a book to watch
there is something about this book which grabbed me from the start and wouldn't let go. it is fast-paced, intriguing and quite original in style. there are several levels of mystery; something for both amateur and seasoned sleuths. highly recommended.

A Maine novel of an old mystery
This book takes you on a sail, From Portland Maine and through the mind of a 35 year mystery. A grandfather dies and leaves his grandson the legacy of finding out what happened in his life and what he had discovered that had caused the deaths of at least 6 people. It is written in a style that is unique and almost a journal of memories. 1933 and thru the world war it takes a stange and very intriquing journey. Excerpt: Savaric (sometimes Savaric FitzGeldewin or Savaric FitzGoldwin or Savaric de Bohun) (died 8 August 1205) was an Englishman who became Bishop of Bath and Glastonbury in England. Related to his predecessor as well as to the German Emperor Henry VI, he was elected bishop on the urging of his predecessor, who urged his election on the cathedral chapter of Bath. While bishop, Savaric spent many years attempting to annex Glastonbury Abbey as part of his bishopric. Savaric also worked to secure the release of King Richard I of England from captivity, when the king was held by Emperor Henry VI. Savaric's date of birth is unknown. His father was Geldwin, who was a member of the Bohun family and was probably a second cousin of Reginald fitz Jocelin, Bishop of Bath. Geldwin's father was Savaric Fitzcana, who held Midhurst in Sussex. The elder Savaric's wife was Muriel, who was a granddaughter of Humphrey de Bohun. The younger Savaric's mother Estrangia was a Burgundian and related to the Holy Roman Emperor Henry VI. Savaric's elder brother was Franco. Thus the younger Savaric was a cousin of Emperor Henry VI and also of Reginald Fitz Jocelin, his predecessor as Bishop of Bath. He was archdeacon of Northampton in 1175 and Treasurer of Salisbury in 1174. Robinson broke the baseball color line when he debuted with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. As the first black man to openly play in the major leagues since the 1880s, he was instrumental in bringing an end to racial segregation in professional baseball, which had relegated African-Americans to the Negro leagues for six decades.
