Its latitude, longitude and elevation are 33 degrees 46 minutes south, 151 degrees 7 minutes east and 55.0 metres above mean sea level. This is a new location known as (Macq.Uni. No.2). The Automatic Weather Station is known as AWS 2. Prior to January 9 1998, the Automatic Weather Station (known as AWS1) was located on the Macquarie University campus. It was moved to its current position to make way for a car park. The following will help you locate the AWS: Visit the Department of Biological Sciences' Where in the World is Macquarie University? (this will take you through a heirachy of maps: World, Australia, Sydney, Macquarie University). The AWS is located 1km to the North of the Department of Biological Sciences at the NE end of Culloden Road. Extractions: What is an albino crow called? A Caw-casian Weather, Blind Location and Setup Weather Crows can be hunted effectively on both sunny and overcast days and in all temperature ranges. However, keep in mind that while those sunny "bluebird" days are pleasant to be outdoors, direct sun means that you must be extra careful about your camouflage. Light rain seems to have little effect on crow behavior, but heavy rain will generally discourage crows from flying. Windy days can still work well, but the wind will tend to reduce the effective range of your calling. Foggy conditions seem to be magical, with the crows dropping in right on top of you before they spot you or the decoys. Always make an effort to get to your favorite spot when fog is in the forecast. Blind Location and Setup Once you have found a general area for your hunt, you need to set up a specific spot for calling. If you have located an active flyway, try to position yourself a couple of hundred yards to one side of the flyway or the other. If possible, constructing a blind in advance will allow the crows to become accustomed to it and will prevent any unnecessary commotion when it is time to hunt. It best to rest a particular blind for a few weeks after it has been shot a couple of times. Whichever location you chose, it is important to make sure that you have an open field of fire when it comes time to throw up the guns.

The map to the right gives the location of the camera in the INEEL. The camera is usually pointed to the northwest at Jumpoff Peak. (If you see a guy wire in the image, the camera is pointed at Jumpoff Peak.) The camera position is under the control of the NOAA ARLFRD duty forecaster, who is located in our office in Idaho Falls, ID. The duty forecaster is on duty from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time every working day of the year. The position and view area of the camera may change as the forecaster uses the pan, zoom, and tilt functions to monitor a particular meteorological phenomenon. Watch closely and perhaps you might observe the camera pointed at the snow depth guage, or at Big Southern Butte to observe the orographically induced cloud cap.
