5-0 out of 5 stars A sexy interracial romance...*SPOILERS MAYBE*
Brianna is a white, blond teen who falls for the tall, muscular, virile Shunkaha Luta, a Native American in his thirties who is unwillingly part of a chain gang...treated

Brianna lives with her wicked aunt and uncle, Harriet and Henry, respectively; an aunt who has the tendency to beat her, and an uncle who doesn't really care about his niece's feelings; just as Shunkaha Luta is beaten, and starved by those overseeing the chain gang, with no caring how the Indian man feels.

Circumstances occur that allow Shunkaha to escape and return to his people, with Brianna going with him and learning his customs...and both, obviously, falling in love.

Interestingly, towards the end of the novel, Brianna grows a little stronger as a person since she is seeing more of the world outside her aunt's influence...and Shunkaha Luta, despite all that has happened to him and his people...becomes wiser and less angry...but still strong.

This is a romance that definitely has you feeling for the characters, and wondering how they of different ethnicities will eventually find their happiness with all the chaos--(in terms of race, class, and gender)--going on around them.

It took me awhile to finally read the novel, as the genre of romance is stereotyped with one-dimensional characters, explicit sex scenes, thin storylines, etc. (I actually jumped in towards the middle, and read it to the end. I loved the book so much, I'm now reading it from the beginning).

Indeed, 'Fast Love, Wild Love' is a little more than the average novel. I found the story engaging, and very sexy...

I look to read more from this author...

5-0 out of 5 stars Original story
I totally loved this book not only because Luta had a miserable life, but also because the heroine's life was horrific with her uncle and his wife. She was a survivor and went after her heart's desire in a quiet way.His heart was with his woman.Loved it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Sweet Romance
I enjoyed this book. I found the heroine to be a little bit naive and wimpy but I guess all women even in fiction can't be strong self sufficient types. I wish that a bit more actual Native American lifestyle had been shown but what was there was interesting. I liked that both the hero and the heroine gave serious thought to whether or not they could fit into each other's world. I thought it was realistic that they realized that they could not live on in the old ways. I enjoyed watching two people cleave together through adversity.

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful book
I loved this book.I have yet to read another book whose story line is like this one. Could not put it down once I started it!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the few romance novels I enjoyed
Normally I hate romance novels and consider them trashy, but this one was a glowing exception. It had as much action and history in it as it did romance. The romance when it was going on was a romance of love, not just lust. The commitment between Brianna and Shunkaha was palpable and real. Though they were from different worlds, their love overcame all the trials and hardships life could throw at them.

This is definitely one of the very few romance novels I'd ever recommend because of the history in it such as the Battle of Wounded Knee and the massacre of the Lakota. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars a wonderfuly good read
I loved this book. I like Iron Wing and Katy. Such wonderful characters. I didn't like Iron Wing at first but as the book progressed I found his unwavering loyality to Katy a remarkable thing. Katy was a somewhat spoiled girl that found true love with the proud but kind hearted(after a time)Iron Wing. I did have a problem with Iron Wing whipping Katy in the begining of the book but after that the book was truly wonderful.(though if some one whipped me i would hate them not fall in love with them.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good
Love in the Wind was the very first romance novel that I ever read and it remains my favorite even now, years later! I found it very well written, and very emotionally provoking.
Love in the Wind is an old western historical romance. Katy is the woman at the center of the story. She was once an heiress to her parents' farm, but decided to become a nun when her fiance was killed by Indians. On her way to the convent, her coach is attacked by rebel Indians and she is the only one left alive, only to be found by a group of Cheyenne. She is taken back to their tribe and is given as a gift to their greatest warrior, Iron Wing, and thus the romance begins. It's true that Katy surely should have learned to hate Iron Wing as she many times proclaimed, but love never knows what it is SHOULD do anyway. Against all odds the two fall in love, and then must fight beyond what they had ever imagined to stay together.
Love and romance, humor and fun, horrifying and tear jerking, this book has everything. It is a truly good read.

4-0 out of 5 stars A BOOK TO LOVE AND HATE
It was hard to understand how Katy fell in love with Iron Wing. After allshe was "given to him" by his friend whom found her hiding in thecarriage that was attacked by another tribe. His punishments to her whenshe tried to escape or free prisoners would make anyone learn to hate him. However, once they found their feelings for each other (or should I sayKaty realized her own feelings toward Iron Wing since he already claimedher), they ended up with constant struggles to stay together. At timesKaty seemed spoiled and selfish, escpecially when she returned home and youwanted to shake her for this thoughtlessness really hard. But I wassurprised when she changed her tune in favor of Iron Wing.I consider anybook that can get you to react to it emotionally, whether it is good or bademotions, is well written, I did finish this book in only 1 1/2 days. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Too Simplistic Too Be Real
I'm alwyays looking for historical Native American romances to read because I tend to favor them and there are few out there that do them justice.I chose this book because I basically the premise. The idea of a white girl getting captured at a young age by Indians and growing up among them was very interesting. What I found hard to believe as I continued reading was how easy Wolf Shadow found her.It was just too much of a coincedence that she happened to be living in the village where he grew up.When they were both captured by the Crow, she didn't seem too distraught when she thought her family was killed and for that matter neither did he about his. There just wasn't any depth to this book. She just put pieces together that seemed to flow into one another but they didn't have too much feeling to them.If you're looking for a good Native American historical read Comanche Moon by Catherine Anderson.

4-0 out of 5 stars Missing Book description
Kidnapped by Sioux Indians as a child, Teressa Bryant was raised a beloved member of their tribe. Ten years have erased the memory of her capture-and her birth parents. Now called Blue Rain, she is on the verge of accepting the marriage proposal of a warrior-until a handsome stranger appears, searching for the girl with the deep blue eyes...

Half-Sioux and half-white, Chance McCloud is known to his mother's people as Wolf Shadow. Hired by Blue Rain's birth parents to bring her home, Chance soon finds himself torn between his obligation and the enchanting woman who has roused his untamed longing...

It doesn't take long for searing passion to throw Blue Rain's history-and future-into question. But if she agrees to return to the life she once knew, can she leave behind the man who has claimed her, body and soul?

4-0 out of 5 stars fine Indian romance
In Buffalo Springs, Chance McCloud is playing cards when Edward Bryant approaches him with an offer of $500 for twenty minutes of his time.Edward asks Chance to find his daughter stolen by the Sioux a decade ago.Chance tells the man that he is wasting his money, as his daughter is Indian.Edward's wife Rosalia appears pleading for Chance's help even as her husband increases the pot to $15,000.After seeing Rosalia, Chance is confident he knows where to find Teresa.

Chance visits the tribe that raised him as a half-breed to inform Blue Rain that her birth name is Teresa and her biological parents want her to come home.Blue Rain expects to wed a tribesman though she is attracted to Chance known among the tribe as Wolf Shadow, but tells him she is happy with her life. However, a Crow raid kills her future spouse and her Indian parents. She still does not want to leave so Chance takes her white parents to the tribe to see her even as he finds himself falling in love with her.

Known for her Indian romances, award winning Madeline Baker provides her readers with an exciting and insightful tale. The lead protagonists are a charming pair and the support cast adds depth to the novel.Though difficult choices are resolved rather easily through the death of the key players, fans will appreciate this warm Indian romance.

4-0 out of 5 stars An avid romance reader
I have reads several hundred historical romance novels. This is my second by Madeline Baker.I like her stories.I did not care for the hero in this book the first few chapters but he grows on you. In the end, it was a good book.I did not like this one as much as the first Madeline Baker book I read but I have 12 more of her books and will read each one.I think it was a little far fetched to see this man trying to adapt to big city life or for the heroine to expect him to.....but all in all I enjoyed the book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Quick and Simple read
Kaylynn is the runaway wife of a rich, very abusive man. She is captured by the Cheyenne when her stagecoach is ambushed outside of the Blackhills. She is living among the Cheyenne when she meets half-breed bounty hunter Jesse Yellow Thunder who is visiting his Cheyenne relatives in order to catch a local bank robber, RavenHawk, whom is Lakota, cousin to the Cheyenne.

The book is a fast paced, sweet read. I like Madeline Baker's Native reads but this one just did not do it for me. Kaylynn suffered from an abusive husband and has these violent flashbacks however she falls in love with Jesse who wins her in a horse race. He violently kisses her, binds her, and slaps her twice in the face. She seemed like to me she was one of those women who are attracted to abusive men. I also did not like Jesse because he is half Cheyenne and captured RavenHawk whom is allied to the Cheyenne. Jesse would be considered a traitor to his own race! Anyways Jesse binds RavenHawk to Kaylynn in order to take them back to town. RavenHawk is very sexy and flirtatious and even takes off with Kaylynn when the opportunity arises. She dumps RavenHawk for scar face Jesse whom claims no body loves him but his horse. I would have rather seen her stay with the virile RavenHawk. Yeah, he was a sort of a bad boy but he was true to his race.

4-0 out of 5 stars strong, realistic heroine
I'm not normally a fan of Western historical romances, but Madeline Baker is one of the few authors who, I think, does them well. There isn't an overly-idealised version of the Old West, nor are there stereotypical characters or easy answers.

Kaylynn is a runaway wife. She'd married a handsome man who abused her. I'm also not fond of abused/victim heroines, but Kaylynn didn't just cringe and cower--she left. And when, on her flight, her stagecoach was attacked and she was captured and enslaved by the Cheyenne, she made the best of things while never giving up her plan to reach her parents' home.

When half-breed bounty hunter Jesse Yellow Thunder wins her, she thinks her chance has come.

Yellow Thunder is scarred, weary of the bounty hunter life, but doesn't see any other future for himself.

What I liked most about Spirit's Song was Kaylynn. She was a very real character. She was strong and determined, but you could see the pampered daughter of wealthy parents underneath. Maybe most importantly to me, she never fell into the TSTL trap as so many heroines in her position do.

The ending was likewise realistic and satisfying, though I could have done without the obligatory wedding scene.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sprirt Song makes the magic last long!

OOH.. Yes in deed most definitely SPRIT SONG is MORE than a Top shelf keeper! I fell in love with also I cherish. I'll forever relish from front cover to back beginning to end, reading again & again .This bitter sweet Beauty meets the Beast love story is soooo remarkable tantalizing! From beginning to end its epic story of love held my attention. To sum it all up it's a total...aaaahaaaa...calgon take me a wayyyy moment, you just can't pass up!

5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING
Dear God, I love this book so much. I saw this at a free bookstore and decided to pick it up for fun. I'm so glad I did! I'm not usually a romance reader, but now I am. Whenever I'm feeling down, I flip to a saucy page and read aloud to myself for an automatic pick-me-up. This is a great guilty pleasure novel, it puts me in a good mood just thinking about it. It's sexy, adventurous, full of danger, troubles, heartache, and tenderness. Wonderful stuff. It's a shame that I happened to pick up the 3rd of the series rather than the 1st. Oh well, no matter. Now I am going to grab up the other 3 in the series. I simply can't resist!

5-0 out of 5 stars There is a series to read first.....
You cant go out of order with this series, because you would have missed out on all the great beginnings that set the "flow" for the books that come after it. Please readers: know that in order for a series to be great, there must be a GREAT BEGINNING to make a GREAT ENDING.

2-0 out of 5 stars Did not enjoy this book at all
I did not read the first book in this series and after reading this one i don't plan to. It was told in first person by someone Other then the characters described on the back of the book. There was very little in this book actually about Mary and Cloud Walker. It was mostly about Hannah and Shadow. I do not like books writen in the first person and this just shows why. The book goes back and forth between Hannah and Shadow, Hawk and Valarie, and Mary and Cloud Walker. This story had potential. and this is the only book by Madeline Baker that I do not like.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
Being the third novel in the series, Hannah and Shadow are now watching their children grow. I found myself back in their lives again. If you've read Reckless Love and Reckless Heart, you absolutely have to read RECKLESSDESIRE. You'll find yourself falling in love with Shadow all over again. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Brandy and J.T.
This book begins with J.T. (a quarter Lakota outlaw) being hung for stealing a horse in the 1870's. As the bar is pulled and he falls to his death his soul is swept forward to encounter his guardian angel, Gideon. Gideon has realized that J.T. never really had a chance to be a good person, with his background, his father leaving, his mothers death at a young age and the fact that he never really had a role-model to tell him what was right and wrong. So Gideon grants J.T. 1 year to turn his life around and his soul returns to his body. At this point the story switches to 120 years later where Brandy (who is half Crowe indian) is joining a wild west festival in the town where she teaches 3rd grade. The festival commemorates J.T.'s hanging and a reenactment takes place. After the reenactment, as Brandy is leaving, she hears a groan from the area where the hanging took place. Brandy knows that the body is not a real person (just a dummy created to look real for the hanging), but fearing a boyhood prank gone wrong she reaches out to the body hanging from the noose. As her hand touches the body she is swooped back to the past where J.T.'s noose breaks and he falls to the ground.
J.T. becomes in a rush to get out of town so he steals a nearby horse, and kidnaps Brandy to keep her from telling the locals that he survived the hanging. It does not take Brandy long to realize that she has gone back in the past and that she is somehow the possession of the famous outlaw J.T. Cutter, but she is not going to make this easy for him.
J.T. figures he has already blown his 1 year probation period by stealing the horse and kidnapping the pretty lady so when he stops by the nearest town he cheats at poker to earn some spending money to buy the necessary items to get as far away from the noose as possible. As they travel through Native American lands they encounter some of Brandy's ancestors and some of J.T. living relatives that he did not know cared about him. Can J.T. turn things around in 1 year? Even with Gideon whispering to J.T. what can and cannot be done? Can the love they find overcome, not only the differences between their native relatives, but also the fact the Brandy is from the future? What will happen when the 1 year is up?
Read this book to find the answers.

I thought this story was interesting and very touching. I thought the author went into alot of detail regarding the Native American tribes, which can paint a more detailed picture for the reader to imagine. For avid Madeline Baker fans this book is a must read. However, even if you are not an avid Madeline Baker fan I believe this book will spark interest to western/native american romance readers.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Angel & The Outlaw by Madeline Baker
I hadn't read anything by Madeline in quite awhile, I was not surprised that I couldn't put the book down. I just had not been doing much reading as of lately. Well picking up Madeline's The Angel & The Outlaw has put me into a reading marathon again. *S*
Madeline is one of my favorite authors of Historical Romance Indian stories, along with Roseanne Bittner's Arizona Bride many novels. This was only the second 'time travel' book I had read, at first I was skeptical, but oh it was just as exciting as all of her books. I have been hooked on Madeline's books since 'Reckless Heart'. I have bought Madeline's books for gifts many times.
If you have not read this book, I highly recommend The Angel & the Outlaw (Leisure Historical Romance).

5-0 out of 5 stars I Loved This Book!
I have to say that I love dark heroes and J.T. Cutter is one of the best. He aslo has a vunerable side that makes you feel and cry for him. I also enjoyed the banter he and Brandy have throughout the novel. I couldn't put the book down and the writing style and characters has got me hooked on Baker's novels. I went out and bought some more. I used to not buy western style romances, but this novel changed my mind.

I was never the type of person to be into romance novels, not the typethat is, until i picked up one of Madeline Bakers' books - this being thefirst one (I read it back in my freshman year of HIGH SCHOOL!) I absolutelylove the way she writes!! You'd think she's indian herself, but she's not. When i start a book of hers, it's hard to put it down - i have to almostforce myself from reading anymore - otherwise i'd probably get fired frommy job :-() I started one yesterday, Feather In the Wind, and i finished itlate last night, i just couldn't put it down! I've read other romancenovels, all sorts of mushy-gushy, lovey-dovey types, but Madeline Bakerdoesn't even compare!!!Ms. Baker puts history along with the romance intoher novels - that's one of the best things i love about her writing. Itused to be V.C. Andrews that i searched out for, but it has definitelyturned its way around to Madeline Baker!! If you love history, romance, and indians - you'll love ALL of her books!!!

One of the top books that I've ever read. And one of the most unforgettable.....

5-0 out of 5 stars My first .............and best!
This is the first romance novel I read, many years ago. I still count it as one of my favorites, along with the other 'Reckless' books. Hannah and Shadow are beautiful characters with a passionate and ever lasting love. There is a lot of description, but I think this takes us through Hannah's experience. She is the narrator of the story and she is learning all of this in order to be with the man she loves. We see how much information she has to assimilate in a very short amount of time.
I love this book and highly recommend it to everyone!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Way to Escape!
I loved this book! It's a great way to escape from personal problems and stresses. There is plenty of action, adventure and romance in this novel. I've read it at least 5 time since I got it! It is definately a great"bath tub" book.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is NOT a romance book!!!
This book was awful.I couldn't finish it, it made me sodisgusted.A woman in an agonizing, no win love affair with a violentman who makes continous bad choices. How could this woman love this man and give up everything for him?His stupidity brought her much pain and despair. It's a story of pain and suffering and I lost all respect for the warrior whose thirst for blood seemed to be more dominating than his love of this poor girl. There is no happiness in this book.None. Yuck Yuck Yuck.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best love story I've ever read!
If you like historical romance novels, you will definitely love this one. I read this novel over ten years ago and it has stuck with me ever since. It is a bittersweet tale of two lovers who caught between two worlds thatare at war with each other. As children they played together and lived ininnocent harmony. They are separated for awhile, but meet again after theyhave matured into adults. They fall in love, but hteir love is doomedbecause their people are at war with each other. It's a riveting tale thatwill stir a passion inside you that you won't forget. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Stand By Your Man!
Stand by your man! That's what Jassy McCloud did even when Creed Madigan wasn't her man LOL! They form an unlikely friendship when Creed protects Jassy from the advances of the town boys. Creed and Jassy are completely different but they have one thing in common... they're both outcasts. Creed is an half breed bounty hunter and Jassy is the daughter of a salon worker. Circumstances of death and wrongful imprisonment causes Creed and Jassy to run away together. Creed's plan is to help Jassy achieve the life that she wants and leave her forever. While Jassy's plan is to get Creed to stay with her and finally see that he is who and what she wants. Throughout their travel together there some funny scenes with Creed trying to resist Jassy's innocent seduction. Love conquers all for them and they find happines and the respect that they both strive to gain. I love this book. Yes, there was a age gape but I loved that Creed respected Jassy enough that no matter how much he wanted her he would not take advantage of her. He waited which wasn't easy for him but he respected Jassy and gave her the things that may seem simple to others but meant everything to her. Madeline Baker does it again!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfectly Sweet
I have read many Indian-White romance books but this one was very different. This is not your silly cliche books but very well written. Jassie's mother and sister are crib workers, something most people now days don't know what is, so Ms. Baker obviously done her research. Jassie is young and her attraction to an older man was very common in that day and time, not sick. Creed is a hard man, he has lived a tough life but he has not allowed misfortune to turn him into a brute. I almost cried when he buys food for little Jassie. Don't want to spoil it, so if you like romantic westerns with respect to that era, this is a good one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Couldn't get through it
Please do not bother with this book. I have never read anything by Madeline Baker before, so I can't comment on her writing in general, but I couldn't even get through the book. I had ordered it based on the wonderful reviews, but I found the writing to be stilted, and the plot to be amazingly cliche. The heroine was only 17 and the hero was in his 30's! He was supposed to be an experienced gunslinger, and the way Jassie spoke it sounded like she was a little girl, pestering him with questions. It was very hard for me to get past that, but even ignoring the large age difference, there was such annoying repitition. Creed kept saying that he really should leave town, but he didn't because he couldn't resist the heroine. Even the descriptions of the characters were overused, especially Jassie's "luminous" brown eyes. I felt as if the book was a short story within the first 100 pages that had for some reason been extended to include an even more boring plot. I was really very disappointed by this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unforgettable
Creed and Jassy's story was so amazing and beautiful! She made up her mind that he was the man for her and never lost faith in that, even when things seemed to be at their worst. Creed was a tough and hardened criminal who was determined not to lead Jassy into his rough life until he realized what he would be throwing away: his heart and soul. What a such a passionate story! I felt their pain and happiness, and even at times, laughter. I must congragulate Ms. Baker on another unforgettable book!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Notforgotten
I could not get interested in the book at firstbut I am glad that I decided to keep on trying to read it.It was a very good story, how I wanted to shake Creed to wake him up and see that love was looking right athim.I am so happy that Jassystayed and insisted to keep her love forhim and to find it else where.I even had tears in my eyes at times.Ireally wanted Jassy and Rose to get together ageain and find therelationship that sister's can have, but out of love Rose was there forJassy at the end.I am happy that Creed and Jassy did get to see therainbow's together for ever and she name her baby after Rose.I am hookedon Indian Romance Story's they are very passionate. ... If you have read one of her books you've read them all. This may be the only one on Amazon to have a low rating, but I think they all deserve it as they all have more or less the same story and the reader is told about the same Indian traits.

1-0 out of 5 stars Awful
He cheasts on her, but guess what? It's fine because he thought about her the whole time!!!!!!!!
This is one of the worst books I ever read.

1-0 out of 5 stars HATED IT!
Like the other reviewers, it started out okay. Up into the part where he shacks up with another woman, and then gets her PREGNANT! The worst part is she was understanding and sympathetic!I would not be understanding, I would of felt a little better about the whole situation if she would have punished him in some kind of way, at least cussed him out or pimp slapped and didn't talk to him for the next century or so, but nooooo she had to forgive. Now Really, was she that hard up for a man. I was expecting happyendings in a fictional romance. Love the arthur, hate this book. One star for me, I'm trading this sucker in for a better read.

1-0 out of 5 stars Hated Hated Hated!
Well at least I didn't spend money on this one I checked it out of the library. I ablsolutley hate it when the main hero has sex with another woman and gets her pregnat!! And then still confess to loving the heroine Bull****! And the heroine like lets him get away with it to boot she does nothing, says nothing to him that is totally unrealistic I could not even read the whole book through as soon as I read that the main hero was with another woman I pretty much gave up right there I did skim through the pages and let me tell you is just got worse I find out that the woman he was with turns out pregnat! I would give this book no stars if possible. Total Trash! ... Read more

Product Description
Hallie McIntyre intends to take her vows and live a cloistered life--until she finds a wounded stranger lying in Sister Dominica's garden. Against her better judgment, Hallie agrees to hide him from her Sisters and from the lawmen who come looking for him, and nurse him back to health.

When the law refuses to hunt down the men who slaughtered his family, John Walking Hawk takes the law into his own hands. Wounded and with a price on his head, he's on the run, wanted for exacting the justice that had been denied him.

Now, because of a twist of fate, Hallie finds herself falling in love with a man she never should have met, and making the hardest decision of her life. Turning her back on the convent, Hallie follows her heart, trading the peace and serenity of the convent for a different and far more dangerous life, risking security and freedom to become Hawk's woman.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hawk's Woman
Orphaned at a young age, Hallie McIntyre was raised by a group of nuns in a convent where she'd planned to eventually take her own vows of celibacy. Hallie never imagined how her world would change when she came across a wounded man in dire need of her help. Assisting John Walking Hawk while he recuperates from his wounds opens Hallie's eyes to the possibility that maybe there is more in life than prayer and abstinence. John Hawk is not a simple man; he's a man on a quest to avenge the rape and murder of his dead wife. A man who comes with the stigma of Indian blood flowing through his veins as he hands out his own personal brand of justice to the men responsible for tearing his world apart. Nothing will come easy for a mixed breed and a white woman in a land where justice isn't given to everyone and sometimes the weight of a person's past can be deadly.

Set in a world long since gone, Hawk's Woman is the tale of an innocent young woman who decides to follow her heart to happiness. Hallie was too naïve in the way of the world to be afraid of a man who was surely running from the law which made for a sweet love to build and grow. Taking a chance on Hawk, a man who couldn't see past his need for vengeance, Hallie showed a strength that belied her age and experience. Madeline Baker's novel will be considered by some a slow burning tale of romance. Outside of the instances of danger from varied enemies, human and animal, the story basically outlines a sweet and tender romance between a man who needs a reason to live again. A reason he didn't realize he already had without the guidance of a young woman's love. Hawk's Woman is heart warming historical and one readers who like their romance to simmer before the big pay off will definitely enjoy.

4-0 out of 5 stars not my genre, but still a good story
Nathan Chasing Elk has been in the brutal Yuma prison, wrongly convicted of killing his wife, for over four years, when he escapes, his only thought to see his daughter Leah again and to get revenge on the real murder.

He's seriously injured in the escape, and is found by Catherine Lyons, who takes him in.

Catherine is a young woman, living alone since her parents died and her younger brother abandoned her. Nathan frightens her, but he's also a solution to her most immediate problem: the Apache Marteen is determined to take her for his bride. Catherine has been putting him off, saying that her man is coming for her, but Marteen is losing his patience. Now Catherine can point to Nathan as her husband.

After Catherine nurses him back to health, Nathan's eager to be on his way to find his daughter, and Marteen is still determined to get Catherine by whatever means necessary, so Catherine accompanies Nathan on his quest.

And of course, they fall in love (this is a romance--it's a foregone conclusion).

It's not all that simple, however. Nathan is still a wanted man, still bent on revenge, and, most heartbreakingly, Leah believes he killed her mother.

The historical aspects of the story are interesting, and the emotional dilemmas Catherine and Nathan have to face are compelling. There are no easy answers for these two, and that makes it all the more satisfying when they earn their happy ending. I'd definitely recommend this if you're a fan of the sub-genre, but it's not quite enough to make me love it enough to overcome my sub-genre prejudice.

5-0 out of 5 stars This needs 10 stars
Madeline Baker can write Native American romance better than anyone I
have ever read, because to her the story and the Indian hero are more
important than the sex. Hope to see a lot more from her.

4-0 out of 5 stars A FOUR PLUS STAR - RECOMMENDED
Yuma Prison - Arizona Territory.
What a nasty Hell hole.
How does one survive the brutish mentality of the guards, especially when you know that you are not guilty of the crime for which you are incarcerated?

Four and a half years have led Nathan Chasing Elk to the point of trying to excape one last time.He has to find his daughter, he has not heard of her in almost 3 years.

Catherine Lyons is struggling to protect herself from Marteen the Apache who wants her for his woman while waiting for her brother, Mark to return. Well she has had it. She decides to strike out for Finley's Crossing and head east.

Marteen seems to bring Chasing Elk and Catherine together.
Catherine takes Nathan back to her ranch house. As time passes they are both under survalience by the Apaches and decide it is time to move out.

Chasing Elk can't leave Catherine behind as she seems to fascinate him.We get to follow them on a dirty, dusty trek across the Territory in search of Leah, Nathan's daughter.

Oh, oh Marteen is back.
Then a broken leg holds them up until there is danger of Nathan being recognized. There is another long trek to the Dakotas in search of Nathan's mother and her People.

This leads to a very important education for Cate and Leah when they finally find and make a summer home [after marriage]with Macawi and her family.Ah, but there is one more desperate rescue that Nathan must perform with the help of his step-father.

But, oh boy, Nathan finds out that Jim Buckner is in the vicinity and he decides to wreak his vengence on the man.Even bringing him in to the sheriff does not stop the miscarriage of justice once again. Will Nathan ever get to see Catherine and Leah again?

DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED [hey, no premarital sex and the story is still great.]

4-0 out of 5 stars I loved it!
I couldn't put this book down. It is the first Madeline Baker book I have read, but it won't be the last. I really liked the way she tied in geographic history with a very exciting plot and a very sensual love story. I really appreciated that the characters had high morals and showed that you can have desires and control them until the proper time!! and find REAL love.

4-0 out of 5 stars tense Indian romance
It has been four years six months and counting since Jim Buckner arranged for Chasing Elk to be sent to Yuma Prison, a hell hole of abuse from the likes of guard Fat Tom.Only revenge and seeing his daughter Leah keeps Chasing Elk going. When an opportunity arrives to escape, he takes it, but is severely injured in the process.

With her parents recently dead and Apache Marteen wanting rancher Catharine Lyons as his woman, she so far she has refused him using the excuse that her man is coming for her though she knows she will not have much time left to say no.She either must return to Boston or he will take her as her brother Mark is no protection. When a near dead Chasing Elk reaches her ranch at about the same time as Marteen and his retinue of braves, she claims he is her husband. The stranger agrees. As Catharine nurses Chasing Elk back to physical health and he begins to work the ranch, an attraction between them arises. However, Marten wants him dead; the law wants him in prison; Chasing Elk wants his daughter; Catharine wants his love. However, first his mind must heal if he lives long enough.

DAKOTA DREAMS is a tense Indian romance starring a courageous heroine and a battered male with demons screaming at him to avenge the death of his wife and to bring his daughter home, which he wants to believe, is at Catharine's ranch. The character driven tale is loaded with plenty of action as the key players will converge in a showdown.Though the support cast seems somewhat one dimensional, Madeline Baker's latest nineteenth century star-crossed romance contains a fresh fun story line.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Read!!!
In an era where it's forbidden for a white woman to love an Indian all seems hopeless for Shad and Loralee. Shad is a proud warrior that is drawn to Loralee's innocence and gentleness. Loralee is the sweet teacher who looks at the person, not their race. One chance meeting is all it takes for Shad and Loralee to become strongly attracted to each other. But with their attraction comes consequences. Because she's not sure where she stands with Shad, Loralee soon finds herself in a predictament that leaves her with not many choices. I felt no pity for Mike because he knew exactly what he was getting into by marrying Loralee. His hatred for Indians (Shad in particular) was a complete turn off! After Shad makes a drastic move to be alone with Loralee, everything changes for them. This is a great book! Normally I'm all about the hero but Loralee's strength and deep love for Shad is what made me fall in love with their story. I've several of Madeline Baker books and this is one that I've read many times and will continue to do so!

4-0 out of 5 stars Another hit !!
I loved this one as much as the others ; before i pick him up i read the reviews ithought it was a different story ; now i'm very pleased i bought it !!
Shad and Loralee were in love from the beginning ; i had no pitty at all from Mike because he knew all along what he was getting into ; Loralee would never love him and she only married him because she was desperate !!
I was very pleased with the ending , Shad and Loralee should always be together with their son !!
If you really enjoy reading romance books and put REAL LOVE above all things in the world you will love this book as much as i did .

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good reading
This book was very good reading.Once I started to read it, it was very hard to put it down.I only read Indian Romance books and this one was very good.I've read her books before, she is a very good writer.

1-0 out of 5 stars TOO MUCH DESCRIPTIONS
First of all, I didn't like the long boring descriptions in Love Forevermore.I found myself skipping long paragraphs a lot throughout the book. And secondly, I found the heroine frustrating and sometimes annoying.I did not like the way the hero and heroine in the book committed adultery and I did not like the way the heroine treated her husband. She should've left her husband or divorced him instead of running around with someone else behind his back and therefore humiliating him.Her husband was a good man and shouldn't have been treated so unfairly.I sympathized with her husband more than the couple.Overall, I found the heroine selfish and lacking in common sense.

5-0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put the book down!!!
It is definitely a must read! The hero and heroine is captured very realistically during the times when the Indians and Whites are not suppose to mix.The physical hurt that Shad has to endure for Loralee really takesmy breath away. The suffering that both of them went through just to betogether in the end......it really shows REAL love.If you haven't readit.....GO AND GET IT!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Interesting Read!
I am reading this book now and want to keep it when I am done reading. This book has held my attention from the first page and through more than half of the book. The main characters come across excellently. Shadow, the main character, is a Cheyenne Indian chief who, many years ago, met a young girl and became friends. Later she meets Shadow again and her love for him keeps growing and his love for her is mutual. The book is written as if it is telling the history of the Indian tribes of the West and the author goes into detail describing the battles and the other hardships that the Indians faced from the white man. There are times of joy and sorrow mixed into the story and the action scenes are quite dramatic. Shadow comes across as a man of much wisdom, compassionate, a man who a woman can really trust and feels safe in the comfort of his embrace. It's a book that, once you start reading it, you wont want to put it down. Madeline Baker has written a #1 best seller and I rate the book very highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unforgettable...
If you bought the first book you'll defintely want to continue with the second one. This series if you haven't realized it after reading the first book is a "MUST HAVE" for your nightstand.

4-0 out of 5 stars Happy endings all around
This story continues to follow Shadow and Hannah, whom we met in Reckless Heart, as they endure a few more hardships and raise their family. It is a very quick and happy read. The book description is a little deceiving because Josh doesn't have a large part in the book. There really isn't one story to the book, but rather many stories that happen to the entire family over a period of about 15 years. If you haven't read Reckless Heart you will not be lost since all previous situations are well expained. If you did read Reckless Heart you will be glad to learn more about the family.
Continue the series with Reckless Desire and then Reckless Embrace.

I have read several Native American romances and have really enjoyed them, but I just thought this was ok.I never felt a real conection with the characters.Another reviewer mentioned a lack of "fire" between the main characters and I completly agree. The ending also agrevated me as well.Their love didn't seem as strong to me as it should have been.It might have had something to do with the heroine being a romance writer.I think that constant reminderactually did not allow me to forget that I was reading a romance and become immersed in the world.I found myself skipping pages to get to the end so I would at least know how it ended. If you like Native American romances you should check out Navajo Night.I enjoyed the love story more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Romantic and multidimensional
It is an interesting and unpredictable story from beginning to end. It touches many different topics. It is not just the typical romantic story, but also historic with a touch of science fiction.I really enjoyed reading it.

I'm not really into time travel romances. I've only read one other one that I liked and that was Son of the Morning by Linda Howard. So my expectations were not that high that this one was going to be good, but I was WRONG!! I read it in one afternoon and I haven't did that in years. Feather in the Wind is not your typical Indian warrior, white woman story. Read this book you will not be disappointed!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Most definitely one of my faves!!
I started reading this book and honestly I didn't want to put it down. Finishing it in like 20 hours or so I was so sad for it to be over..lol I really can't compare it to anything I have ever read because it is in a category of it very own. With mystery, excitement, and love I would have to say that everything about this story is a real page turner. The characters are unforgettable, loveable, and just amazing! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT!!
This book is incredible!
The heroine is newly widowed and inherits her late husbands family ranch, which is rumored to be haunted and cursed. Keeping her head level, she is anxious to get started on remodeling projects because she wants to get her mind off of her late husband's death.
Things immediately start to take off from there, the "bumps" in the night, the cold breezes coming from nowhere, and the glimpes of "something" from the corner of her eye. When she decides that house really is haunted, she's more curious than afraid. The story unfolds into a wonderful heart warming tale that you'll want to read over and over and over again.
I absolutely fell in love with the hero, and the story takes you places you've never been before.
This one is a definite keeper, especially if you love stories that warm the heart.
This book, a nice cozy blanket, and a nice hot cup of coffee are just what the doctor ordered!

Loved this dook. I thought it was wonderful that Dalton was a ghost and fell in love with Kathy Before traveling back in time. I found their romance exciting and fun. I simply couldn't put down this book. I own many Madeline Baker books and love them all(except one), this one is no exception.

5-0 out of 5 stars Madeline Baker at her BEST!!!
This, like "First Love, Wild Love" is one of Madeline's books that will stay with me for a life time! Dalton Crowkiller is a man that will live in my memory forever. Like one of the other reviews said, "Eddie Little Sky" must have really made a lasting impression on Madeline when she modeled these characters after him. All I can say is that I am sorry that I never met him, but felt like I have after reading this book! Thank you Madeline for such a romantic, on the edge of your seat best book I have ever read. I will read it again and again ... Read more
