Product Description
UNSUSTAINABLE is packed with information that is vital to every taxpaying American. It reveals shocking information that has long been hidden from the public. It exposes how governments at every level hide the pay and exorbitant pensions they provide to themselves and use accounting trickery to keep taxpayers from knowing of the enormous costs and long-term liabilities.

MacDougald shows how the federal government keeps $106 trillion of debt hidden from taxpayers, and how state and local governments hide another $3 trillion. He exposes exactly how governments often trick taxpayers into agreeing to pay more and more taxes to "save schools" or "provide police protection" when the money really goes to more pay and bigger pensions.

UNSUSTAINABLE details how public sector unions have become a "money pump," taking taxpayer dollars paid to public sector workers, then given as union dues, and then used for political contributions to politicians who will support the extraction of even more taxpayer dollars.

The provocative and controversial book also documents and exposes the huge financial catastrophe that is about to befall Social Security, "baby boomers" and our younger workers and how it will threaten our economy for decades.

UNSUSTAINABLE addresses the "jobs squeeze," detailing how the private sector lost 1.5 million jobs in the last decade even as government grew by 2 million. And it reveals how Congress passes laws that they know violate our Constitutional rights and gets away with it.

It is a book that all Americans, no matter what their politics, must read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Government Ponzi Scheme
Bernie Madoff has nothing on our Federal, State, and Local governments when it comes to creating a financial house of cards. The government isn't required to follow standard corporate accounting rules or disclosures. No, our government, at all levels need only adhere to the rules of the Government Accounting Standards Board which doesn't require the disclosure of public liability and deficit spending for the egregiously generous retirement benefits of the public sector.

This book is must-reading to understand how the private economy is being ripped-off and swindled. Our politicians have been enormously generous to public workers, but have hidden these current and future liabilities from the taxpayers. The book also explains how politicians scheme to create an ever larger dependency on government by creating new programs to win votes.

Wonder why Social Security is broke? The Feds. took all that money and left potentially worthless IOU's.The only security is for public employees who's retirement benefits are not only guaranteed, but far richer than anything we schmucks in the private sector could dream of .... and they often retire 10 to 15 years earlier!

Sure, public employees pay taxes, but we pay the taxes that pay the salaries that enable public employees to pay their taxes. What many don't realize, as the years go by there are fewer and fewer of us private sector employees to pay all this freight.

As others have said, the truth presented in this book will make your blood boil. We, in the private sector are suffering, but our rich friends in the public sector are sitting fat, dumb, and happy.

This situation is out-of-control and UNSUSTAINABLE!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
This book is a "must read" for every American!MacDougald makes a clear case against government run amok.

As the current administration spends the United States into oblivion, we can more clearly understand how we got here and what the poor fiscal policies of current and past administrations have done to an unsuspecting electorate.Personal greed on the part of state and federal politicians and employees will lead us down a road we never intended to go as free people. The road back to liberty can only begin with knowledge.I recommend this book as a great place to start!

5-0 out of 5 stars READ THIS BEFORE YOU VOTE
This book opened my eyes to the astounding lack of transparency of the public sector and unions.Abusive practices such as spiking and
drop plans are sure to enrage the private sector taxpayer.Contributions made by public sector unions to elect politicians who will without question support their agenda is maddening. The use of union dues to endorse only union friendly candidates is a unrelenting repetitive cycle.Jim MacDougald is right, citizens deserve honest transparency and accountability without all the smoke and mirrors.Recently, the situation in Bell, CA came to light. This is a prime example of out of control government. How many other Bell, Californias are there? This book focused the readers attention on the fact that the demands of many are shouldered by an ever decreasing number of citizens in the private sector. The recommendations given to stop this downward spiral are common sense based and give us hope for the future.Jerry Barbosa, Fredericksburg, TX

5-0 out of 5 stars Left or Right, this book is our wake up call.
The research done for this book is something I thought the so called "watch dogs" of government were supposed to be doing. The facts presented by Mr. MacDougald should shake any tax paying, liberty loving American to their core.A huge number of our elected representatives and public employees are clearly putting themselves first and then actively deceiving us about it.

This book has helped me to understand what is really going on with our government today, be it local or federal. The focus is not how to best provide services for the citizens.Services, and the debate over them, have become the vehicle to distribute money to people in government.

I have utilized the facts published by Mr. MacDougald to engage friends, relatives and neighbors in conversations that are clearly eye-openers for them. No matter how you identify yourself politically, you will be alarmed by the realities revealed in this book about our so called public servants. Before supporting any candidate or entering the ballot booth, read Mr. MacDougald's book.

When the electorate has a balance of knowledge and real facts, government will work better for them.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Dose of Reality
If a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, you're going to need a 5-lb. bag to ingest the potent stuff in MacDougald's book. But it's worth it. Every chapter gives American voters a behind-the-scenes tour of what they may have read in the newspaper (about debts and deficits, unfunded pension liabilities, and "double-dipping" pensioners)... along with a healthy dose of what the government makes sure they never hear about. From the way the government fattens its payroll at the expense of the private sector to the frightening power of unions, each chapter serves as a primer for the truth-starved taxpayer. If you'd rather not have your information filtered by the press or political machines, read this lay-it-on-the-line account of our nation's current situation. But you'll also find that MacDougald offers suggestions for turning things around. As tempting as it may be to retreat to your bed and pull the covers over your head, summon up the courage to take your medicine ... you'll be glad you did! ... Read more

Excerpt: Nelson Ackerman Eddy (June 29, 1901 - March 6, 1967) was an American singer and movie star who appeared in 19 musical films during the 1930s and 1940s, as well as in opera and on the concert stage, radio, television, and in nightclubs. A classically trained baritone, he is best remembered for the eight films in which he costarred with soprano Jeanette MacDonald. He was one of the first "crossover" stars, a superstar appealing both to shrieking bobby-soxers as well as opera purists, and in his heyday was the highest paid singer in the world. During his 40-year career, he earned three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (one each for film, recording, and radio), left his footprints in the wet cement at Grauman's Chinese Theater, earned three Gold records, and was invited to sing at the third inauguration of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He also introduced millions of young Americans to classical music and inspired many of them to pursue a musical career. Nelson Ackerman Eddy was born in Providence, Rhode Island, the only child of Caroline Isabelle (née Kendrick) and William Darius Eddy. His father was a machinist and toolmaker whose work required him to move from town to town. Nelson grew up in Providence and Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and in New Bedford, Massachusetts. As a boy, he was a redhead and quickly acquired the ni...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=695709 ... Read more
