Excerpt: Moon Hee Jun (Korean: ) is a South Korean musician formerly of the group H.O.T. "Alone" is the debut album of H.O.T.'s former member Moon Hee Jun. The music and the words of all the tracks in the album, except for "Ibyeori Animeul (이별이 아님을)," which was an adaptation of Auld Lang Syne, were written by Moon. He also created PS Entertainment after leaving SM Entertainment. Before H.O.T. was disband in 2001, there were many detractors of Moon. It appeared that some overacting fanatics of H.O.T. made other people uncomfortable with the group. This became a significant social phenomenon in South Korea after Moon became a solo rock artist; uncountable parody pictures, texts, and musics of him flooded over the internet. Feeling that these were unfair insults, Moon once appealed for people to stop this in a newspaper interview, and the article about it on the web recorded more than 320,000 comments because of his detractors swarming on it, called seongjisullye(성지순례; literally means 'pilgrimage'). . In 2008, Moon Hee Jun returned from military duties, and in March 2008, he released his single Obsession . ...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=2269096 ... Read more

Product Description

As scientific research increasingly requires the efforts of globally diverse, multidisciplinary teams from different laboratories and organizations, there surfaces a need to facilitate this kind of collaborative work. These large-scale scientific initiatives, where information technology plays an important role, are termed e-Science; e-Science activities employ geographically distributed resources like high performance computing facilities, scientific instruments, databases, and high performance networks.

Future Application and Middleware Technology on e-Science presents selected papers from the 2008 Korea e-Science All-Hands-Meeting (AHM 2008). Hosted by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), the Korea e-Science AHM was designed to bring together developers and users of e-Science applications and enabling information technologies from international and interdisciplinary research communities. The AHM 2008 conference served as a forum for engineers and scientists to present state-of-the-art research and product/tool developments, and to highlight related activities in all fields of e-Science.

The following topics concerning e-Science are covered in this volume:

  • e-Science applications in Physics, Astronomy, and Chemistry
  • e-Science applications in Bio-medicine and Life science
  • e-Science applications in Geo-science with remote sensing
  • e-Science applications in Climates and Earth systems
  • e-Science applications in Engineering (Aerospace, Ship, Automobile, and etc)
  • Grid technologies (Computing, Data, VO, and etc)
  • Collaborative science models and techniques
  • Enabling technologies of Workflows and Web services
  • Resource management and scheduling
  • Problem solving environments
  • Scientific data management
  • Application development environments
  • Robust and transparent middleware
  • Programming paradigms and models
  • Software engineering tools
  • Community development and engagement
  • User outreach, training, and documentation

The works presented in this edited volume bring together cross-disciplinary information on e-Science in one cohesive source. This book is suitable for the professional audience composed of industry researchers and practitioners of e-Science. This volume is also suitable for advanced-level students in the field.

From the author: The high melt viscosity of polypropylene was studied by grafting bifunctional monomers, 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate (HDDA) and tripropylene glycol diacrylate (TPGDA), onto homopolypropylene (HPP) and random ter-polypropylene (RTPP) under electron-beam irradiation. Creation of the high-melt-viscosity polypropylene was possible at low radiation dosage and low monomer content, under a prohibition of both radiation degradation and homopolymerization. TPGDA monomer was more effective in increasing the melt viscosity of HPP compared with RTPP, whereas HDDA monomer was more effective for enhancing the melt viscosity of RTPP. Such different effects of monomers on melt viscosity may arise from different monomer structures, namely, TPGDA has additional three methyl groups, but HDDA has no methyl groups. Electron-beam radiation technology, on an increase of the melt viscosity, was much more effective in HPP than RTPP, when compared with virgin polymers. Modified RTPP and HPP with high melt viscosity were capable of foaming with numerous fine cells, of which the modified HPP with 1.5 mmol TPGDA and 0.5 kGy could create more spherical foam cells and its bending strength was 1.5 times more than that of the foamed RTPP. Product Description
This digital document is an article from Polymer Engineering and Science, published by Society of Plastics Engineers, Inc. on May 1, 2009. The length of the article is 3141 words. The page length shown above is based on a typical 300-word page. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available immediately after purchase. You can view it with any web browser.

From the author: This work focuses on the development of a new type of surface-relief grating (SRG) using more effective materials than a typical epoxy-based azopolymer for the recording layer of optical data storage. Thus, aniline-based azopolymers were synthesized by reaction of /vyA/-diglycidylaniline with aniline (An) followed by diazocoupling with 4-aminobenzonitrile or 4-nitroani-line. Such azopolymers when spin-cast from THF/dioxane showed better diffraction efficiency than those cast from THF alone due to residual dioxane creating a large free volume in the solid state. A second diazocoupling reaction of the diazopolymers initially obtained produced polymers with 6/s(diazobenzene) substituents which exhibited a higher saturation level of the diffraction efficiency for a thicker than for a thinner film. Azopolymers in which the diazo substituents incorporated hydroxyl groups ortho to the diazo unit were obtained via the reaction of the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A with aniline or 3-hvdroxyaniline followed by coupling with diazotised hydroxynitroaminobenzene. These hydroxy groups, presumably as a result of their H-bonding to the diazo-N, effectively prevented the photoisomerization of the chromophores, so that the polymers showed no SRG at a normal laser intensity of 100 mW/[cm.sup.2]. Polyurethane-based azopolymers, synthesized with toluene-2, 4-diisocyanate and disperse orange 17 containing no hydroxyl groups in the main chains, showed better diffraction efficiency than the other azopolymers with nitro group substituents.
