Product Description
Trucks lift, dump, and carry things every day, everywhere. Did you know that...

  • Some trucks can weigh as much as ten elephants put together.
  • Flatbed trucks can carry other trucks, houses, and even a space shuttle!
  • Semitrailer cabs can have a bed behind the front seat so that drivers can pull over and rest on long trips.
  • Road-train trucks pull multiple trailers at the same time, just like a locomotive pulls freight cars on a train.

4-0 out of 5 stars Jason & Trucks
The story I read about was about trucks. I practically love trucks myself, their one of my favorite vehicles besides old hotrods...
This story had all kinds of trucks which do different jobs such as the logging truck, it carries logs to places. I liked the big monster truck...
Trucks come in different sizes and shapes. They can do all kinds of jobs including farm work, help carry building materials, deliver mail for the postal service, and fire fighters use trucks to put out fires.
This book was as good book but it left out a truck, a pickup truck. This truck book was a good book other than the pickup truck they left out.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Simon's best, but good
I too am a children's librarian. I am a big fan of Seymour Simon's books - he always presents interesting information, clear prose, and beautiful pictures. His truck book, however, seems to suffer from the use of file photos as illustrations instead of any pictures taken just for the book. A few of his photos are not sufficiently illustrative of his text - like his photo of a tractor shows only half of a tractor in dim light. Still, there are plenty of young truck fans out there, and you could do lots worse than this concise book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars learn about driving a garbage truck for preschoolers
Driving a garbage truck seems like a swell job the way it is presented in this fun book for youngsters. 5-0 out of 5 stars My 2-year-old's favorite
This is my 2-year-old son's favorite book. We had it from the library for several months in a row and finally had to buy a copy. He loves naming all the different vehicles that are stuck behind the truck, and he now yells "viaduct" when we go by a bridge. The illustrations and great rhymes are engaging. We gave a copy to my cousin's new baby, and his older sisters love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cute book for kids and adults
This is one book that my husband and I don't mind reading over and over and over, which is good because this is my 21-month son's favorite book. My son likes the rhythm of the words; most are one syllable and easy for him to repeat. We love talking about the illustrations and what the different people are doing from page to page. We're ordering our own copy after borrowing it multiple times from the library.

5-0 out of 5 stars My three-year is obsessed with this book
We received this book for my son's third birthday. The vivid and detailed pictures and fun language makes him laugh every time. Six months later he is still asking for me to read it to him many times a week.A truck gets stuck, lemonade is served, the media is called in to cover the chaos, there's an Elvis impersonator thrown in for good measure -- what's not to like? ... 5-0 out of 5 stars If you have a youngster that is wild about monster trucks, you just might want to check out this action-oriented book!
If you've ever seen a monster truck, or better yet been to a show and seen several of them in action this is one book is simply VROOM, VROOM . . .awesome!Michael Vaters' Black Stallion monster truck on the cover of this book will give you an idea of what you'll find inside the covers of this book.If you take a look at Holman's monster truck, the Beast, you can easily point out the difference between a monster truck and other types of trucks.A monster truck like the Avenger will "fly through the air at monster truck shows" and they also can "crush cars."Hey, is the Carolina Crusher sending that "mud and grass flying?"It sure looks like it!

The Swamp thing "looks ready to take a big bite" with the shark teeth painted on the front wheel well, over one of its monstrous tires. It looks plenty mean and ready to roll.In this book you'll not only get to see a lot of fantastic monster trucks, but you'll also learn a lot about them. You'll be able to see some exceptionally large tires, you'll learn why the tires have "thick tread," you'll learn what the frame does, you'll get to see some very unusual bodies, you'll get to see a monster truck engine, and you'll get to see several trucks in action.Among them are the Sampson, the Snake Bite, the Bigfoot, the Eradicator, the Avenger, the Krimson Krusher, the WCW Stinger, the Virginia Giant, and a few more. You'll see them in action doing everything from popping a wheelie and crushing cars, to flipping over on their backs.

This book is targeted toward the young fan who will more than likely spend a lot of time poring over these pictures. There are numerous "hot" photographs of some of the best competitive monster trucks out on the circuits these days, most of which are action shots. In the back of the book there is a "Monster Truck Diagram"and a section of "Fun Facts" such as "Some monster trucks have see-through floors. The drivers can see the tires and the track underneath them."Additionally there is an index, a glossary, and additional recommended book and website resources. If you have a youngster that is wild about monster trucks, you just might want to check out this action-oriented monster truck book!

An interactive, die-cut board book invites young readers to change the tow truck's tire, turn the key to start the engine, steer the wheel, weave through a traffic jam, and hook up a stalled car.Amazon.com Review
"Emergency! Emergency! Calling the Little Green Tow Truck to the main highway, intersection one.... A red convertible needs a tow."

With a little help from young readers, the spunky little tow truck is on the job. Turn the key, put on the turn signal, check the map, and away we go! Maneuvering through a traffic jam, the truck reaches the convertible and hooks it up with a towline, then cranks the handle to lift the front end. Now it's just a matter of slipping past the giant trucks at the traffic light and finding the way to the garage for repairs. This interactive mini board book will enthrall any child who has entered that developmental phase characterized by an obsession with all things truck. Readers pull, flip, flap, and slide the merry green tow truck through its mission, and cheer at a job well done.

Be prepared for some repairs on the little green truck itself: small, eager fingers will make quick work of the sturdy--yet never sturdy enough--tabs and flaps. 1-0 out of 5 stars not in the condition as it advertised
It took over 10 days to receive the book. The condition was not as "good" as it advertised. There are things missing on 3 pages. I'm not happy with the purchase.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for church or the car!
This book is great for when we need to have our children- ages one and three- entertain themselves quietly. It is perfect for church and its small size allows me to keep it in my purse or diaper bag for other times. There are a lot of parts for them to move or connect with each other. However, I do agree that the parts are not very durable and we are now on our second copy of the book- but it is well worth the money!

3-0 out of 5 stars Please make the moving parts sturdier!!
We have bought 5 of Ken Wilson-Max's books--2 of the titles twice overbecause they fell apart badly. As much as our 2-1/2 year old son loves thestories, pictures and movable parts, the moving parts lasted average of 3readings before they came apart.Only if Mr. WIlson-Max could come up withways to reinforce those moving parts so that they will last long enough topass the books down to our infant son . . .I would be happy to buy allhis titles over again for our younger son, if a new version with sturdiermoving parts became available.

Product Description
The fourteen stories in this book are very short, very original, and will take readers for a great ride! Each story is told in four rhyming lines and four illustrated panels, with a turn of the page starting a new one. They are all about trucks and vehicles, including the crawler crane of the title, some dizzy delivery vans, an excavator with terrible table manners, and many more. Zany and silly, each story is as quirky and imaginative as the next, and good for a laugh. The art style is contemporary, sophisticated, and pointedly whimsical. The text is clever and short, perfect for the busy parents of today's on-the-move youngsters. Truck lovers will go into high gear for these sly and satisfying tales.Mittie Cuetara is the author-illustrator of Terrible Teresa and Other Very Short Stories (Dutton). School Library Journal raved that it combined the originality of Jon Scieszka and the wit of Jack Prelutsky with Maira Kalman's style of illustration. An original, refreshing, and useful offering. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is not scary!
I was stunned to see that "The Reader from Missouri" found the pictures scary. The scariest thing that happens in these pictures is an exasperated school bus driver ends up with a banana peel on his head.I have shared this book with many, many kids and not one has been the least bit put off.

This is an excellent, clever, fun book.

5-0 out of 5 stars My truck fanatic's favorite!
My three year old son loves this book!He loves the pictures (not too scary at all) and the funny, silly poems.I like the fact that the drawings show women and people of color driving and enjoying trucks, in addition to white men.

4-0 out of 5 stars Zany, cartoon humor
My three-year-old son gives this book high marks! I giggle along with him as he finishes his favorite story-poems before I can read the endings. The cartoony illustrations are done in an edgy style, but I wouldn't describethem--or the rhyming stories--as scary. (However, if your child prefersBarney to Rugrats, he or she may not appreciate this book's zany cartoonhumor.) 5-0 out of 5 stars Great "noisy" book for kids!
I have two young boys and they love this book!(Though perhaps it's how I read it.)The first page says: "The garbage truck goes 'BURBABA BURBABA BURBABA SCREECH!BEEP-BEEP-BEEPCRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH'" and that first page got my younger son's attention! He's not much interested in sitting and reading, but he does love sensory input like lights and noises and textures and moving things. So I read through the whole book and both boys were laughing delightedly at the noises Mommy was making while reading a book. They call it "the noisy book" now, and after we put them to bed I will hear my older boy (who loves to read) "reading" the book from memory and making all the noises. It's certainly not a fancy book, but Steve Light's spellings are very good at approximating the noises of different large trucks. You can have a lot of fun with this book and your kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for young children
When my daughter was young, she was fascinated by the vehicles with sirens. In particular she loved seeing the big red fire trucks go by us with lights flashing and sirens wailing. As a consequence of that excitement, I checked this book out and read it to her, over and over again. Although she did not understand many of the principles of measure, such as the height of 20 stacked giraffes, she did love the pictures and the sound effects I provided. I strongly recommend this as reading material for young children.

4-0 out of 5 stars Go Little Blue GO!
This is a colorful picture book that follows a little blue truck in his daily adventures. The little blue truck feels awkward in his new town, until he meets a limousine who is having trouble and his owner, the mayor. Will the little blue truck be able to save the day? Read this book and find out. I would recommend this book to children who like cars.

3-0 out of 5 stars Just OK
I bought this book for my son as soon as it came out because we have the first Little Blue Truck book and love it. I think this one falls short. It is not half as charming as the first and really a little boring to read. After we read the first book my son was reading along with us (as best he could at 2 1/2) and doing all the animal sounds. This one he doesn't even want to pick up a 2nd time. The illustrations are still nice and the moral is OK, but overall it's about grumpy city cars and doesn't have the same cute flow as the first. I'd pass. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Favorite for all
I received this book as a gift in my classroom of two year olds. We read it every single day. It was the only book that could hold 17 children at full attention for more than a minute. Within a month, the children were "reading" along with me, reciting the words right along with me. We loved it so much I have recently purchased it for my own child.

1-0 out of 5 stars Awful grammar, terribly poetry, miserable to read
This book has the worst grammar of all my kids' books and the poetry is terrible.I find it painful to read.Decide for yourself:

"Rotten luck. Can't go.My truck is stuck."
Tug and Tow.2 Engines roar.
But the truck won't go.
Not one inch more.

"Rotten luck. Can't go.My truck is stuck."
Drag and draw.Tug and Tow.
3 Engines roar.
But the truck won't go.

My kids seem indifferent to it so I've gotten rid of it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toddler book
My two year old LOVED this book.I had to read it 5 or 6 times when we first got it and then when we were done he took it over for his grandma to read again! It has a great rhyme scheme, colorful pictures, a cute story, and just overall a great children's book.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Toddler Loves It!!
My 2 yr old son can't get enough of this book. It's catchy and cute. I would recommend it to anyone with a toddler boy for sure!

5-0 out of 5 stars Read it Again!
This is the first book I brought home (out of MANY) that my 2-year-old son has asked me to read and re-read to him. I am not too fond of the rhythm and rhyme but if he wants me to read with him I'll read the phonebook! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So charming! One of my son's favorites!
We took this out of the library many times before I finally bought my three-year old son his own copy. The illustrations are really charming, and the text is so fun to read. He studies the pictures and enjoys the rhymes each time we read it. Truly a new classic! A must for everyone who not only likes trucks, but loves to look at detailed, perfect illustrations!

Now over a year latter they both still love these books. We have a lot of books but this book and the cat one are chosen for night time books about once a week. The writting is so fun and poetic. ...
