4-0 out of 5 stars An Inspirational Testimony!
I really liked Stephen Baldwins Testimony of How He became a Christian. How it all fits into Gods plan and How it all came about.
I really liked some of His Anologys, like "Get in the Game" You don't have to win it cause it's already Won,just start playing, and Why don't We spend as much time on Christianity as we do on Golf, and get that "sweet spot feeling"
All in all it was very Inspirational although there were some parts towards the end I did not agree with.
I recommend this Book if you want to Here How God took Stephen Baldwin and turned Him into a Hardcore Christian Jesus Freak Livin His life for Christ kinda Guy. That is what, I think, God really wants of us anyway. Not Part of your life, ALL of your life, after all, We belong to Him. God Bless

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Message
I sort of understand where the reviewers that gave this lower ratings are coming from... The writing style is different. However, it seems to me that this book is written exactly how "Stevie B." would speak to you if you were having a conversation.

The thing I hope people don't do is get so hung up on the writing style that they miss the message of this book. I really appreciate his ideas about the way to truly live a more "hardcore" Christian lifestyle.

Don't give up on the writing and risk missing out on an excellent book!

5-0 out of 5 stars This book helped change my life!
Stephen Baldwin tells his story of what led him to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It touched me in a special way and lit a fire in me to share my own experience with others.

5-0 out of 5 stars great book!
I bought this book out of curiosity, hoping it might be worth the money.. By the end of the book i was totally inspired.. i would recommend this book to anyone who has questions about the christian faith and has a desire to do something bold and crazy for God. We only get a short life here on earth and any one of us is able to really make a dent in this world if we are willing! Hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Surprising Look into a Celebrity's Embrace of Christianity
Stephen Baldwin presents himself without pretense in this unusual book of a celebrities awakening to the Christian faith and the need to change his life.

Certainly written with frankness and truth, I'd suggest this as a gift for a new Christian--or one who isn't quite sure about his faith.

The reader may be surprised by some of Mr. Baldwin's confessions about himself, but they make the book even more honest.

Highly recommended.

Product Description
Stephen Baldwin explains why he compares his new life of faith to jumping out of an airplane without a parachute, and calls on you to take the plunge.

When Stephen Baldwin was riding the wave of fame from his most successful movie, The Usual Suspects, he thought he was in his glory. Hot in Hollywood--whatever Stephen wanted, Stephen got. Years later, happily married and living his life far from Hollywood, Stephen happened upon Christianity via a most unusual conversion. Now Stephen takes us behind the scenes and tells the stories we've yet to hear--of celebrity fun, curious family, and hardcore faith. He takes an in-depth look at the church's current role in society and the extreme faith movement. It's obvious Stephen has identified his new role in life--that of a Christian--a role more radical than anything in Hollywood. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book, enjoyable to read, 5 stars
I enjoyed reading this book. It was never dull. Stephen Baldwin is very direct and straightforward. He tells some stories from his personal life and weaves these into his message. Although I disagree with him on some issues, I still found myself respecting his opinions. I think it takes a lot of courage and guts for a Hollywood celebrity to come forward as a Christian today. However, I did not feel it relevant for him to discuss George W. Bush. Even though GW Bush claims to be a Christian, I never really saw much evidence of that in the way he conducted his presidency. I would still recommend this book to just about anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent
I received my products in a timely fashion and in excellent condition...I would certainly recommend this seller to others...Thank you and may God bless and prosper you.

2-0 out of 5 stars I Was Too Hasty Judging Alec
This book introduces a new species: The Christian Egomaniac.

Characteristics of this egomaniac include(but are not limited to)incessant referrals to himself as "Stevie B." which make it necessary for the reader to keep a wastebasket handy. Should the reader subject themselves to extended "Stevie B. Gospel", vomiting is sure to follow.

Seriously, I'm as happy as the next Christian that another coke-snorting, whoremongering Hollywood actor found Christ. But the 300 page lecture to follow on how the church has got it all wrong is well, typical Hollywood.

According to Stevie B., we need to close all the churches, quit feeding and clothing the homeless, abandon missions, and put all our money in skate parks. Oh, yeah, and guys like Michael W. Smith and Kirk Cameron? You're history. It's Gospel rap, or nothing.

I wonder if Stevie B. ever goes back a year later and sees how many of his "saved" skaters are plugged in to a church? Any church? He doesn't know, but I do. The fall away rate is over 90%.

Stevie B. must be a heck of an embarrasment to the Palau Organization. They just don't know how to tell you it's been fun.

Unfortunately, the fun was all over before this book was published. Look elsewhere.

I forgot my manners. Mom always taught me to recommend an alternative.

You'll get a lot more from "The Way of The Master" series by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron. It's available here on Amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Eye Opener
This book has really opened my eyes to alot I did not know or understand.I really am glad that I have had the chance to read it.God Bless Stephen Baldwin.

I'm going to keep this really short and would like to thank Mr. Baldwin for writing such an inspirational book.I found this book to be challenging as well as encouraging to desire God more. Thanks so much Stephen.

And,
I really want the readers to really think about what he says in this book. I really seriously think you should ponder and consider alot of what he says. Don't expect to be life-changed when reading the book.

Product Description
When Officer Andy Myers met Loraine Phillips, he had no interest in her son. And he certainly never dreamed he'd respond to a call, finding that same boy in a pool of blood. Even more alarming was the father standing watch over his son's body. Myers had never seen a man respond to death-particularly the death of a child-in such a way. When the father is charged with murder and sentenced to death, he chooses not to fight but embrace it as God's will. Myers becomes consumed with curiosity for these strange beliefs. What follows is the story of the bond these two men share as they come to terms with the tragedy and the difficult choices each one must make. (2006) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Stephen Baldwin
Stephen Baldwin is one of the most inspirational human beings I have ever had the great blessing of meeting and reading his books. He keeps me hanging on every word, because he has been touched by the hand of God, and is willing to share this with as many people as he possibly can.
I highly recommend purchasing this book. You will not be sorry, it is worth every penny and minute of reading time. God bless Stephen for taking the time to share in this way!

1-0 out of 5 stars VULGAR
I can say yes this is fiction, is the only good thing about this book. One, I really doubt that Baldwin had a hand in writing this book at all but only lent his name to it.Fact there is a Trask, Indiana it is three buildings now that consist of a converted one room school house to a home and closed kennel and two homes. It is located in Grant County and is at the point where Wheeling Pike and State Road 26 meet.It is in the middle of a rural farming community and has always been.I'm sure Baldwin has no clue of these facts. As for the other writer Mark --, coming from Knightstown I doubt he knows the history of Trask.
I only hope the two made significant donations to the University of Ball State for using its name.Don't waste your time on this trash. If you want the life inspiring stores don't settle for make believe trash but read the true stores in the BIBLE that will guide you in the true path and forget these false teachings that may short term influence you.If the author(s) which term I use lightly, wanted to inspire don't use false vulgar subjects and language to prove a point there are to many actual truthful subject matters to tell about. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ did use such stories to guide and teach.FOR SHAME ON BOTH OF YOU.

5-0 out of 5 stars To the point right to the end
Stephens first book Unusual Suspect was written like I never seen a writer write before. He has a very unique way that he cuts out most of the fillers is his stories but you still get the whole picture. I couldn't wait for him to write a new one and it is everything I expected and more it holds you right to the end!

3-0 out of 5 stars The Life & Death of Gabriel Phillips
Good book.Easy reading.Quite an unusual ending and sort of disappointing at the end.Not what I expected.

4-0 out of 5 stars Powerful Story Crosses Serious Christian Fiction Lines....

Christian publishing has crossed a barrier with the publication of The Death and Life of Gabriel Phillips.

For starters, this story is compelling. Told through the narration of Andy Myers' son. The son he never wanted, I might add. Narration is not my favorite point of view because it tends to lack intimacy. But I connected with the characters in Death and Life. I also love crime fiction and Death and Life is full of cop/legal drama. The writing is creative and easy to read and the story is positively page turning.

I mentioned that Christian publishing has crossed a barrier with this story because the dialogue is peppered with raw language -- think PG-13. I am not super offended by language and am able to watch or read something and not get caught up in coarseness if the story is compelling enough. Death and Life is full of three, four and five letter words that will stomp on sensitive toes.

Interestingly,I've seen a lot of debate in Christian author loops that discusses this issue and the challenge of writing real and raw when the characters are limited to "Aw, shucks, Ma'am." The fact that Stephen Baldwin has opened the door is going to ease things for the storytellers who want to write real if it includes raw. The bottom line consensus in this debate seems to be that story does rule. And in this case, The Death and Life of Gabriel Phillips shares a story that is worth reading. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Choosing God's Best for Your Life
Are you expecting short term results or is your focus on eternity? Luis Palau challenges us to look beyond short term "fixes" and instead focus on living a God-driven life. In ten chapters Palau and his co-author Steven Halliday guide you through making decisions between "life's good" and "God's best". Will you choose pleasure, or happiness? Sex or love? Relief or peace? Activity or significance? Through personal stories from both Palau's life and the lives of many people he's touched through his festivals he illustrates the trade-offs in each choice. At the beginning of each chapter there's a bulleted list comparing the two options. For example in chapter 1 "A Festival in Your Heart" the choice is between pleasure and happiness and the bullets under pleasure are: external, sensory, fleeting, solitary, limited capacity. The bullets under happiness are: "internal, wholistic (sic), enduring, shared, and boundless capacity. The rest of each chapter goes on to give examples of each way of life and at the end of every chapter is a list of main points with references to specific verses in the Bible. If you've been feeling restless and wanting to know more about living a God-driven life, this book gives good examples of what that means. Palau writes in an engaging fashion and his passion for bringing as many people to the Lord as possible leaps from almost every page. If you've ever seen him speak, you can almost hear his voice in your head as you read. I'm sure this book will be picked up by many Christians, I'd like to suggest that it would make a great read for seekers as well. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars National Theatre Of The Deaf (NTD)
If you are interested in learning about Deaf culture and entertainment, this is a book well worth your while. It is filled with information as to how the NTD came to be, who the founding members were (as well as members beyond that time), what plays were performed up until the writing of the book. There are some photographs as well.

A good bok with good information, but not the most exciting read you'll find. It's also not up to date, but it gives you a good idea. Recommended by this deafie. :v)

The book ended with an invitation, asking people to take the first step and try Jesus. GET DANGEROUS shows what it means to live every day as a sold out, hard-core, nothing-held-back Christian.

Included in this confrontational, passionate, yet loving book are Stephen's thoughts on the mission to which all Christians are called, how to prepare for it, and some of the strategies for getting it done.

5-0 out of 5 stars Young at heart
Spirit Warriors is an excellent Christian comic book for ANYONE who is young at heart and for everyone who enjoys old-fashioned comic books.
Even though the book is Christian oriented, it can be enjoyed by anyone, irrespective of one's religion.
I'm already in my 40's and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Set in a fictitious, futuristic time in a city called "New City," one encounters the youngsters Mia, Nano, Faith, Jon, Davy and Hailey in their battle against the evil Elder Seiko and his accomplice Pastor Promise.
The drawings are very vivid in an old-fashioned comic book style and the story is easy to follow.
Totally recommendable for all ages!
Personally I cannot wait for book number 2!

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing. Just know what to expect.
I was hoping this book would be along the vein of my favorite blog, Stuff Christian Culture Likes, which is also written by a pastor's kid and is open-minded and edgy. I soon discovered my expectations were misguided, however. Though Turner seems to think his observations and opinions are refreshing and edgy, they would only really appear that way to someone who is still very much a part of baptist/evangelical culture and has never ventured outside of it. When Turner switches from teasing about a silly Christian culture norm to sharing advice, that is when you realize that his belief system and theology still falls squarely in the conservative, most likely Calvinist, camp. He doesn't explain why certain cultural practices or beliefs are misguided; rather, he just points them out and concludes with a "that's ridiculous!" Most of the time I was left confused as to what he was actually trying to do, and what message he was trying to get across. For example, when he makes fun of the audience at a Rebecca St. James concert for cheering her decision to save herself for marriage, he then goes on to say that he also made that decision and is committed to that principle. So there are a lot of mixed messages in the book.

I think the person who would most enjoy this is someone who is very much on the inside and shares the evangelical/fundamental/baptist worldview, but wants to be able to laugh at the culture they live in. For anyone from outside--whether you're of a different type of Christian denomination, a person who has "escaped" that kind of Christianitybut still has faith, or if you are a non-Christian looking for a humorous inside look at evangelical Christian culture--you will not find what you are looking for here.

Based on other reviews, it looks like most readers of this book (myself included) had a different preconceived notion of what they wanted this book to be.In fairness to Turner, that'snot his fault and he can't please everyone. My primary goal in writing this review is to clarify what the reader should expect so to prevent others from making the same mistake I did.Based on the descriptions of his books, I excitedly bought 3 of them. I read this one first, was disappointed, but still hopeful that the next would be good. I got a couple of pages into "Churched" before I decided I didn't want to read any more (it was the jab at infant baptism that turned me off).As a Lutheran Christian who spent 4 years at a Christian Bible college with strong Baptist leanings, I was much more of an "outsider living on the inside" than Turner probably ever will be. I was hoping his books would be comforting, but instead I felt I was reliving the pain.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute, funny, weird
I have mixed feelings about this book. It was a brisk read, it was definitely funny and insightful... but I couldn't pin down the genre. It's definitely satire, but it's also structured like a book for people interested in immersing themselves in Christianity.. and contains a confusing and sloppy mixture of satirical and sincere advice. It was also somewhat awkward because the author appears to be just as dorky and awkward as the goofy Christians he mocks..

I would certainly never give this book to someone interested in becoming a Christian, because it paints a hideous picture of Christianity. But it made the afternoon fun. It also made me want to check out the authors new book, "Churched" to hear more about his experiences... I'm guessing personal storytelling is his real talent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny stuff.Love the cover even!
As a Christian author myself, I see a HUGH need for humor in the Christian world. Turner does a great job of putting the mirror up to us in a very entertaining way.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not what I hoped for. . .
I have read several other books from this same publishing company, and the majority of them have been excellent. With this book I was expecting (based on advertisements, real reliable, I know) a book filled with witty, saterical observations, yet holding warm insights and encouragment to sort through this culture of Test-a-mints and Maranatha Music to get to the real Jesus and not the hokey version we see what too much of these days. Ya, it wasn't that at all. It was full of bitterness and just plain bad advice (like encouraging church hopping and not commiting), not to mention the childhood stories of a kid growing up in a very weird, not normal "christian" culture. Like, TV Movie soap opera kind of weird. I am pretty dissappointed with this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Matthew Paul Turner, Get out of my head!
Run, don't walk to your credit card and order this book. Matthew Paul Turner's description of many well intentioned church folk hit's the nail on the head. I kept thinking as I read that he'd somehow read my mind. Order this book and hear Matthew articulate the thoughts that have been floating around in your head for years.

I look forward to reading the other titles that he's written! ... Read more

She portrayed Sarah Roberts on One Life to Live from 1994-1997, and Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light from 1996-2000. Panettiere reached a wider audience with her starring role as Claire Bennet on the 2006 NBC television series Heroes. Panettiere was born in and partly raised in Palisades, Rockland County, New York, the daughter of Lesley R. Vogel, a former soap opera actress, and Alan L.
