Extractions: Looking at the smiling face of beautiful little Nicole McArdle, it is hard to believe that she has been battling a potentially fatal liver disease since birth. Nicole, daughter of Helen and Aidan McArdle, Warrenpoint, was born with biliary atresia, a congenital absence or closure of the ducts that drain bile from the liver. If left untreated, damage to the liver can be so extensive that few children survive beyond the age of two.

The British Theatre Guide : Reviews - A Prayer For Owen Meany The first thing to mention is that it is distinguished by excellentacting, particularly from aidan mcardle as the eponymous hero. http://www.britishtheatreguide.info/reviews/owenmeany-rev.htm
Extractions: Review by Philip Fisher (2002) The second play in the Lyttelton Transformation season is another adaptation of a modern novel. A Prayer for Owen Meany is John Irving's New Hampshire-set tale of a Christ-like young boy. The first thing to mention is that it is distinguished by excellent acting, particularly from Aidan McArdle as the eponymous hero. It must take all of his physical resources to perform for three hours in the part of "a boy with a wrecked voice". To do this, he produces a voice reminiscent of Mickey Mouse and it is clear by the end of the performance that this is very hard work. The style of Mick Gordon's production is reminiscent of previous adaptations at the National such as Remembrance of Things Past and the wonderful Cloudstreet . It is very episodic and uses a bare set with props appearing from the wings and flies. It achieves great success by adding layer upon impressionistic layer to build up a picture of this latter-day Messiah. The play thrives on dramatic tensions. At almost any moment, the good will be juxtaposed with the bad, although it is not always certain which is which. This adds to an intimate drawing of the relationship between Owen, with his certain Catholic upbringing, and his great friend, disciple and chronicler, Johnny Wheelwright, played by Richard Hope. By contrast, he is a man who searches for but cannot find religious faith.
The British Theatre Guide : Reviews - Richard III In this, the final production in the Royal Shakespeare Companys 27 hours of historyplays, Michael Boyd and aidan mcardle provide a heavily psychological http://www.britishtheatreguide.info/reviews/richardiii-rev.htm
Extractions: Review by Philip Fisher (2001) The play starts with the ambitious Richard a very long way from the Crown. However the kind of obstacles that would prevent a lesser man - for example, the murder of most of his own family - does not seem to be any kind of block to Richard. He is one of those people with a kind of manufactured charm that he can turn on or off at will. He is a devious plotter and great dissembler who will always get his way. It is never easy to see why the lady Anne who is, after all, both the wife and daughter-in-law of victims of Richard, should change from cursing him to marrying him almost instantly. The mysteries of love are never easy to understand and this match does not follow any kind of logic. The scene where Henry VIs body is brought onto stage and Richard dips his fingers into the blood says an awful lot about the "bottled spider".

Extractions: Doohamlet U-15s produced an outstanding team display to defeat gallant favourites Drumhowan in this highly entertaining Paddy McGuigan cup final at Cremartin. Drumhowan struck first with a Padraig Atkinson point but Doohamlet pounced for the games opening goal after 5 minutes when Seamus Malone and Darren Connolly combined for Kevin McArdle to hit the net. Aidan Duffy had a 14th minute free in reply for Drumhowan and by the break they had moved into a 1-5 to 1-2 lead, their goal finished home from the penalty spot by Damien Duffy after a foul on Padraig Atkinson. The second half began with Doohamlet on the offensive and a telling spell yielded five points without reply, Pauric ONeill providing four of them. Doohamlet now had a two-point lead and on 18 minutes they claimed a second goal, Seamus Malone snapping up a break from Kevin McArdles shot to bury the ball. In the closing stages Drumhowan continued to press but the woodwork came to Doohamlets rescue and despite late points Drumhowan could not bridge the gap. The winning team was well served by Damien King and Colin Connolly, superb in their full-back berths, whist half-backs Martin Doran and Paul McArdle won plenty of possession. Kevin McArdle and Emmett McManus stuck gamely to their task in midfield, with Pauric ONeill and Darren Connolly plus Lorcan Duffy and Seamus Malone provided the forward threat.
