Product Description
In keeping with his no-holds-barred on-air style, conservative radio talk show host Jerry Doyle has the guts to ask the tough questions. Why is our financial system failing, and what can we do about it? If President Barack Obama purports to mirror JFK, how come his policies are virtually the opposite of Kennedy's? Why are we teaching our children to strive for mediocrity with organized sports and games in which no one is allowed to win or lose? Will American capitalism survive Obama? (The verdict on that one is already in: It has not.)

Have you seen my country lately?

Jerry Doyle is sound, simple, funny, and direct as he delivers his hard-hitting take on the important issues affecting our country -- some straight from today's headlines, some that haven't yet seen the light of day -- and urges all Americans to take back the things that make our country great. In this informative, entertaining, and challenging narrative, he sounds off on:

  • ECONOMIC FASCISM -- the government's rapid domination of the economy, beginning with the egregious takedown of GM
  • POLICY POLICE -- light up to save the country, or, the self-righteous nationwide war on smoking vs. our financial reliance on the tobacco industry
  • BAILOUTS -- from Fannie and Freddie to AIG: the missteps, the wrong moves, and the rules of salary caps, bank buy-ins, and bonuses that changed from day to day
  • NANCY PELOSI -- and other creatures of the political swamp whose lies and illogic on the war were ignored or unquestioned by the Left
  • CONGRESSIONAL SLEAZEBAGS -- The Ethics Committee's use of alleged indiscretions -- sexual and otherwise -- of Republican representatives to destroy their careers while disregarding the same violations by Democrats
  • EDUCATION -- the unnatural obsession with children's rights and self-esteem at the expense of education and how it's destroying the teaching profession and fostering an obnoxious self-entitlement trend
  • MEDIA SENSATIONALISM -- the reaction to Michael Jackson's death and the war between Perez Hilton and Carrie Prejean, and what they reveal about the media, morals, instant celebrity, and our sanity
  • PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA -- Apart from his easy swagger and histrionic appeal to emotion, exactly how in the world did he do it?
  • Here is the book that Jerry Doyle's fans have long awaited -- his deeply personal call for the country to truly unite and recognize that freedom and liberty require constant vigilance and resistance to the arbitrary exercise of government power. Doyle encourages us to seize the day, to think big and follow our convictions -- much as he does in his own life, a fascinating success story of his rise to fame as an actor and talk radio superstar -- and to embrace the burgeoning resurgence of true idealism.

If you like your politics straight up, with a common-sense chaser and a shot of dry wit, you'll be galvanized and enlightened by Jerry Doyle -- the man, his story, and his insights into America today. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
This book explains the issues that the country is going through at this time and it comes from someone that experienced these problems first hand. A helpful guide to open up peoples eyes and get involved in taking our country back

5-0 out of 5 stars Why did this happen?
Great book, great read, but sad sad sad. I would say it was an eye-opener if one had been asleep at the wheel for the last 20 years or so. After reading this book, you have to ask yourself, how did this happen? How did we let this happen? JD takes a broad topic and leaves no one untouched. When your go-cart (i.e. our country) gets pushed down hill, and you are headed for the cliff, you want to see who was responsible for pushing you towards disaster, and who on board is going to help you apply the brakes (or not!).This book tells you who you DON'T want in your go-cart and who has pushed us towards disaster.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking
I've never listened to Jerry Doyle's radio show, so I read this book without any preconceived bias.He is clear with his points, makes many great ones, and does so with a fine sense of humor. Not only informative and an eye-opener, it is also entertaining.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Courageous Call to Arms
Jerry Doyle is not your average Hollywood type. He's not your average conservative talk show host. What he is can be found on the pages of this book.Mr. Doyle has interwoven well researched and thought provoking ideas into his story that gives you insight as to why he believes what he does instead of just a straight shot of conservatism all wrapped up neatly in a package.I enjoyed his insights on what we face today in this country and where our current leaders are taking us.While I didn't agree with every conclusion he made, he did his homework for this book with a well worked out notes section indicating where he went to get a lot of the quotes, facts and figures that he uses. However, even in the midst of that, Doyle's personality and sense of humor show through in way that makes you feel more like you are sitting down and having a cold one with him rather than reading a book by him.If you are looking for someone that still has optimism for his country, he's your guy.If you're looking for a book that just might help convince that stubborn relative or friend that still believes in the current brand of "change" that is portrayed in the Obama administration that they need to rethink their vote, this is the book.Lots of common sense, great humor and love for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are all through it.Bottom line...buy the book. You'll be glad you did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely Relevant-Jerry Doyle is the Man
Babylon 5 was my favorite show of the 1990s.And Jerry Doyle as Chief Garibaldi was one of my favorite characters. Now Jerry has done something even more heroic than the things Garibadli used to do.After the show was cancelled, Jerry came out of the closet as a Conservative Republican in that liberal cesspool known as Hollywood.(Even more shocking was the fact that I heard there were actually 2 more Republicans in the cast of B5, someone alert the thought police.) After an attempt to run for Congress as a Republican, Jerry was blackballed in Hollywood. He has since become a very successful Conservative talk-radio personality.
Anyway this terrific book is a plea to fight back against the corruption of Washington and the attempt of the current regime in power in the White House and Congress to control every aspect of our lives. Jerry worked on Wall Street for 10 years. Thus much of the early part of this book concerns the economic disaster the Obama administration is sending us to.(The part where Jerry decribes Obama's take-over of General Motors and Chrysler will make your blood boil, it did mine.)
Later on Jerry describes the hard-left radicals from the 1960s, who play such a prominent part in this current administration. This was my least favorite part of the book since I remember that period very well.It was depressing to relive it again.
Jerry later delves into the Washington swamp and those creatures who thrive there: Reid, Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Hillary Clinton, etc. This chapter is similar to other books I've read. However one never tires of reading of the ignorance and corruption of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and their ilk.
He ends the book by talking about today's heroes and a call to action to all Americans to take their country back.
This book is well-documented, well-written, amusing at times and very important.I highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Changing of the Paint
This is a beautiful color picture book of B&O, C&O and Western Maryland diesels as they became Chessie diesels (and even several pics of them becoming CSX diesels later). Even the Appalachian scenery in the background of many pics is terrific. I added this to my Western Maryland collection as sort of an "end of the WM era" book, giving "closure" to my WM books and memorabilia.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chessie System Diesel Locomotives
Another excellent publication by TLC.Beautifully presented, well bound, presentation great.Text brief but informative, photos excellent.A great reference for the railroad modeller and rail buff.A good buy and anessential addition to the bookcase although it will be out more often thanin the bookcase.Great for overseas railfan/modellers like me. ThoroughlyRECOMMEND.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chessie System Diesel Locomotives
This is a wonderful reference for Chessie System Diesel fans. The presentation is top notch and quite innovative. While the text is primarily captions and tabular data, the color photographs are uniformly excellent. Each page is trimmed with the Chessie System colors creating a stikingpresentation. One aspect of the layout that I did not likewas the waythe captions are enclosed in small text boxes inside the photos. I wishthat the book designers had placed the captions outside of the photos.Allin all this is an excellent book and a good reference for diesel modelersand railfans.

4-0 out of 5 stars Chessie System Diesel Locomotives
While there are a very few "word glitches or text errors" that I have noticed so far, I have to rate this book very highly. The photography is excellent and on par with other very good color RR books. TLC Publishinghas come a long way and this book is well worth its price in my opinion. Irecommend it to any Chessie fan. ... Read more

Complete rosters and data on C&O's transition to diesel power and experience with first and second generation diesel locomotives, through the C&O/B&O era up to Chessie System. C&O, the ultimate steam railway, opted for diesels saying they were a stopgap measure until a Coal-Fired Turbine could be developed, but seeing the economics, the company quickly embraced diesel power and forgot steam. This is the most complete story yet on this fascinating subject, illustrated with great color photography, plus black and white images. Includes painting and letter data. Ideal for railfans, C&O enthusiasts and modelers.

Excerpt: Glenn Lawrence Burke (November 16, 1952 (Oakland, California) - May 30, 1995 (San Leandro, California) was a Major League Baseball player for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland Athletics from 1976 to 1979. Burke was the first and only Major League Baseball player to be out to his teammates and team owners during his professional career. He died from AIDS-related causes in 1995. They can't ever say now that a gay man can't play in the majors, because I'm a gay man and I made it." - Glenn Burke Burke was named Northern California's High School Basketball Player of the Year in 1970, and could run the 100 yard dash in 9.7 seconds. He was able to dunk a basketball using both hands - a remarkable accomplishment for someone who was just over six feet tall. He was considered capable of being a professional basketball player, but his first offer came from Major League Baseball. When he started his baseball career, many of the scouts described him as the next Willie Mays. Although he is commonly thought of as 'the player who invented the High-Five' the High-Five was widely used for at least a half-century prior to Burke's adaptation of the gesture during baseball games. In 1977, Burke ran onto the field to congratulate his Los Angeles Dodgers teammate Dusty Baker for hitting a home run in the last game of the regular season. His celebration has since been imitated by athletes and fans in virtually every sport around the world. Another High-Five came moments later when Baker returned the favor in celebration of Burke's first major league home run. Glenn was also an accomplished high school basketball star, leadin...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=2505784 ... Read more

Read more
