Good as she is atportraying complicated women, Robin Mattson is an even better cook. Aprofessional chef as well as an actor, Mattson has put together morethan 150 of her favorite recipes in Soap OperaCafé. Since the camera adds pounds, Mattson has become anexpert at creating reduced-fat dishes that are light, fresh, andfabulous to eat: Pepper-Crusted Tuna Steaks, Ziti with Broccoli andFresh Tomatoes, Hawaiian Flank Steak with Mango Salsa--these dishesand more will tickle your palate and satisfy your hunger.

Inaddition to her own mouth-watering creations, Mattson includes recipesfrom her costars and friends. And if you're looking for a little dishfrom a daytime star, she provides that, too, with plenty of anecdotesabout her lifestyle, her career, and her colleagues. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Uncomplicated Recipes
I found this cookbook easy to follow and the recipes uncomplicated. You can't go wrong with the Spicy Asian Meatballs, Garlic Cheese Spread, or the Low-Fat Cheesecake among others. I have used many of Robin's recipes forcocktail parties and they are a huge hit.Great advice and fun storiesfrom her personal life all make a good read.Just wish Robin still had hercooking show on Lifetime. The fact that I have met her on severaloccasions and she is always warm and friendly, makes this all the moreenjoyable!

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific Cookbook!
I already have two favorites; ROBIN'S FIESTY PASTA, and FETTUCCINE WITH ZUCCHINI AND FRESH TOMATOE SAUCE.My family always welcome their arrival to the table and I enjoy cooking them.It was surprising how simple theywere to prepare and how great tasting in the end. Being a fan of AMC forover 20 years, knowing more about Robin made it even more enjoyable. Iplan to give it as a gift this Christmas.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Worth It!
This is actually the first book I've thrown away. The characters were shallow, the plot was silly, just no substance. They were ready to jump each other right when they met!I just didn't get it, thought it was really a soft porn story, way too much sex!

3-0 out of 5 stars Breakfast in Bed
Sloan Fairchild has spent her entire life feeling worthless. It happens with her family and anyone else she loves. She decided to put herself into her B&B.She was content until Carter Madison came into her life.He was trying to finish his novel, and needed some peace and quiet to complete it.They both felt the attraction, but he was her friend Alicia's fiancé.As they both try to fight their feelings, they fight a losing battle.

This is one of the first Sandra Brown books I read, and find myself pulling it out to reread it again and again. It is a classic story.

2-0 out of 5 stars Early Sandra Brown

Sloan Fairchild has spent her life feeling second-rate.Her parents are so involved in each other and their careers as Egyptologists that they barely acknowledge Sloan's existence expect as a glorified assistant. Her fiancé made no secret of the fact that he found her staid and boring, and left her behind without a glance when he found someone better.Alicia is a good friend to her, but Sloan has always felt she paled into insignificance compared to the beautiful and vivacious woman.Recently, Sloan has made changes to her boring life, chucking her job to turn the San Francisco Victorian she inherited into a B&B.It's hard work and Sloan is barely eking by, but she's enjoying her new life nonetheless.

Even more dramatic changes are in store for Sloan when she agrees to take in Alicia's fiancé for a month while he finishes work on his latest novel.Carter Madison was best friends with Alicia's late husband, and he has decided to take responsibility for Alicia and her two young sons.He is thrown into turmoil upon his first meeting with Sloan, and feels a spark he's never felt with any woman, including Alicia--and it's a feeling Sloan reluctantly shares. While they cannot deny their attraction for each other, they both know that their relationship has no future.Carter has made a commitment to Alicia and the boys and can't destroy their lives in order to be with Sloan.

I had a number of problems with this story, including the following:
--There was a lot of cheating and betrayal of trust going on here.
--That said, Carter's act of self-sacrifice just seemed a bit much for me.I'm just not sure why Carter felt the need to step into his dead friend's shoes.Alicia was not hurting financially, so the whole setup seemed overly contrived to me.(But, once everyone made that commitment, they should have stuck to it.)
--I'm not sure I even liked any of the main characters.Sloan's constant self-effacement was annoying, Carter's moods were offputting, and Alicia was flighty and inconstant.

BREAKFAST IN BED was initially published in 1983 and, while it isn't an utterly terrible book, it hasn't held up well under the test of time. Its biggest sin is that it is ultimately boring. There are so many better books out there--including some by this author--that I'm not sure that it's worth the investment of readers' time and money except for fans of Sandra Brown interested in getting a taste of her early work.

(Note:Alicia's story can be found in SEND NO FLOWERS.)

3-0 out of 5 stars Her bestfriends fianceis hotandliving her under roof.
Breakfast in Bed is a quick afternoon read with some fun twist. This is a story about Sloan Fairchild an owner of a new B&B and Carter Madison a famous author who is spending a month in her B&B. The twist is the Carter and Sloan are attracted to each other but Carter is engaged to her Sloan's best friend. The heart of the book is that they both want to do the honorable thing. This wasn't my favorite book but the author did a great job with the sweet story.I would also suggest books by Kate Angell, Deirdre Martin and Kimberly Raye.

2-0 out of 5 stars Lame, Lame, Lame!
I really was not impressed by this one. I am a huge Brown fan, but what was she thinking?

The main heroine was boring and a little wierd if you ask me. The whole story was really annoying to me. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute story
Heaven's Price isa very funny love story.Of course, it has a predictable ending, as some reviewers have mentioned, but it's suppose to.It's a romantic comedy. It is really sweet and will keep you laughing if you have a sense of humor.

4-0 out of 5 stars Story is a quick read, however...
This story is a quick read. I started it noon on a Saturday and finished it Saturday night. I liked the romantic and career dilemmas of the novel but one thing irritated me. The characters fell into it sooooooo quickly. There was NO anticipation or strained anxious moments because they started off in the novel already pretty hot and heavy...even with only knowing each other and hour and some change. If you can get past that little point it's a funny mindless read for a nice afternoon on the deck or on the beach.

5-0 out of 5 stars Book summary
Loveswept #1. His strong, callused but gentle hands kneaded the muscles in her legs that had allowed her to dance like a vision before her injury. Blair Simpson had enclosed herself in the magnificent fortress of her dancing, and no man had ever breached the walls of her heart, but Sean Garrett was determined tolove her anyway. His touch ignited fireworks that lit up the heavens and shamed the star-streaked Long Island skies. Blair's body which had never betrayed her before, begged for Sean's tender but impassioned caresses. In his arms she came to understand the emotions behind her dancing. But could she afford the high price of love?

4-0 out of 5 stars A cute, highly romantic story
WOW - this book opens with a massage scene that is incredibly sensual and tantilizing, and the hot and steamy tone continues throughout. Sean is a bit too agressive and Blair is a bit too selfish, yet when they come together, they are a powerhouse who teach each other valuable lessons about life, values and priorities. A short and fast read, this book packs a lot of punch.

2-0 out of 5 stars Average!
This was a short story about seduction. I have nothing against seduction. I like it a lot. BUT, you have to care about the characters in order for the seduction to be touching and moving. Ms Brown writed excellent sex/love scenes, but needs to write a good story around them. Skip this book. There are many good books out there to read. Try Madeline Hunter, Mary Balough, Connie Brockway, Jo Beverley, to name a few, if you want good stories with moving intimacy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beauty Plus Revenge Equals a Heck of a Read
Nell Calder is plain and plump with a pretty daughter and a handsome financier husband. For some unknown reason she's the target of a drug cartel and during the attempt on her life at a party on a Greek island she's disfigured and her husband and daughter are killed.

Nicholas Tanek, enemy of her attackers, flies her to safety and has her transformed from the Ugly Duckling to the Beautiful Swan via plastic surgery. However beauty alone isn't enough of a reason for Nell to go on living, but Nick gives her another, Revenge.

I was up all night with this book. I loved the character of Nell and there was plenty of suspense. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible Book!
This has got to be my all-time favorite book. You get drawn into the story from the first chapter. The way the story builds is exciting. The characters are so detailed you can picture them easily. This book is what made me a Iris Johansen fan!

2-0 out of 5 stars Very confusing and complex, and hard to connect with characters
I liked the premise and characters of Johansen's Firestorm (Eve Duncan) better, but she took more time with relationship and character development in this one, which was good. Just felt more of a connection WITH the characters in Firestorm (Eve Duncan), but more of a connection BETWEEN the characters with this one. However, it was pretty confusing and complex at parts, and the ending was just too abrupt. I actually think I liked Firestorm (Eve Duncan) better, so try that one first.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad...just...Bad
This is the first book I read from this author. The begining of the story get's you turning page after page... up until the H/get's her new face, then all goes down hill. The chemistry between the H/H is nonexistant, the story draaaags, the Heroine is anoying and the things she does are not believable at all! by the end of the book I actually hated her.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value and great reading!
I love this author, and having two of her books for this price was terrific for taking them on my vacation! ... Read more
