This book explores issues of race in regard to establishing a viable system of foster care for today's African American youth. Thirty-three states have cited high rates of poverty among African Americans as a factor influencing children's entry into foster care. African American children also stay in foster care longer, in part, because of a greater reliance on relatives to provide foster care. While states viewed some federal policies as helpful for reducing the proportion of African American children in foster care, they also expressed concerns regarding policies that limit the use of federal funds for services to prevent the removal of children in the first place and to place children with legal guardians. States also expressed concerns that federal funding emphasised finding permanent homes for children after they had been removed. Reality Check
I hate to break it to these guys but their book is backwards. They've got their generations mixed up.Generation X is the *only* generation that has made any difference or impact on the world thus far. Generation X'ers were the kids who grew up seeing the world almost blow itself up and our environment trashed and we are the ones who have had to play cleanup for 30 years of bad policy.We are the ones raised on dreams of Asimov's Laws of Robotics, and on Gibson's near future vision of cyberpunk.Generation Y and the new Internet generation are a bunch of lazy narcissistic know-nothings who cannot communicate properly.They are a byproduct of the most sophisticated Generation since the generation that spawned Radio. Millenials are the odd by-product of a shifting zeitgeist and they have no vision.They have a recycled culture with no sense of identity because as history changes there are washouts and strange things happen because people cannot deal with the speed of change.Generation Y will not contribute anything useful by themselves, except to continue the work of what Generation X people like Elon Musk, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Jerry Yang, JayZ, Diddy, RunDMC, Michael Jackson, and the list goes on and on etc have done scientifically and culturally to shift the world we live in. Robotics, Biofuel, Internet and all these things have happened to no credit of Generation Y.The Millenials have contributed almost NOTHING to the current state of the world and they will continue to work for Gen X'ers through this new economy as X'ers continue to overshadow the direction of where the world is going.Millenials will be the pawns on the chessboard X's have layed out, and the generation of cheaters in the USA will be trumped by international competition as this globalization continues to play out.

Get in the Mind of a Millennial
Generation We is a thorough look into the Millennial generation and its impact on America. The size of the generation alone, similar to the Baby Boomers, is a reason to learn more about their preferences and trends in all facets of society. Unlike other generational books, Generation We outlines not only the characteristics of the generation, but how they can potentially impact the American society.The unfortunate aspect of this book is it was written prior to the economic downturn and the impact that the economy has had on the generation is not addressed. That alone will certainly further impact society and ultimately the American workplace practices.

The qualitative commentary subtly dilutes the book's overall impact and leaves the reader curious about the realistic true impact versus the sensationalism tone. Overall, it is a good book for an introduction into the mind of a Millennial and throughout many aspects of the book I found myself cheering for the Millennials to continue impacting and influencing change in all aspects of American life.

After completing Generation We, I read the Pew Research study, Report: A Portrait of Generation Next, which was referenced throughout Greenberg's book. It was helpful to read both for a balance of quantitative research results from the study, with the significant qualitative tone in Generation We.

Waste of Money
This is a book for people who believe that kids know/understand more than their parents/elders.I'm sure Mao and Hitler would have agreed.If you are a hardcore socialist, you might enjoy it.

Utter rubbish
This book tries to convince the young they are smarter than the old - you know those old people that have been around a few decades instead of 1 or 2. It claims they are tried of political partisanship while this rubbish preached progressive liberal trash in a partisan manner. Generation We should be more aptly titled generation whiner.
How about we teach our kids personal responsibility and stop trying to indoctrination of them in some progressive brain washed entitlement agenda. Let me tell you something generation we - you are not entitled to anything other life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and that's it! Life it not fair get use to it.

This book sickens me and it's not worth wiping my backside with.
