Extractions: Malachi A. Hanley, Joseph Malachi Hanley and Bridgett (Higgins) Hanley Malachi Ambrose Hanley's wife Bridget F. Higgins was born November 10, 1873 in parish of Oughterard, County Galway, Ireland to John Higgins and Norah Cady Keady . Bridget immigrated to America in 1885. (According to Irish civil records, the U.S. 1900 census, Bridgetts Boston marriage records, and cousin Tom Higgins personal letter of 10/23/2000) Tom Higgins is the son of Peter Higgins, (Bridgets brother) and grandson of John Higgins and Nora Keady. ~ Tom lives in Galway, Ireland. Tom recalls that Bridgett was one of five children, with siblings Mary, Catherine, Honor, and Peter. We have found Irish records that indicate that Bridget had a twin sister who was named Honor and known to the family as Annie. Annie married Martin Scales and lived in Boston next to Bridget in 1900. (U.S. Census) Tom recalls his father Peter Higgins was born in 1876 and remained on the family land in Moycullen. Peter Higgins married Ann Hehir and raised a family there until his death on August 26, 1952. Bridget's sister Margaret (Mary) was born July 16, 1881 and

Extractions: Bridget Hanley. The name brings forth images of world-class acting and timeless beauty. Well, it does if you read and believe all that her third-rate website professes. In reality, she's a long forgotten ex-celeb who bought a domain name and got some moderately skilled HTML geek to throw up a site for her. Hanley's last role, according to the Internet Movie Database, was on a Columbo episode during the first Bush Administration. Prior to that she was a "star" in two forgotten TV shows- neither of which was MASH. Worth visiting is the photos section. Do this first so you can look at her mug shot and say "Nope, still don't know who she is." Then take a spin over to her bio section and read about her rise from Nowhere, America to Nowhere, Hollywood. Each sentence reads like one of those self-justifying Communist propaganda leaflets the Soviets used disperse to their enemies in the Cold War. (We'd give you a quote but they've prohibited cut and paste on the site, so you'll have to visit yourself).

Extractions: Neary, Carrington, Hanley, Carlin, Brannan, Mulera There were several families from Kilglass that settled in my county of LaSalle, Illinois. They are as follows. All immigrated in the mid 1840's except for Matthew who immigrated in the late 1830's. My great great grandfather, Edward Neary (1805-1883) and his wife Mary Carrington Neary (1818-1880). I believe Mary to be the daughter of John and Bridget Carrington of Ballykilcline. Edward was the son of Mark Neary and he had brothers Luke and James. The following were the children of John and Bridget Neary. I believe John to be the brother of Edward. The children were Luke, Patrick, Bartley, Matthew and Nancy. I believe that John and Bridget farmed land in Ballykilcline and possibly Dooslattagh. I believe John died in about 1835 in Ballykilcline and Bridget immigrated to LaSalle County, Illinois in the late 1830s with her son Matthew. Luke Neary (1824-1896) and his wife Abigail Carrington Neary (1831-1897). Their children were Abigail, Elizabeth, Alice, James Edward, John Joseph, Ellen, Matthew and Bridget. Abigail is the daughter of John and Bridget Carrington of Ballykilcline. Patrick Neary (1822-1855). Married to Catherine Golden. Their children were Anna, Elizabeth, James and Clare.

Extractions: Family names from Ballykilcline or Killglass Parish that settled in LaSalle, County include: Mcguire, Stuart, Carlin, Brannon, Neary, Kane, Mulerra, Hoare, Carrington and Hanley. Second Generation James Hanley was born in Ballykilcline Townland (located 3 miles from Stokestown on Lake Kilglass), County Roscommon, Ireland in 1818. He married Susan Carrington, born 1821 the daughter of John and Bridget Carrington ( our great, great, great grandparents). They had 10 children, nine of which are known to us. On May 27, 1847 the Townlands of Ballykilcline were occupied by an army of 60 police, 25 Calvary and 30 infantry. A battle ensued and the homes of the farmers destroyed and the tenant's evicted. The government wanted to charge the people rent on lands that had been in their families for generations. In 1847 the British forced all of the people here off their land and gave them passage to America on 5 ships, the "Channing", the "Creole", the "Metoka", the "Progress", and the "Roscius". The Hanley's were on the "Creole", a total of 409 people were evicted. Many of the people who came first settled in Vermont and then many came to Walthom Township, IL. They arrived in New York on Nov. 24, 1847 with their two children, John and Peter. Also with them was Susan's brother John Carrington who died Jan.1 1863, age 26. He is buried in the Brannan plot with John and Ellen Brannan at St. Vincent's Cemetery in LaSalle. The Hanley's did not have a family plot yet.
