Product Description
August 1989: Jamie Kennedy arrives in Los Angeles from his home in suburban Pennsylvania with grand plans of becoming a professional extra. He's determined to make it in Hollywood even if it kills him - which it very nearly does. Soon he's caught up in the desperate underbelly of showbusiness: playing Bart Simpson at kids' birthday parties while they pelt him with apples; appearing as a Jerry Lewis strip-a-gram; and auditioning for the part of a dancing yolk in the California Fresh Eggs campaign. But there's even worse to come. After a disastrous stint at RADA (during which he is forced to steal food from the buttery), having his kidney removed, being mugged for his trousers and sharing a flat with a homicidal nutcase, Jamie winds up sleeping in his car. He's got two choices: quit and go back to Pennsylvania, or come up with a cunning plan. Ingeniously, Jamie invents fictional agent "Marty Power" in a last-ditch attempt to kickstart his acting career; Jamie plays the roles of agent, personal assistant and even courier, and incredibly the trick pays off. Soon, half the casting agents in Hollywood are claiming to be old friends of Marty's.His big break - a small role in Baz Luhrman's "Romeo + Juliet" - leads to a string of appearances in hit films such as "Scream", "As Good As It Gets" and "Three Kings". Now Jamie has producers knocking on his door, rather than the other way round, and he's commissioned to write and star in his own hidden camera show, "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment". He's made it at last - after ten long, painful years. "Wannabe" is the story of how he survived. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars good read
This is a very interesting story about JK's path through the entertainment biz. It is very well written and fun to read. The stories ring true and JKs personality seems to come through. I've enjoyed the JK Experiment series a lot, so it's a treat to find out more about who he is. Definitely recommended for anyone who has seen his show.

5-0 out of 5 stars WANNABE GREAT READ!!!!!!
i LOVED jAMIES BOOK WANNABE I COULDNT PUT IT DOWN. I HOPE HE WRITES ANOTHER BOOK TO CONTINUE WHERE HE LEFT OFF. I TOLD ALL MY FRIENDS THEY HAVE TO READ IT THATS HAVE MUCH I ENJOYED THE BOOK.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is a very enjoyable read!
I watched his show JKX for a few seasons and my wife and I found the show to be VERY funny. The best bits are the folks who apply for the paper delivery job and the skit with the driving instructor. In my opinion the all time best was when he had the mexican day laborers over for his birthday party.
Anyway, this book shows the struggles and nonsense that he went through before getting on TV. It is well written and doesn't really gloss over the nonsense he had to put up with. And there is a message in here but you'll have to read the book

4-0 out of 5 stars A fun book.
I really enjoyed reading about Jamie Kennedy trying to make it in Hollywood, it was years of humiliating jobs, and lots of money down the drain on get famous quick scams, but he clawed his way to the middle, and planted his flag.

I have to admit, I wonder how truthful some of his stories really are, but I'm sure he told it as he really remembered it. I really admire him for having a dream, and making it happen.

He also spins some funny stories about his encounters with celebrities, my favorite was when he was working at Red Lobster, and Arsenio Hall came in, at first he didn't recognize him, and told him there were no tables available, and then recognized him, and got really excited, and then Arsenio asked if he had a table for him now, and Jamie said, "no". Funny stuff, definately worth a read.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must read!
Outstanding! What a life he has had so far. This book is not only hilarious, but it makes you believe that nothing is impossible no matter how many times you get knocked down. ... Read more

Excerpt: Dame Vera Lynn, DBE (born Vera Margaret Welch on 20 March 1917) is an English singer whose career flourished during World War II. Nicknamed "The Forces' Sweetheart", the songs most associated with her are "We'll Meet Again" and "The White Cliffs of Dover". Lynn was born Vera Margaret Welch on 20 March 1917, in East Ham, then in Essex, now part of Greater London. Vera Lynn went to what is now called Brampton Primary School in East Ham. Her father was a plumber and Vera Welch grew up with her parents' Cockney accent, which can still be detected when she speaks. She began singing at the age of seven in a working men's club, and later adopted her grandmother's maiden name for her stage name. Lynn's first radio broadcast was in 1935 with the Joe Loss Orchestra. She was already being featured on the records of dance bands, including those led by Loss and Charlie Kunz. She made her first solo record on the Crown label in 1936, "Upon the Wooden Hill to Bedfordshire". (The label was soon bought out by Decca.) After a short time with Loss, she sang with Kunz. Lynn then joined the dance band of Bert Ambrose. In 1940, one year after the beginning of World War II, Lynn began her own radio programme, Sincerely Yours, sending messages to British troops serving abroad. She and her quartet would perform songs most requested by the soldiers. Lynn also visited hospitals to interview new mothers and send personal messages to their husbands overseas. During the war years she would tour Egypt, India, Burma, giving outdoor concerts for the troops. In 1942, Lynn recorded the Ross Parker/Hughie Charles song "We'll Meet Again", also appearing in the film of that n...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=19359797 ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Willy the Scrub triumphs on its own terms
WILLY THE SCRUB is just the book you have been waiting for to give to your son or daughter who is interested in sports but can't find good sports books that are accessible to them. Don't be fooled by the book's seemingly simple language or by its gentle humor. In a sophisticated and engaging way, McEwan presents the world of athletics as your children know it to be: a battlefield of egos and status, a minefield of insecurities and disappointment--and yet a place where good-hearted and hard-working friends can find success and happiness. You will love the book for the refreshing and hopeful message it sends to your children.Your children will love it because it shows the world as they know it to be. They will also love the witty and insightful dialogue. Especially recommended for late-elementary school children who are reading slightly under grade level. ... Read more
