Product Description

The Making of the West offers a geographically and culturally expansive conception of the West that prepares students to understand today’s globalized world. Its integrated chronological narrative makes the impact of historical developments clear by highlighting the interconnections among the politics, people, and ideas of a specific period. From the book’s conception, the authors — a team of renowned scholars and expert teachers — have worked to provide a new vision of the West based on cutting-edge scholarship. The narrative — enhanced by a rich and informative art and map program — distills the latest research and consistently treats topics underserved in other books: the West in global perspective, high and popular art and culture, and gender.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad service.
I never received the ordered product even though I was charged for it. The seller never contacted me to inform any problems. Instead, I had to go through amazon to get a refund. I would not recommend ordering from this seller.

5-0 out of 5 stars 1 AWSOME page turner!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This book is just down right full steam from beginning to end! I would not quite know how to deal with the death of my child. Whether their is 1 or more. To lose something wordlessly dear, it is just unimaginable. Youalways expect your children to bury you....not you burying your children. And to have so much evidence of foul play???? I would continue to searchout everything I could even if I went broke doing so. There seems to beenough there already to restart another look at this crime.

Please readthis story and share it with your friends. You'll be glad you did!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A real page turner!
To try and imagine the tramua that this family has endured is incomprehensible. Then to realize that the people you should have been able to believe(the police) have been covering up direct information that isvitial to finding the killer and bringing him to trial. The facts describedthrough the family's own investigations are very convincing to the pointthat if I were a detective I would have to reopen the case and do anotherwhole investigation of my own. There are just too many unanswered questionsthat if a proper investigation would have been done, there would be nounanswered questions. I wish I were and outside investigator. I would wantto reveiw this case for my own satisfaction and to prove that our legalsystem is honorable. That NO ONE is "ABOVE THE LAW." No matterhow much money or power you have. If you break the law you pay- just likeeveryone else. I will follow the story and look forward to the next bookthat will hopefully show that justice has prevailed. ... Read more

Product Description
When a child is born, the parents celebrate, and alltheir family and friends celebrate with them. But if that childdies--before birth, or as a baby, teenager, or adult--it sometimesfeels as if the parents grieve alone.Surely only a bereaved parentcan know the excruciating pain, stark terror, and devastating upheavalexperienced by a person whose child has died. But those people closeto a bereaved parent also have pain, fear, and discomfort--and thefrustration of not knowing what they can do to help.Bonnie HuntConrad is a firsthand authority on child-death grief. Her experienceis the kind of tragedy all parents fear most: her nineteen-year-olddaughter was shot to death at a fairgrounds in 1983.During thegrieving process she has had to deal with an entire "wash cycle ofemotions," including shock, terror, denial, guilt, anger, helplessness, and perhaps worst of all, the feeling that she wasinsane. One of the meaningful insights Bonnie Hunt Conrad acquiredfrom her experience is that parents usually need help to overcome theruinous and debilitating effect their child's death has had on them. This help can come from professionals, but it can also come fromanyone at all, at any time and in any place.Short and to the point, this guidebook provides an easy-to-read reference for bereaved parentsand all others struggling to understand the feelings and behaviors ofa parent in grief. ... Product Description

A team of renowned scholar-teachers created The Making of the West to address three of the biggest challenges teachers of western civilization face — demonstrating how the West has been an evolving entity shaped by global influences; conveying the dynamic interaction of social, political, cultural, and economic history in shaping events over time; and revealing the historical roots of developments in today’s world. Through a ground-breaking chronological synthesis, the narrative deftly weaves together the main events, people, and themes of a specific time, thus providing a balanced, easy-to-follow story line. New aids to guide student reading and enhancements to the book’s organization bring the essence of western history to the fore in the most accessible edition yet.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible service
Not on time, and still don't have the item, it has been a month since I ordered and never emailed me back about anything like when they would ship it or even what they were doing. I would never buy from this person if you are looking at their items.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Buy...Good Price
Normally this book is over $100 dollars in my college bookstore and it wasn't offered "used" so it was great to see this at such a good price!

It was a bit more "used" than I thought it would be, but that is ok, I can still read it!

I needed this book asap for class. It arrived the very fast within a day or two.It was in great condition and very helpful.Great seller.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good textbook
This is a good textbook in that the facts are condensed and their is very little editor opinion. However being so condensed does mean that more detailed information will need to be researched for essays and exams. Overall I would recommend this to anyone wanted a good history book.
