High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Dana Michelle Plato (November 7, 1964 - May 8, 1999)[2] was an American actress notable for playing the role of Kimberly Drummond in the U.S. television sitcom Diff'rent Strokes. Plato's career declined after her departure from the show, with appearances in low-budget films including softcore pornography. She had longstanding personal problems and committed suicide on May 8, 1999 by overdosing on prescription medication. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars I guess people will believe what they want to about a person
I have no strong opinions one way or the other about this book (which I haven't read) or about Dana Plato, but the claim that in 1977 "After extensive training, Dana won a spot on the US ice-skating Olympics team" is sheer nonsense. The Winter Olympics were held in 1976 and 1980--there WAS no "US Olympic ice skating team" for Plato to have earned a spot on in 1977, which is something anyone could have figured out with a little research. And she couldn't have meant 1976 either when she told that particular lie to Howard Stern, because the three members of the US Olympic team for ladies' singles that year were Dorothy Hamill, Linda Fratianne and Wendy Burge.

Dana Plato may well have had Olympic ambitions as a skater, but she was nowhere near achieving them at the time she cut back on whatever skating she was doing to take on TV stardom. It's a shame that it was probably part and parcel of her troubled life that she felt the need to embellish her accomplishments by telling people that she was accomplished enough at figure skating to have been chosen for an Olympic team, but turned it down in favor of an acting career. I guess most people would believe it without doing any research into the truth of the matter, and she was counting on them not knowing enough about skating to see on the face of it that it was a false claim. Oh well. I hope she is resting in peace now.

3-0 out of 5 stars It is what it is.
I bought this knowing completely what it was.It provides exactly what it says. Its emotional, difficult to digest at times, but it is what it is.History.The End of Dana Plato.

Some of the comments in here are pretty funny. He should be executed?Yeah, theres some moral high ground.Get a life.or a death.

3-0 out of 5 stars i'm not certain..
How I should review this. She seemed a parT of our family. She was a supporter of undergound cultUre. The package of the booK is either sensationalistic or a mockery of that sort of thing. I have heard Shane put her down, but I did not think that the interviewer of Shane(the author of this boOk)was able to or felt comfortable saying the positive's of this former skating champ and tv cutie who hosted the expo of the extreme highlighting alterNative truth not found elsewhere. Many peoplE rememberEd hEr wanting to be remembered as "a good mother", and that cries louder than the apparent premise of this book. She's not trash as I believe that Shane Bugbee oNCe sAid, but he was angry and he tried to paint an alternative view also. I did not recieve a lot for my money, but I've yet to look at this thoroughly. I liked "Cooking With A Serial Killer" by Shane as it showed a side of Dorthea Puente that was not seen by others. The struggles that is, of the life of Dorthea and her story of how she was shaped. Yes there is a life in serial killers that's shaped. At other times, like on his radio shoW, he's too hard, like with his brother: Expecting him to "get it together" in a short period of time with a family as if he should judt move out of hiS parents house with a wife and baby before he's secUre in all their futures! His cover of the tragedy of Mike Diana and his interview with Process membEr Timothy Wylie is rare and show's the beauty of this organization. Love..PeACE..bUY THIS IF YOU WANT TO HEAR dANA'S LAST BREATH AS A SORT OF SICK MEMORIAL LIKE THE cATHOLiC cHURCH DOES WITH RELICS. i KNOW THAT mY distant relative whom I never knew RELATIVE WHO (Darlene Ferrin, Zodiac KiLler victim.)WAS THe VICTIM OF A SERIAL MURDERER STILL COMMANDS MY COLLECTING OF RELICS..Sorry about caps locks. Not intentional..

1-0 out of 5 stars NO SEWER IS TOO DEEP FOR THIS BOOK!
It is very unfortunate that "Diff'rent Strokes" star Dana Plato is no longer with us. She had so much talent and beauty, and was always able to light up the TV screen with her lovely presence. I hope one day there will be an insightful and informative biography published about Dana because she really deserves it. But, in the meantime if you want to pay tribute to her please STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOK. Because she is MUCH BETTER than the garbage populated in this shameful excuse of a book, "Dana Plato's Last Breath."

Dana's Career Milestones & Highlights
1965-1976 - Dana appeared in more than 100 commercials
1975 - At the age of 11 made her theatrical debut in the film "Beyond the Bermuda Triangle"
1977 - Won a role in "Exorcist 2"
1977 - After extensive training, Dana won a spot on the US ice-skating Olympics team
1977 - Appeared on "The Gong Show" as a dancer
1978 - Turned down the lead role in "Pretty Baby"
1978-1984 - Stared in the top-10, critically-acclaimed series "Diff'rent Strokes"
1979 - Appeared in the pilot episode of "The Facts of Life"
1980 - Dana was the highest paid child star on broadcast TV, making more than $100,000.00 per episode
1983 - Stared in the movie "High School U.S.A."
1984-1989 - Dana guest-stared on a variety of sitcoms in the '80s including "The Love Boat" and "Growing Pains"
1985-1986 - Made a big splash as a special guest-star on "Diff'rent Strokes" once it moved to the ABC network
1989 - Stared in the feature film "Prime Suspect"
1990-1999 - Dana appeared on a variety of talk shows and newscasts as an unpaid public advocate and proponent of drug and alcohol awareness
2005 - VH1 named Dana "one of the greatest child stars of all time"

I purchased this book because I wanted to read about one of my favorite TV stars, Dana Plato. When the book arrived, I immediately knew that this was not a tribute book to the fascinating and graceful, Dana. Instead, this is a disgusting tabloid-style booklet that was written in such an ugly light. The irresponsible author even had the audaciousness to publish phony nude pictures of Dana from the Internet. This book is very disturbing, and should not have been published. NO SEWER IS TOO DEEP FOR THIS BOOK!

5-0 out of 5 stars Trash, Tragedy, Truth
I agree. This book is, indeed, trash. No doubt about it. In addition, it is tragic that this book ever had to be published. Who on Earth would want to be remembered by their last breath recorded on a cheap cd? But when it all comes down to it, this is the TRUTH about Dana Plato. It may not be the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, but this is a glimpse into the intense side of a woman who truly lived on the edge ... and unfortunately died there, too. Dana, if only this book had come out before it was too late perhaps we could have done something to change its ending. You are greatly missed. ... Read more
