    Extractions: Sho Kosugi was a staple in the Ninja movies of the 1980's. There were not very many popular ninja movies made without Sho. He stared in such movies as "Enter the Ninja", "Revenge of the Ninja", "Ninja 3: The domination", "Pray for Death" and many more. When anyone thinks about ninja movies, they think Sho Kosugi Show had two sons. They often played roles in Sho's movies, usually as his son. Kane starred with his father in "Revenge of the Ninja" among others. Sho also starred in a series of television episodes entitled "Master Ninja". I have not seen them yet, so if you have any info on these please let me know. I do not have much more information on Sho other than the movies he did, however, I have received e-mails from readers with more information. Here they are:

By the time he reached 18, he held the prestigious title of All-Japan Karate Champion as well as many others. However in 1968, he left Japan to pursue his real dream which was to become an actor. After 8 determined years of doing stunt and extra work in films, he landed his 1st major role and there began his success story. He is the 1st and only Japanese actor to ever reach the prestigious plateau of "the billion dollar star." His name is Sho Kosugi. His Ninja success instantly spread worldwide. Within a matter of years, he played the leading roles in films such as: Enter the Ninja(1981), Revenge of the Ninja(1982), Ninja 3: The Domination (1983), Nine Deaths of the Ninja(1984), Pray for Death(1985), Rage of Honor (1986), Master Class(1985) and Ninja Theater(1986). The Ninja sensation was so big that when Pat Rod, of the Hollywood Reporter, was in countries like Greece and Turkey she said,"Movie enthusiasts there never asked me about Stallone, Cruise, or Harrison Ford; it was always,'Have you ever met Sho Kosugi?'" Although currently a retired Ninja in black himself, he continues to encourage others about his brand new style of Ninjas. In 1998, he created eNinja Taikoffrom amongst his SKI members, a combination of traditional Japanese Taiko with Martial Arts and Acrobatic movements. Most of the members were new to the Taiko drums but became proficient at the SKI school in Hollywood.

A California-based karate instructor, Kosugi was enlisted in 1981 by Golan and Globus (producers of pure shlock) to appear in Enter the Ninja . Following Enter's success, he appeared in a sequel, Revenge of the Ninja in 1982. The stage now being set, Kosugi ended up in a number of such films of the next few years, presenting a view of ninja and ninjutsu that is... somewhat inaccurate to say the least. Kosugi has appeared in some of the lamest ninja flicks ever to grace the screen (or home video). A short list would include: Black Eagle (with Jean Claude van Damme), Enter the Ninja The Master (a.k.a. Master Ninja , with Lee Van Cleef), Ninja 3: the Domination Pray for Death , and Revenge of the Ninja Personality/Motivation: Kosugi's disadvantages are pretty generic, mainly because his characters are pretty generic. His big plot hook is his Code of Vengeance, where if someone harms his family (usually a rival ninja clan), Kosugi will dig out his old ninja gear and go on the war path, carving his way through the enemy till he reaches the ones responsible. Occasionally he's the villain in the picture, but his Code still holds. The difference is he then pursues the heroes after they dispose of his boss and/or master. Quote: "Only a ninja can kill a ninja."
