Product Description
The late antique Church father, Augustine, fascinated writers of the Italian Renaissance. They perceived him to be a conduit of classical and Christian truths, and an example of the life of the intellect reconciled to a life of faith. This book traces the availability and the reception of Augustine from the fourteenth to the mid-sixteenth century, and discusses the saint's influence on thinkers and humanists, such as Petrarch, as well as his representation in works of art. The religious order who claims him as their founder sponsored several major fresco cycles portraying the life of the saint, while, in single portraits, artists alluded to Augustine's aesthetic theory as it was manifest in his concept of divine illumination. The Sistine Chapel represents the fulfillment of his theological and philosophical legacy, one that began in the fifteenth century and extended through the completion of Michelangelo's 'Last Judgment'. ... Product Description
I am Princess Meredith, heir to a throne of faerie. My day job, once upon a time, was as a private detective in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, princess has now become a full-time occupation.

My aunt, Queen Andais, will have it no other way. And so I am virtually a prisoner in faerie–trapped here with some of the realm’s most beautiful men to serve as my bodyguards . . . and my lovers. For I am compelled to conceive a child: an heir to succeed me on the throne. Yet after months of amazing sex with my consorts, there is still no baby. And no baby means no throne. The only certainty is death at the hands of my cousin Cel, or his followers, if I fail to conceive.

Now Mistral, Queen Andais’s new captain of the guard, has come to my bed–defying her and risking her terrible wrath in doing so. But even she will hesitate to punish him in jealous rage, because our joining has reawakened old magic, mystical power so ancient that no one stands against it and survives. Not even my strongest and most favored: my Darkness and my Killing Frost. Not even Mistral himself, my Storm Lord. But because Mistral has helped to bring this magic forth, he may live another day.

If I can reclaim control of the fey power that once was, there may be hope for me and my reign in faerie. I might yet quell the dark schemes and subterfuges surrounding me. Though shadows of obsession and conspiracy gather, I may survive. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars More magic and power to all
It helps if you have read previous books in this series, this one didn't explain the previous ones very much. Mistral's kiss starts where A Stroke of Midnight left off. The plot in this one is doing the Goddess' will, bringing magic back through sex, there's a scene with Abe, Mistral and Sholto. Consort and Goddess appear to Sholto and Merry, helping bring back life to the Slaugh dead gardens. Then Sholto calls on the wild hunt and there is a battle with the Sidhe and Goblins. Mistral brings back life to the UnSeelie dead gardens. Pretty much all the book Merry is running around naked with her Royal Guard. This book was 300pgs, mostly bringing magic back through sex. There could have been more plot to it, hopefully that happens next book.

4-0 out of 5 stars good read
Great series.I love this author but this was not my favorite in the series.

3-0 out of 5 stars MEREDITHGENTRYFIVE
Let me summarize MISTRAL'S KISS.One hundred pages of sex, one hundred plus pages on entering by accident the land of the sluagh and King Sholto, some trouble, more sex, meet some gods, one hundred pages for a run from slaugh wild hunt, talk to the queen and get ordered back to the west coast.Thats it.I agree with some others, this book could be chapters in another. Disappointing. At least half was erotica.Reluctantly on to book six.

3-0 out of 5 stars A little better, but still had problems...
This was a little better than the last book in the series, but it still had problems. It was really the last 1/3 of the previous book and isn't a stand-alone. It seems that the author/publisher decided to end the previous book at a specific word count, then save the rest as another book. This resulted in no real beginning or a cohesive plot for this book. It had more action than the last book, however, so that helped save it a little. There are still too many mid-sex scene/mid-action scene dialogues that last for pages and pages (and pages). (Note to author... consider getting a better editor.) I'll keep reading, but still hope for improvement with the next book.

2-0 out of 5 stars First time for any of her books
I checked this(audio book) out of the library (thank goodness) instead of purchasing it.This is the first time that I've read/listened to any of her books. It took me a while to get into it everytime I started to listen, I'd pop the cd out and choose a different audio book.I like to listen to books as I work. I did this until I only had Mistral's Kiss left before I had to go back to the library for fresh material. The story is thinnnnnnnnn! And it's very annoying that the reader couldn't pronounce Mistral correctly!Other than that which is very annoying by the way..Mister al is how she pronunces it, the book has made me want to check others that she's written, perhaps they will be better.I always love to find an author with a large vein of material to mine. ... Excerpt: John Kenneth Leveson Ross CBE (1876 - 1951) was a Canadian businessman, sportsman, Thoroughbred racehorse owner/breeder, and philanthropist. He is best remembered for winning the first United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing in 1919 with his Hall of Fame colt, Sir Barton. J.K.L. Ross was born in Lindsay, Ontario, the only child of Kingston, New York native Annie Kerr and her husband James Ross, a wealthy co-founder of the Canadian Pacific Railway, a prominent art collector and the first Canadian to be made a member of the Royal Yacht Squadron. He grew up in the Golden Square Mile at his father's French Chateau-style mansion, 3644 Peel Street, designed by architect Bruce Price which was eventually bought by John W. McConnell and donated to McGill University which renamed it Chancellor Day Hall. Ross was sent to study at Bishop's College School in Lennoxville, Quebec then at McGill University. He played for the McGill ice hockey team and was a member of the university's Canadian football championship team. In cooperation with prominent Montreal businessman, Sir Herbert Holt and others, Ross established Côte St. Luc Realties in 1911 which built the town of Hampstead, Quebec. In 1909 he built another home at 3647 Peel Street, opposite his father's, now known as J.K.L. Ross House, designed by William Sutherland Maxwell. Excerpt:Bishop's University is a small liberal arts university in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Located in the borough of Lennoxville, Bishop's is one of three universities in the province of Quebec that teach primarily in the English language (the others being McGill University and Concordia University both in Montreal). The university shares a campus with its neighbour, Champlain College Lennoxville, an English language CÉGEP. It remains one of Canada's few primarily undergraduate universities. Established in 1843 as Bishop's College, the school remained under the Anglican church's direction from its founding until 1947. Since that time, the university has been a non-denominational institution. Bishop's University has a strong academic history, and has graduated fifteen Rhodes Scholars. Bishop's UniversityBishop's College was established by Bishop George Jehoshaphat Mountain in 1843 for the education of members of the Church of England and erected into a University in 1853. Product Description
Chesterton declares that it is fashionable to boast that one cannot understand Browning but he reveals in this fascinating literary biography how Browning 'combines the greatest brain with the simplest temperament'.

This is a multi-faceted biography and critique of Browning's work. Chesterton takes us from his early life to his early poems and shows us how his life impacted on his work to produce a biography of great depth and sensitivity.
