BBC News | SHOWBIZ | Broadway Box Office Receipts Rise Big names. Two of the show's stars, Burke Moses and carolee carmello, were amongthe 100 celebrities who gathered for the recording of New York, New York. http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/entertainment/showbiz/newsid_1566000/1566090.st
Extractions: Broadway box office receipts have nearly doubled since the disastrous week of the US attacks. Takings rose to $7.3m (£4.9m) from $3.6m (£2.4m) in the week of the terrorist strikes but are still way down on last year. Stars of the major shows have also recorded a version of New York, New York to tempt theatregoers back to the auditoriums. In the week of the attacks many theatres cut their performances from eight shows to five. Although the League of American Theatres and Producers announced that Les Miserables' takings rose from $94,500 (£64,000) to $167,000 (£113,000) it still played to less than a 30% audience capacity. Lord Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera fared slightly better, with takings leaping from $185,400 (£125,700) to $273,600 (£185,400), with around a 35% capacity.

Extractions: Anything Goes Anything Goes The story is basically that of Billy Crocker (Ron Bohmer) who stows away on a luxury ocean liner in order to prevent the girl he loves, Hope (Glory Crampton), from marrying British stuffed shirt Sir Evelyn Oakleigh (George Dvorsky). Crocker is aided by friend and ship chanteuse Reno Sweeney (Carolee Carmello). To make this a door-slamming, disguise loaded farce, add in gangster Moonface Martin (Leslie Feagan) and his moll Erma (Nancy Lemenager), Hope's pretentious mother Evangeline (Lisa McMillan) and Crocker's Wall Street tycoon boss Elisha J. Whitney (Dimitri Christy). The Tony Walton set of the U.S.S. American , complete with bank of four revolving doors (on a turntable), stairways on right and left leading to the top deck where the band sits, and topped by the ship's stack, allows for the movement that is needed for Anything Goes ' "which way'd he go?" direction. The split second timing of the entrances and exits worked well, even though the cast only rehearsed together for seven days, and no heads appeared to be bumped during the countless revolutions of the doors. Costumes provided by American Musical Theatre of San Jose were perfect, particularly the multitude of women's gowns.

Parade--Carver And Carmello Interview From InTheater Magazine (December 25, 1998) A Frank Conversation Brent Carver andCarolee carmello are Leo and Lucille Frank in Parade by Michael Portantiere. http://theatre_chick.tripod.com/brent-car.html
Extractions: by Michael Portantiere They're the kind of roles most actors would give their eyeteeth for, based on the central figures in one of this century's most compelling real life dramas; Leo Frank, a Jew from Brooklyn living a fish-out-of-water existence in Atlanta in 1913, wrongfully convicted of murdering young Mary Phagan; and his wife, Lucille, who does everything in her power to save her husband and clear his name, only to see him lynched by an anti-Semitic mob. It's not Hello, Dolly! Rather, Parade exemplifies the kind of thought provoking work that is director, Harold Prince, has favored during his more than 40 year career as a Broadway legend. Happily, the balance of the show's creative team is also worthy of the challenge: Parade's book is by Alfred Uhry, whose credits include shows as diverse as Driving Miss Daisy and The Robber Bridegroom ; its music and lyrics are by talented newcomer Jason Robert Brown; and its stars are extraordinarily well chosen. Leo Frank is played by Brent Carver, the Canadian actor who leapt from relative obscurity to wow Broadway with his 1993 Tony winning performance in
