From the supplier: MTV's coverage of singer Kurt Cobain's death was disappointing, but it still succeeded in anticipating the needs of American teenagers. MTV regularly interrupted its normal schedule to bring news of the Nirvana lead singer's death. However, the same clips of interviews with two writers and song videos were aired repeatedly. Some compared the MTV coverage to coverage of the Gulf War and of John F. Kennedy's assassination. In reality, other news organizations were the ones to interview people close to Cobain. MTV News' editorial supervisor Michael Shore stressed the positive response the coverage received from viewers.
