5-0 out of 5 stars Finally
Finally I have the correct sheet music for some of greats from Miss Merchant.

The tabs out there on the internet are horribly wrong.

If you play piano or guitar and love 10,000 maniacs and Natalie Merchant's music, then buy it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Collection of Songs
This is a great collection of 10,000 Maniacs and solo songs. However, only contains one page of pictures and "notes" from Natalie. Definitely a collection of songs for the guitar/piano/vocalist. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Gorgeous
Wow, this album is so great and so is the sheet music for this album, very easy to play, mostly the same chords on each song, but thats all right....love it!5 stars.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent sheet music!
This sheet music book includes the songs of the first solo album of the great former lead voice of 10,000 Maniacs, Natalie Merchant. It features all the songs of the original album, arranged for piano/voice: St. AndreasFault, Wonder, Beloved Wife, River, Carnival, I may know the world, Theletter, Cowboy Romance, Jealousy, Where I go, Seven Years. The songs arenot very difficult to play, alone or in a band, but contains very peculiarharmonies and melodies, and sensitive lyrics that speak of everyday life'spains and joys. This is the work of a star that sings about the lives ofordinary people: a man who loses his wife, a girl who's been betrayed, andso on. The better song of the album, in my opinion, is Where I go, thatcontains some wonderful acustic guitar solos and soothing lyrics. The workis very fine, and the sheet music very enjoyable. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Natalie Merchant: Ophelia
I love this book. I just learned how to play guitar, and this book shows exactly what chords to use to make it sound the best. It includes all the songs on the CD except for "Effigy".

4-0 out of 5 stars Natalie Merchant Sheet Music
Overall the book itself is worth the price. However I'm not very fond of all of her songs. I was mainly looking for her song "Kind and Generous." If you really like her songs then I would suggest purchasing the book, however if you only like one then i would suggest looking for a site that has the music. ... Read more

Purchase includes a free trial membership in the publisher's book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: "Carnival" is a 1995 song written and produced by singer-songwriter Natalie Merchant and was the lead single from her debut solo album Tigerlily. The single was released to U.S. airwaves in the summer of 1995 and went straight to the number 10 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The single received a radio edit cutting the song down from the six-minute LP version. In the lyrics, the protagonist compares the many colorful sights and sounds of day-to-day life in New York City to a carnival. The video for the song, directed by Melodie McDaniel, shows scenes of Merchant walking the streets of New York City taking street photographs with a Leica M3. By her own request, this song was played at the funeral of convicted serial killer, Aileen Wuornos after her execution in 2002. The song was also used in Nick Broomfield's 2003 documentary "Aileen: Life And Death Of A Serial Killer", and the 2010 film "The Halves". 1. Carnival (Edit)2. Carnival (LP Version)3. Natalie Merchant was born October 26, 1963 in Jamestown, New York, the third of four children of Anthony and Ann Merchant. Her paternal grandfather, who played the accordion, mandolin and guitar, emigrated to the United States from Sicily; his surname was "Mercante" before it was Anglicized. Her maternal grandfather, a cartoonist, piano tuner and member of a barbershop quartet, was Irish. Her parents divorced when she was eight-years-old, and her mother later remarried. As a child, her mother listened to music (Beatles, Al Green, Aretha Franklin) and encouraged her children to study music, but she wouldn't allow TV after Natalie was 12. "I was taken to the symphony a lot because my mother loved classical music. But I was dragged to see Styx when I was 12. We had to drive 100 miles to Buffalo, New York. Someone threw up next to me and people were smoking pot. It was terrifying. I remember Styx had a white piano which rose out of the stage. It was awe-inspiring and inspirational." "She had show tunes, she had the soundtrack from West Side Story and South Pacific. And then eventually... she'd always liked classical music and then she married a jazz musician, so that's the kind of music I was into. I never really had friends who sat around and listened to the stereo and said 'hey, listen to this one', so I'd never even heard of who Bob Dylan was until I was 18." During 19881989, Natalie claimed she still didn't have a TV: "I grew up in a house where no one watched the news on television and no one read the paper. I've been discovering these things as ... Excerpt: Motherland is the third solo album by Natalie Merchant, released in 2001. The album is musically eclectic, varying from Middle Eastern violinreggae beat fusion "This House Is on Fire" to 10,000 Maniacs-sounding "Tell Yourself". Folky "Motherland" precedes stylistically Merchant's next album, The House Carpenter's Daughter. Originally, "The End" was supposed to appear on the album instead of "Not In This Life." Merchant noted that: I'd take out one song, 'Not in This Life,' she said, referring to a midtempo meditation on love, because it seems frivolous to me now. And I'd put back a song called 'The End,' which probably would have gotten me in trouble. Part of the lyric goes: 'That'll be the end of war/ the end of the law of Bible, of Koran, Torah.' I really wanted to put it on the record, but I felt there was so much serious material already that I chose something lighter, for balance. (NY Times, 7/7/02) The album is dedicated to the victims of September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks upon the United States. However, the recording was finished two days before the event, so the songs are not influenced by it. The event has still affected people's interpretations of the lyrics. Additionally, the cover was changed at the last minute to accommodate the post-9/11 world. Her original concept for the photograph on the album cover was a picture of children in a field wearing oxygen masks. We shot these kids in upstate New York on Sept 10, she recalled. And then we were going to reshoot on the 11th. Of course we canceled the session. The day I brought the pictures into the ...http://booksllc.net/?id=933247 ... Read more
