The philosophy and intent of this and most subsequent schools was to assimilate Indian children by removing them from their native cultures, and teaching them the manners, dress, and job skills that were deemed important by the school founders and administrators. While boarding schools still exist, most had changed their practices of forced assimilation by the 1930s. This bibliography only covers the schools from 1879 to 1940. It does not contain any novels. It is not a complete list.
BBC News | EDUCATION | Germans Opt For UK Boarding Schools Last year, independent schools sent representatives to washington, in an attemptto there were more than 8,000 overseas pupils in UK boarding schools, with the http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/education/newsid_1178000/1178482.stm
Extractions: German pupils are taking places in increasing numbers at public schools in the United Kingdom. There are an estimated 1,600 German pupils in sixth forms of fee-paying schools, many coming to this country to improve their English language skills. Around 100 fee-paying schools are taking part in a recruitment scheme with a German-based educational consultancy, with representatives from UK schools visiting Germany to talk to parents about what a boarding school education can offer. While there has been an increase in the numbers of overseas pupils attending UK boarding schools and an increase in "occasional" boarding, the overall pupil numbers have been in long-term decline. Recruitment drives Boarding school numbers have gone down from almost 126,000 in 1985 to less than 82,000 by 1999, as fewer parents in the UK have sent their children to study away from home. Last year, independent schools sent representatives to Washington, in an attempt to encourage recruitment from pupils in the United States.

Federal Indian policy called for the removal of children from their families and in many cases enrollment in a government run boarding school. In this way, the policy makers believed, young people would be immersed in the values and practical knowledge of the dominant American society while also being kept away from any influences imparted by their traditionally-minded relatives.

Extractions: The Reservation Boarding School System was a war in disguise. It was a war between the United States government and the children of the First People of this land. Its intention was that of any war, elimination of the enemy. The reason this war is difficult to recognize is because it was covered by the attractive patina of a concept called "Manifest Destiny." Manifest Destiny was a philosophy by which the white european invader imagined themselves as having a divine right to take possession of all land and its fruits. The reason that the Concept of Manifest Destiny was so effective was because, as it steam rolled across the land, it dragged the masses with it. The hooks that dragged these masses were many and were forged by Christianity and the Christian imprimatur. Although the fuel that energized Manifest Destiny was economic, the inspiration was in its alignment with divine will. This quote from the essay
