5-0 out of 5 stars A Session With Dr. Jennifer Melfi
Me:Dr. Melfi, I just finished reading this great book about the actress, Lorraine Braccco.

Dr. Melfi:And??

Me:I found out that even people who are famous and are looked upon as our idols, still have the same issues that we non famous people have.

Dr. Melfi:And how did that make you feel?

Me:It was wonderful to see an absolutely gorgeous and fine actress choose to be involved with wrong men all her life. She was depressed, as many of us have been in our lives, she is tough but in the end found her toughness and her age to be a positive thing and she was able to use her new found sexiness, in her 50's to be very powerful and fulfilling.

Dr. Melfi:As a man, how do you feel about her talking about how sexy she feels at 50?

Me:I have always felt that Ms. Bracco was gorgeous, sexy with that raspy Brooklyn accent. It was very alluring to find that she considered herself sexy after many years of depression and finding herself not really what she wanted to be.And then to find out that she played a nude scene in the Broadway show of "The Graduate," was just icing on the cake.

Dr. Melfi: Is there anything else that you can tell me about this book?

Me:Oh yeah.I would love to have a sit down talk with Lorraine Bracco, so that I can see the real person inside that lovely skin and talk to her about her marvelous book.I am certain that even though I am older than she, I would be shy, but then she would somehow put me at ease, because that is the kind of person she is.

Dr. Melfi:Sounds to me like you really enjoyed your reading.

Me:I truly would recommend it to anyone who would like to have an insight into an actress that has been to hell and back and still has kept it together and bares all to her readers.Dr. maybe you would like to read it.

Dr. Melfi:Well with the high praise that you give it, maybe I will give it a try.

Dr. Melfi:Our time is up for today and I can truly say that you have enlightened me not only about Lorraine Bracco, but you can see a little of yourself in her struggles.Good session!!!Congratulations!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Bracco Looks Backward
This well written memoir is great for someone at the beginning of self improvement or co-dependency treatment or the 12 Steps.Unfortunately, Bracco's self awareness is not as well developed as her wonderful writing style. She blames alot of people, particularly ex Harvey Kietel, for her misjudgements. That weighs down the book immeasurably. With more careful editing of those chapters, this would be a four star rating.

5-0 out of 5 stars Truth, as we know it...
Ms. Bracco has writeen an excellent book. She is most known for her "Sopranos" role as Dr. Jennifer Neli.Yet, a wonderful actress for many years. She candidly tells of her heartaches and woes in her marriage to Harvey Keitel and the frustrations of marriage to Edward Olmos. Her candid relplays make for interesting reading. Her review of her years with "The Sopranos" are entertaining to read and funny too.I highly recommend this book by Ms. Bracco to everyone.

Slightly disappointted with this one.
started off full of promise about depression and her journey but i found it to be more about husband bashing.no doubt she married a less than desirable person but i wanted more about her journey and i dont believe it was all caused by him. depression is not something we catch because of who we are with, its part of who we are. ...
