I loved this book!
I absolutely loved this book. I'm surprised to see other reviewers say they thought the episode recaps were kind of boring. I loved reliving the shows, and this time with an insider's perspective. I would say this book is for real Little House fans and the other books are maybe for celebrity fans. There is definitely some juicy stuff here -- Melissa's frank portrayal of Michael Landon, for example -- but there's also a maturity and a lot of insight into creativity and the business of TV. Mostly, it's a wonderful reminder of all the amazing stories from Walnut Creek!

Worst of the three
I have read all 3 Little House Memoirs-- Laura, Nellie, and now Mary.This one definitely ranks last, both in how interesting it is and how well it was written.(Nellie's is FIRST!)Melissa Sue Anderson comes across as ego-centric and not very nice.She talks only about the Little House episodes in which she had the starring role.She has virtually nothing to say about the other girls in the cast, except for an underhanded disparaging remark about Melissa Gilbert near the beginning of the book.The style is dry and boring.The only reason I am giving this 2 stars is because she does go into detail about some of the LH episodes, and I enjoyed remembering those.The end of the book was especially boring, where she writes about all the film jobs she had after she left LH.Don't waste your money on this.Get it from the library if you want to read it.

THE WAY I SEE IT.....INSIPID !
I would have to agree with most of the other reviews-this is nothing more than an episode guide to the Little House on the Prairie series. True, there was no
mud-slinging of former cast members but this book is SO boring it probably would have been better if Melissa HAD revealed a FEW indiscretions. As is the book offers little or no entertainment value. One gets the distinct impression that Melissa was trying to convince herself what a talented actress she once was and still would be.....there is a lot of self validation going on.One of the scarier parts: was she SERIOUS about the chapter with the "You light up my life" lyrics or did I miss something?
If you are looking for a gift for a very old school, extremely conservative nun then this might be the ticket...otherwise SAVE your money! Read Allison Arngrim and Melissa Gilbert's books instead, they are far more entertaining!

Loved it.
Really takes you back to the good old days. Fascinating behind the scenes stuff between "Ma" and "Pa." Especially Pa, Michael Landon, of course.

Don't waste your money
Everyone involved with this book should be ashamed to accept any money from it.Basically the whole book is a episode guide of Little House on the Prairie episodes.If there was enough other stuff to fill 1 chapter I would be surprised.It seems like she wanted to cash in after the Melissa Gilbert and Alison Angrim books.It is a waste of time and money and I took it out of the library.Also, I have never before felt compelled to write a review on anything- that's how bad this was. ...
