5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC #2
This is a P.S.

Battered & Bruised, should be required reading in every college and university in the country that have or DO NOt have Women and Gender Studies.

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC
Just got the book out of the library last night and I'm nearly 1/3 through it.It is wonderful. In reading the bible, I could never understand how such vile and derogatory outpourings against the few women they wrote aboutcould have been so well hidden.Women seem to make up the baulk ofreligious worshipers and yet not a kind word is directed at them.

Arthur Ide has my deepest appreciation for stating out right what hasbeen so cleverly distorted regarding the reality of women in theOT.

Thank you.

5-0 out of 5 stars shocking !
Arthur Frederick Ide work should be available in school reading lists. I did not know what to expect until I realized that with the bible in hand you can check every footnote and discover that what he says is true. Thebible is written as a rabid assault on female sexuality and women ingeneral.Especially note worthy are the comments regarding foreign women, racism is rife a long side hypocrisy and gang rapes.Ide writes well andoffers up some thought provoking material . ... Product Description
The Hidden Ribs was written in order to highlight women in history, both famous and interesting. I chose poetry as the format to keep it flowing. Often a story will fade, whereas, a poem will last forever. You will find laughter, tears, truth and memories in these histories. There is more history in these poems than any twenty books you will ever read, and you will not have to suffer boredom.

Product Description
In 1918 women in Britain finally won the vote after a long and determined fight. The struggle of these courageous women of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries is examined in Atkinson's new study. The author compares and contrasts two very different campaigns: the battle waged by the militant Suffragettes and the persistent though less well-known activities of the Suffragists who campaigned peacefully but doggedly for the vote. A handful of fascinating and previously unpublished photographs from the Museum of London Collection are dispersed throughout the text. ... Read more

Product Description
The book is part of a series which examines the role of women in British history. It uses documentary evidence, quotations and contemporary pictures, and is ideal for use in oral history projects. The series as a whole evaluates the often neglected contribution which women have made in shaping history. It is suitable as background reading for GCSE studies and Standard Grade in Scotland. Women have been involved in business for hundreds of years, from 15th century merchants and street traders, to modern-day entrepreneurs. Over the centuries women's position in the business world has beeen subject to changing social attitudes, government acts, and fluctuations in the country's economic needs. This book examines some of the difficultes that women have faced - inadequate child-care facilites, discrimination, lack of financial backing, the need for encouragement and role models - and how they have overcome them. ... A detailed look at the role of women in RCA history.

Volume 31 in the HSRCA series explores the important--and largely unacknowledged--contribution of women to the history of the Reformed Church in America. More than just an expose of untold stories, this interesting foray into women studies discusses the church's continuing struggle to define the role of women in ministry and begins, at last, to rewrite the WHOLE story of this significant North American denomination. ... A detailed study of the life and labor of women in America from 1609 through 1776, who were more than just supportive of their families, but were engaged in commerce, missionary activity, and war. This rare volume looks at how a woman preserved the integrity and independence of Maryland, chronicles woman's work in establishing America's silk, indigo, rice, and olive industries inthe Carolinas; worked with tobacco in Virginia, cleared land in Georga; and helped settle the backwoods of Kentucky and Tennessee. It also looks at the issues of abortion, staying single in a married world, and the pains of loving other women. ... Read more
