Extractions: Lin Ching Hsia in a rare dramatic role in the 90s. Brigitte starrs as Shao Hua, a writer whose husband Neng Tsai played by Chin Han is an employee of the Japanese during the Japanese Occupation. Brigitte and Maggie (as Yue Feng) are best friends in the film and it was a display of a deep, warm and beautiful friendship. Maggie and her lover died whilst attending an anti-government meeting. A beautiful loving scene at the balcony where Brigitte cover herself and Chin Han with her scarf. Brigitte tried to escape from China together with Chin Han but unfortunately she has only 1 ticket. She passes the only ticket to the unknowing Chin Han as she knows that Chin Han cannot exist in China from the vengeful Chinese who has been ill-treated by the Japanese. Many years later, Chin Han came back to China to look for Brigitte but it was too late.

She even develops friendships with members of the troupe. Look out for the touching scene when Brigitte looks after a orphan boy who is unaware of the death of his parents which was caused by her sister Snow. Click for the conclusion of Fire Dragon. Enjoyable and deserved to be watched one more time. Comic relief by Sandra Ng who happens to be the vain and selfish leader of the acrobatic troupe. A comic act when Brigitte paints Sandra in ghostly makeup when Sandra tried to learn make-up tips from Brigitte. Lots of fighting scenes and the figthing scenes are beautifully choreographed. This movie is unusual in one aspect. Most of the shows that Lin Ching Hsia acted in has her swimming or walking by the beach or getting drenched in the rain or boating. Its very unusual to see her acting in so many fiery scenes.

Extractions: Peach Blossom Land merges the activities of a theatre together with 2 plays due to a mistake in booking for rehearsals. The script is excellent and every sentence has double meaning where any interpretation will potentially cause misunderstandings. Instead of the usual play within a play, it is 2 plays in a movie. Brigitte Lin plays an actress whose role is Yun Zhifan and she acts in the 1st play which is about the mid 1900s where many Chinese left China for Taiwan and who is separated from her lover Jiang played by Chin Shih Chieh. The 2 lovers are re-united many years later but shortly as both have spouses to return to. The 2nd play is about a fisherman (Lee Li-Chun) whose wife Spring Flower (Ismene Ting) is having an affair with Master Yuan (Ku Pao-Ming). The fisherman was lost one day whilst fishing and came to a secret paradise-like valley. Both plays merge in the middle of the show. This show has a lot of wit as well as serious issues. It has some political overtones. A marvellous play. It would take a few viewings to absorb its meaning. A show strong in script and acting abilities. The
