Product Description
Nobody ever promised Laura (except maybe her high school Spanish teacher, and she never understood what he was saying anyway) that life was going to be easy. And sure enough, it wasn't.From her high school talent competition where she performs a stunning syncopated "funktastic" dance to "Car Wash," to her first job and subsequent dismissal at the local all-you-can-eat steakhouse, to the ultimate revenge fantasy of a stand-up comic who has been heckled one too many times, this is a sardonic look into the everyday workings of a performer and her not-so-stellar life.Wildly irreverent and darkly comic, these stories will make you laugh, cringe, and ultimately identify. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, well-written, fabulous, READ THIS NOW!
This is a very funny book. You will like it if you have a brain and a sense of humor.

3-0 out of 5 stars Though a fun read, it's not funny
These stories generally lack Kightlinger's sarcasm and bite, with the exception of the discussion on the items left in grandmother's casket. Her frankness and lonliness still make the stories a good read.It was not all that funny like I was expecting it to be.

1-0 out of 5 stars Garbage
This book is one of the worst I've read. Can't believe my friend convinced me to waste my money on this.

She's honest? Right. That's what she wants you to think. Try unconvincingly cynical in the most brattiest possible way. Go spend your money on something that's actually worth it. Like Clifford the Big Red Dog.

3-0 out of 5 stars Original, Worth Reading, but very Depressing
I enjoy Laura's standup but the book was classified as a comedy and I think I laughed only once while reading the book.Dark humor is something I'm quite found of and I'm a huge fan of movies like the Royal Tenebaums which is why I've been drawn to Laura. (Not to mention she's unnecessarily attractive)The book is depressing and even though I found her teen years interesting, it was harder to identify with her being male.I was also disappointed with Laura's ability to see life so one dimensionally, I understand she's been through a lot, but then so has everyone!I wanted to just give her a hug and so life isn't so bad, or good, its just life.I'd recommend this book to my cynical female friends who enjoy dark humor, that's about it.

5-0 out of 5 stars heartbreakingly hilairious
Laura Kightlinger, like no one else, finds the humor in some of life's darkest most awkward moments!I laughed out loud. For that matter, I cried out loud!Looking forward to more from this talented woman! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cute book!GREAT photos!
I read this to my fifth graders every year... seriously! They love the photos and, unbeknownst to them, they learn something about the USA.Who knew Mr. Potato Head had such a big family?

5-0 out of 5 stars I didn't know that Mr. Potato Head could be so cool
Mr. Potato Head across America is a wonderfully visual book dealing with the sights "across America."I loved it.

The basic premises of the book is Mr. Potato Head is going to his family reunion in Burlap,Idaho. He is from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, so he has to travel across thecountry. While traveling, he decides to catch the sights.

What Ireally liked about the book was how crisp and clear the photographs were. There are some really great shots of Mount Rushmore, The White House andOld Faithful at the Yellowstone National Park.Having Mr. Potato Head ineach one of the pictures adds to the enjoyment of the book.

I enjoyedseeing the pullout of Mr. Potato Head's family reunion in Burlap, Idaho.Ididn't realize that he had such a big family.

I didn't expect this bookto keep me amused from beginning to end. This book was a great adventurefor Mr. Potato Head.

One thing that was definitely educational about thisbook was the fact that there is a map of the United States at the back ofit. They mix up four of the states so that the reader has to findthem.

Since I'm always looking for children's books for my nephews,Ithink that they will really enjoy this book.I didn't think that I wouldlike it as much as I did, but Mr. Potato Head is just cool. ... Read more
