Wonderful Quite Time and Discipleship Resource
I just finished going through this book with a close friend, and it was a wonderful blessing, both personally and relationally.We each read one principle daily as a part of our quiet time, and then discussed ideas and impact informally through email, phone, and meetings.By doing it together, we were held accountable and had the blessing of additional insights!We were both blessed personally, and we grew closer together as we walked towards Jesus together... seeking and growing in wisdom.

Regarding the principles/chapters: they are a wonderful blend of principle, story, and wisdom from God's Word.The materialchallenges you to be transformed through lessons, questions, and discussion, but more importantly by pointing you to seek the Lord's will for you through reading, reflection, and prayer. Each principle's lesson is deep enough to foster growth, but short enough to not overwhelm or require a massive change of schedule.

I highly recommend this resource and will continue to give it as a gift, perhaps repeating the above process with others whom the Lord directs.

Wonderful Book on Wisdom
Wisdom Walks covers 40 ways readers can experience God in a fresh way through everyday circumstances. A Great Music-Centered Biography
I came to this book not expecting much.I was very pleasantly surprised.The book is well written and informative, especially about Jimmy Page's musical influences.It has helped me understand Led Zeppelin's music much better, while gaining an appreciation for Page as a person. The author did a great job, particularly given the lack of cooperation from Page himself.I really liked this book.

George Case tries, in the space of only 250 pages, to get inside the larger than life persona of Jimmy Page, and make it a three-dimensional portrait ("magus, musician, man") at that.Done without personal access to the man or his representatives, the result must be considered a failure.

Jimmy's bio is presented chronologically, mostly based on interviews or magazine articles from the now quite distant past.If one wants to read about the music scene in early-60's England, or life on the road with Zeppelin, you may as well read those articles yourself, or better yet read "Hammer of the Gods."There are more, and better stories most anywhere than this recycled work includes.It's very sketchy.Case is an amateur musician, I emphasize 'amateur,' and his commentary on much of the music is pretty lightweight as well.

Less, or worse, is yet to come, in that Case is also trying to address Page the person and 'the magus.'The person might be handled by discussion on musical control over the band, his various moves, his relationship with his families and children and ex-bandmates; there is no insight or discussion of motivations, or anything that goes on inside the head of Page (besides the swishing around of cocaine).As regards 'magus,' Case notes Page's interest in Crowley and the occult without ever mounting a serious inquiry into just what it was that Page was trying to accomplish, the role of yoga or meditation or ritual or anything else in bringing this off, or even whether Page considered this aspect of his life successful or rewarding (or even maintains an interest today).In other words, Case just doesn't know enough to venture an opinion.

The book is a very fast read; there's basically nothing to it but a bare-bones outline of Page's march through life.Just what makes him such an important figure at all is hardly even addressed.Maybe the most interesting part of the book is a segment where he actually discusses the guitarists of other, competing, bands, everyone from Ace Frehley to Eddie Van Halen to Angus Young.Save your money to buy "How the West Was Won" and you will see and hear for yourself what made Led Zeppelin the quintessential 70's band. ... Bad, but at least the author's recent history is interesting!
Yes, the book is not good--it's almost worth reading for the "Wow! Is this bad!" aspect alone, but the story of its author, Juliann (nee Juanita) White, is a very interesting and incredible one, and itself would make a good book: in 2003, after the book's publication, the author's mother, Ruby Dorman, disappeared from Las Vegas, as, afterwards, did the author herself, and White is now wanted for questioning in the disappearance of her mother.

White had become obsessed with the notion that Ruby Dorman--her own mother--was responsible for ordering Charles Manson & Co.'s murder of Juliann White's real-life aunt, Rosemary LaBianca, who was killed along with her husband Leno in 1969 by the Manson Clan.White was convinced of this in spite of there being absolutely no evidence that this might have been the case: there is no known link whatsoever between Ms. Dorman and Mr. Manson.

Las Vegas authorities feel the disappearance--and very possible murder--of White's mother was in retribution for the death of Rosemary LaBianca, and thus seek to question Juliann White. (The Las Vegas Sun account--still available on a Manson-related site--is well worth googling, as is the same city's Review-Journal article, and makes for much better reading than the book in question. The NAMP site also has an account of Ruby Dorman, missing person, on its April-June 2003 page.)

So, combine the wrongheaded, occult creepiness of believing your mom ordered Charles Manson to kill your aunt, with Page's one-time fascination with Aleister Crowley (Page purchased what had been Crowley's residence, the Boleskine House, in Scotland) and, as well, had been commissioned to write the score for Kenneth Anger's film 'Lucifer Rising,' for which he then failed to produce a sufficient amount of music and the commission was then given to early Manson devotee Bobby Beausoleil, who also had been set to star in the movie before his imprisonment for the Manson-ordered murder of Bobby Hinman, for which Beausoleil is serving a life sentence--and you have the beginnings of the subject material for a book far more interesting than this particular tome.

I was warned, but I was stupid and bought it anyway
I am the biggest Jimmy Page fan in the whole world, bar none, and thought that there was no way a book purporting to be about Jimmy could be THAT bad.Boy, was I wrong!This poor little author knows nothing about Jimmy Page other than things already published by real, knowledgeable authors.She evidently took this information, threw it into an iPod Shuffle for sentences and then had the result printed.It is also obvious that this book was not edited by anyone.Ever.This book is only for those interested in E-Network-type gossip (the names and birthdates of Jimmy's children and exes) and the author's personal opinions about Jimmy's physical appearance in the 1980s during his addiction to heroin.(She didn't care for the way he looked and continually bemoaned the fact that if he would have just eaten nutritious meals and quit chain-smoking he would have looked better.No, I am not making this up.)You can only be a fan of this book if you enjoy thesaurus-aided descriptions of Delta blues, British musicians and Robert Plant's hair.Also included are the author's reminiscences of her attendance at concerts by Deep Purple, her 6-week trip to England (which she hints gave her insight into the real Jimmy Page - I know, I'm rolling my eyes, too), the fact that while she didn't think Jimmy was pretty while on drugs, she herself is quite a looker (the words, "my pretty little face" are in there somewhere) and every comma ever misplaced by any author since the dawn of time.I bought it used and only paid a little over four bucks for it and wish I had used the money for an artery-clogging Big Mac instead.If you're a fan of Jimmy Page and his work, RUN from this horrible, horrible book! Jimmy, I'm sorry I bought it!Please forgive me!

At the risk of sounding too critical...
...I have to implore that fans of Jimmy Page, especially all you die-hard must-have collectors of Zeppelin/Page memorabilia like myself, avoid buying this book at any price! Juliann White's writing is so abysmal from start to finish, and the bewildering lack of editing so galling and obvious, that I actually felt embarrassed as I struggled to turn to another page of her subpar prose. One may feel the urge to add to their Page/Zeppelin collection like I mistakenly did, but cast that urge to the winds of doom and give this book no quarter.

Do not buy this book!!!
The author has written an extremely unreadable book.Save your money for anything written by Chris Welch or Ritchie Yorke.Way better read.This lady is not an author, just a fan with really bad vocabulary.DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!

This is a great book!!!
I have no idea what all these other people who reviewed this book are complaining about. I loved it! The subjects do get juggled around in a chapter a bit. But it's full of information about Jimmy I didn't know. It tells about Jimena, their three kids, and Jimmy's ex's. I have never read any of that anywhere else, and I have read every book that has come out about Jimmy Page. I would recommend this book highly to any Jimmy Page fan! I would never even think of throwing it out!! And shame on allyou people who only gave this book 1 star! You should be ashamed of yourselves! ... Read more

This book is THE go to book to learn about jimmy's mindset and his music. It is not about his lifestyle, but rather about his music and his inspirations. Definitely worth the price.

Jimmy Page: Tangents Within A Framework
The previous reviewer probably didn't understand the title, that's all. This book is fascinating! It's about the music of Jimmy Page...where he got his ideas from and how he put it all together. The book also lets the reader learn about the tangents he would go off on during concerts but he always kept it within the framework of the song he was playing. He and Led Zeppelin were best known for their improvisational skills on stage. This book tells it all and has a ton of great pictures in it!! Well worth the price of admission on this book!!

mind boggling
I grew up in the "Led Zeppelin Era" but never really cared for them. I never understood why they were so popular-until now. I had one of their albums (Houses of the Holy) but gave it away because I did not listen to it much.I never liked Plant's voice, or what I perceived to be their hippy/folksy/fantasy and often hard to understand lyrics. Although I liked Page's power chording, I thought a lot of the music meandered and became chaotic at times. It is also true that,I never was stoned or drunk while listening to them (or any other bands) so I will never be able to say I personally have experienced anything like the author claims---but I do know others who have sworn to it and thought they were exaggerating, maybe a little crazy.This book proves they were right.

I was completely amazed at what the lyrics and performances of this band wereteaching, and their involvement with the biggest psychopath of all time, Aleister Crowley. How a seemingly rational, intelligent and talented man like Page could get involved with this stuff is just mind boggling.The devil certainly has his ways. This book is too well documented to not believe it.

This book is hard to read-there is a wealth of information regarding the occult that is meticulously documented.The author backs up all his statements with numerous quotes and citations and pages of references.A lot of the occult info is so disgusting and disturbing that I had to stop reading several times to digest it.

I thank the Lord Jesus Christ that I never was caught up in any of this although I was such a big fan of that style of music and exposed to so much of it back in the day.I also thank Him that Jesus Christ led the author out of the abyss.I pray that one day the LZ band members will be also.I thank Tom Friend that he wrote this book.I am now aware that some of the other bands I liked from that era had similar leanings and imagry in their music.(Uriah Heep, Rainbow, certainly Black Sabbath etc.)It was not just "fantasy" or "horror movie" stuff.My complacency (and that of many, many others) have allowed this kind of thing to flourish.

It appears that much of the preaching I used to hear against much of rock music had more validity to it than I realized when I was young, to my shame.

Loved the book.Robert Plant says BURN at the end of Whole Lotta Love on The Song Remains the Same ALBUM (not video/dvd).Listen carefully when he sings "yoooohooooo needed..(drums)....luhhhhhhhhhhhoooooovve...push..push...BURN, BURN, BURN....alright...oooh yeah...shake for me girl...I will be your backdoor man...".

It's very subtle.The "burn, burn, burn" is hardly audible and inserted quickly after the second "push".It's definitely in there though.I say inserted because it's not in the video/dvd version of TSRTS.I first noticed it years ago while getting baked in a car with my buddies while Whole Lotta Love was jamming loudly.Check it out.

Fallen Angel
Was very happy with the shipping service as well as the product. For anyone interested in Christianity, the Occult, Mr. Crowley, and Led Zeppelin, this book is highly recommended. You can tell Thomas Friend has spent a long time on the Crowley research. Only halfway through, and I've learned more than I ever thought I would about him. Tha Christianity references are spot on too! I still love Led Zeppelin's music, but not the Crowley stuff. The author signed my copy also. My fave part is the font size that is used.Though I cannot read for long periods of time, the larger font makes it easier on the eyes. Good book that certainly holds your attention. Thomas, you did a very good job.

The Most Intense Book I Have Read In My Life!
The Fallen Angel: The Untold Story Of Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin is bar far one of the most intense Books I have read in my life. To many the resources and the assumptions made in this book will anger them. Because truly no hard-core Rock & Roll fan what's to even remotely think for a minute that their Rock Gods are Satanic. The Author Thomas W. Friend introduces Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page through a different view, a spiritual view, never before done in such accurate detail. Thomas introduces Jimmy Page's Occult influence not only affecting himself, but all of the band members of Led Zeppelin and all of the millions of fans. Thomas being one of these hard-core fans, much like myself clearly demonstrates the Occult influence of Led Zeppelin's messages through their music. Every single assumption made by the author is backed up by extensive research and religious comparisons between the Occult and Christianity. He includes quotes from band members, tour managers, band roadies, Occult authors including, Eliphas Levi, and Aleister Crowley, reporters, television/radio broadcasts, The Holy Bible, and countless other reputable resources. This Book is meant in my opinion, for people searching for the countless spiritual answers promoted to discover by Led Zeppelin's enchanting music. I myself, completely obsessed with the power and brilliance of guitarist Jimmy Page's talent, and well aware of his deep participation in the Occult and teachings of Aleister Crowley, began to go down that path. I said to myself "follow the Occult like Jimmy Page? Or should I follow Christianity?" That answer was made very clear to me once I truly understood what magic really was, and the spirits it involved. "Magic", "Witchcraft", "Sorcery", "Wizardry" all involve the same objectives, to control evil spirits. I realized all of this BEFORE I read The Fallen Angel, Thomas has just immensely fast tracked my Crowley, and Occult research, that I eventually would have learned, into a span of 3 months opposed to 30 years! Thomas compares everything I knew and more about Aleister Crowley, and The Occult, with Led Zeppelin's music and Occult symbolism, and other huge Rock stars, such as The Beatles, The Doors, and Ozzy Osbourne. Ask yourself this, doesn't Ozzy Osbourne make it just a little obvious that he hates Jesus Christ and Worships the devil? Massive Disappointment
Being a fan of Robert Plant for decades, I was anxiously awaiting his biography...I am still waiting.This book is poorly wriiten (using the same words and phrases over and over), poorly edited (loads of misspellings and typos), and just plaing boring.At least 25% of the book is the author's quoting of websites - it appears he did not actually speak to many if any actual people and prepared this book by scanning the web.Save your money and read other Led Zep books and you will get a more accurate and satisfying portrayal of RP.

A Big Disappointment
Fan's are better off reading other books on Led Zeppelin.This book doesn't present an objective character sketch of Plant.The author doesn't have any special insight into Plant or the Led Zeppelin mystique.He's not a gifted writer and it is a ponderous biography.

If the author had atleast done that, he'd have been able to write a much more interesting book. I think if you are write about contemporary legend, you need input from said legend.. or at least you need to have MET him or be familiar with his work.

Poorly Edited and Researched
The book is riddled with inaccuracies.

Consider these passages... Daniels goes through a sentence-long analysis of the tracks on Zeppelin's albums.For the first album, there is this gem:"Black Mountain Side is an accurate demonstration of Page's musical expertise rather than Plant's talent yet Plant is still in fine vocal shape."Umm... isn't the song an instrumental? Doesn't this sentence imply that Plant is singing this track?The roots of How Many More Times?Well, Daniels says that the lyrics contain references to "Howlin' Wolf's 'How Many More Tears."I always thought the song was How Many More Years.I understand the Y and T are next to each other, so let's chalk that one up to the editor.

How about Houses of the Holy... check this out:"Plant enjoys himself
on the last track 'No Quarter' and thus closes an imaginative and curious album."Perhaps Neil Daniels has obtained that rare copy of Houses of the Holy that is devoid of The Ocean?

Let's examine the acknowledgements.The author thanks Al Atkins (former lead singer of Judas Priest), Frankie Banali and Kevin DuBrow of Quiet Riot, Ernie Chataway of Judas Priest (whose sole contribution to the book seems to be telling the author that he doesn't like Plant and never did), John Ellis and Brian 'Bruno' Stapenhill (again, from Judas Priest), and... I think I'll stop there.

It really seems like the guy wrote a book on Judas Priest and then
discovered that some of the guys knew Plant, so then he figured maybe
he could write a book on Plant.He could use a lot of the same interviews (a fact he covers in the acknowledgements) and sell some
more books.Here's a quote:"In many ways, this book is a complementary companion piece to my first book - The Story of Judas Priest:Defenders of the Faith - because the earlier careers of both artists overlap in obvious ways:Robert Plant and Judas Priest came from the same area of England and both artists began gigging in the same era prior to finding success in the 1970s, onwards."

Yeah... because when I think of Judas Priest, I think of Robert Plant. Oh wait... no, no I don't.The book essentially begins with a
narration of the Soundstage performance available now on DVD of Plant
with Strange Sensation from September of 2005, and right away, Daniels
is quoting some guy I've never heard of - "perhaps the American melodic rock singer and Led Zeppelin fan Tony Harnell says it better..."WHO?!What the hell is this?! ... at least that's what I keep thinking while I'm reading this.

In addition, he refers to the "mammoth Achilles Last Stand" twice in three pages using the same adjective, but manages to say that Plant wrote the song at two different times, in two different places, with two different sets of inspiration in the same range of pages.Not sure you can do that without explaining yourself, and Daniels does not.

This book was a big disappointment for a big fan of Robert Plant.

This book is awful and truly a complete embarrassment.....it's as though the author did nothing but scan the web and other Zeppelin based books then summarized it to sell his "work"....

For starters, three paragraphs into the introduction, he talks about the passing of John Bonham which put an abrupt halt to Led Zeppelin...but HE GETS THE DATE OF BONZO's DEATH WRONG!!!!!!

He even got the date of the tragic passing of Robert's son Karac wrong- an easy editing fix which was missed...

Interesting and Informative Perspective on MMA and it's Fighters
The author does a real good job at giving you insight into his unique perspective on the UFC, MMA, and several of its fighters. He does this through insightful interviews and in-depth and revealing looks at some of the more common and also the most useful and effective techniques used in the cage. He does this not through the teaching of a particular technique like the left hook, a right cross, or even a high kick to the head, but through his narrative of actual fights were a particular technique was used with effective and often times devastating results.

And that barely begins to scratch the surface of what the author covers in this book. Of course I could spoil it for you and give you a really in-depth and detailed review of this book, but really what's the point. If you are a true MMA fan as I am, you will know that this is a must have book for you to read, and so is this book Ultimate Conversations: The Baddest Fighters on the Planet. I would also recommend the following books, if you haven't read them already.
