He was best known for wrestling in southern United States wrestling promotions as Tommy Lane, one-half of the "Rock 'n' Roll RPMs" with Mike Davis.Jones started wrestling in the NWA's Central States promotion under the name Tommy Rogers (not to be confused with the Tommy Rogers of the Fantastics tag team).He later started wrestling as Jeff Gouldie, the (kayfabe) son of Archie Gouldie, who also wrestled as the Mongolian Stomper, which also allowed Jones to adopt the nickname Mongolian Stomper, Jr.Jones went to the World Class promotion, which at the time was still affiliated with the NWA.
