He had a sister who was older than him by three years, Sophia, and when Michael was three his younger brother, Steven Cuccione, was born. Michael was an outgoing, bright, friendly and talented child with a knack for singing, dancing and performing. But when Michael was nine years-old, two lumps were found near his collar bone. On July 25th, 1994, Michael was diagnosed with a specific type of cancer: Hodgkin's Disease. For the next six months Michael went through chemotherapy, and after that there was hope that the cancer was gone. But six months later the cancer returned and was even worse than the first time: it had spread to his lungs. He had to go through a bone marrow transplant, more intense chemotherapy, and twelve radiation treatments to his lungs and heart. Miraculously he beat the cancer once again and on August 1st, 1996, Michael celebrated being cancer-free one whole year. bodyOffer(33016) During his bout with Hodgkin's Disease and onward through the rest of his life Michael dedicated himself to raising money to find a cure for cancer. He spent lots of time doing public speaking about cancer and even started his own foundation: The Michael Cuccione Foundation. He spoke in hospitals and charity events, and spent time with kids suffering with cancer. He came out with his own CD called "Make A Difference", and also wrote a book with his grandmother called "There Are Survivors: The Michael Cuccione Story". Both the CD and book were inspirational tales of how he overcame cancer. The profits made from his CD and book were donated to charity. He traveled many places during this time, spending hours upon hours promoting and raising money, and increasing awareness about his disease.

When he was nine years old, he diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease. He then received six months of chemotherapy treatments. He was believed to be cured. But six months later, the cancer returned. It was getting worse. It metastasized to his lungs. He would need chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant and twelve radiation treatments around his heart and lungs, which had no guarantee of survival. Michael was diagnosed not once, it was twice, with cancer, but he still faced his situation bravely. He fought till an end. Although things came to an end too soon for him, he lived his life to the fullest. In 1997, he landed a guest spot on the show "Baywatch". It made one of his dream came true. From there, he was discovered by the producers of 2gether, who casted him as Jason "Q.T." McKnight. With the fictional band, Michael produced a movie special for MTV, numerous television episodes and two albums. + Inspiration + Another dream of Michael was to make a difference in the fight against cancer. He set up the Michael Cuccione Foundation which eventually donated $500,000 to fund a permanent research position at the B.C. Children's Hospital. Besides, he also told his story of faith and courage, and sang inspiring songs. He recorded an album called "Make a Difference"and co-authored a book called "There Are Survivors: The Michael Cuccione Story". He tried to send the messages of "Never give up on faith, hope and love" to the people around. Even though he lived for only 16 years, he've inspirated many people.
