the CD before going to bed, and they report that it even helps when they fall asleep listening, as they wake with less pain and discomfort. Very helpful
I purchased this CD on the recommendation from my physical therapist. I have found it helpful, not only for overcoming habitual teeth clenching while I sleep, but also learning to let go of all my muscles and relax better. I have also found that I seem less vulnerable to getting stressed out when I listen consistently.I have a young daughter who has trouble getting to sleep, and it also helps her go right to sleep. Sometimes my kids fight over who gets the cd at night.

Helpful in explaining condition and treatment options.
This book was very helpful in explaining TMJ disorders and treatment options.The book gives detailed descriptions of the problems the TMJ Disorder can cause.It also describes a variety of treatment options.Thecase examples were also useful because you could see that people hadimproved following treatment.The chapters on exercise and nutrition gavemotivation to exercise and eat properly. ... expensive for what little it offers
As another reviewer states, this could be called a booklet. There are only 69 recipes in it, and many are of the "add a can of cream of mushroom soup" variety.If that's your kind of cooking then maybe you'll like this little book. But if you are a creative person who'd like to find some interesting, satisfying recipes to make (considering the fact that you can't chew so nothing is really satisfying), these recipes will leave you still yearning.

I wanted to like this book because the author seems like a kind and caring person. Perhaps she'll amend the next edition with a few more recipes, a few less laminated kids' drawings, and some more good tips. Then, if she prices it at $9.95, it will be worth it.

long time tmj sufferer
For those of us who suffer this painful disorder any help counts but Becky Coffield (also a TMJ sufferer) reminds us on p. 16 of her book You Can Conquer TMJ: ¨Food Attitudes¨ and I needed to review some of my bad habits which resembled what she use to do also.So I would recommend this book if you need some simple recipes and good habits to create.Although I am tempted to eat the crispy things and hard to chew foods, I know it will cost me a 3-4 migraine or muscle spasm like the author of this nice book.

Overall disappointing
The problem begins with the title. Shortly after the beginning the author acknowledges that TMJ can't be conquered, just managed. She clearly sees cooking as an necessary chore, not a joy in itself and this view also colors the book. There is a lot of emphasis on what is good for you. There is no consistent approach in recipe presentation. And, finally, there are not many recipes for a cookbook; it's more a cookbooklet.

Delicious recipes for tough TMJ days!
Reading the upfront sections about the author's experiences with TMJ makes you realize you are not alone and you are not crazy. The recipes are all "easy to prepare and easy to chew" and include interesting and healthy tips. I wish this book had been out 40 years ago!
