5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have For The George Reeves Collector
I must agree with the other reviewers who posted on this fabulous collector's item.Jan Alan Henderson and Steve Randisi have done an amazing job of cataloging all of the films made by George Reeves. They have provided a chronological listing of each movie, short, and government war films in which this actor appeared.

This compilation is the result of five years of extensive and painstaking research and accumulation of rare films and photos for this actor.Admittedly, I had no idea that he had done sixty films throughout his career in addition to "The Adventures of Superman" television series! If you can obtain some of them listed in the book, then you will see the range of George Reeves' acting ability and the diverse roles he had.

The book provides not only a synopsis of each film, but also lists the rest of the cast, producer, director and even the studio where each film was made. One begins to realize how well-connected George Reeves had been with so many other Hollywood stars throughout his career in film and at the Pasadena Community Theatre, later the Pasadena Playhouse.

5-0 out of 5 stars Co-stars & Wrestling!
I really enjoyed this book on many levels. I NEVER had any idea how many BIG stars Reeves co-starred with! Cagney, Wisemuller, Sanatra, Cliff, Gable, Regan, Lake, the list goes on. It also provides hard photographic evidence that the movie "Hollywoodland" was WRONG about George not being able to wrestle by showing Reeves doing it at a fair with Jean LaBelle (Mr.Kryptonite).
I myself was a "Indy" wrestler briefly (I had just enough of a taste to be really disapointed) and ALWAYS admired Reeves for his athletic prowess as well as his acting skill. This book shows both.
Oh yes, the painting on the back of the Jacket is Awesome as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars 'Wonderful Book On Movie Great George Reeves'
"Behind The Crimson Cape: The Cinema Of George Reeves" by authors Jan Alan Henderson and Steve Randisi is a magnificent film book on the motion picture career of George Reeves, best known for playing the title role in the famed television series 'The Adventures Of Superman' (1951 - 1957).

"Behind The Crimson Cape" is a handsome, hardbound, 337 page volume that documents the entire film career of George Reeves, film by film in chronological order, covering no less than 58 feature length films and 12 short subjects. It also contains hundreds of rare photographs from his many films. Authors Henderson and Randisi did extensive research, and uncovered several previously unknown George Reeves film appearances. They even included for complete thoroughness several U.S. Army training films that Reeves made while serving in World War Two!

Every single film credit contains a plot narrative, detailed movie credits, and a great deal of intriguing film history regarding George Reeves and his co-players.Movie fans, film buffs and historians will be delighted to discover that "Behind The Crimson Cape: The Cinema Of George Reeves" was written by Jan Alan Henderson and Steve Randisi in the format of the old Citadel 'Films Of ....' series, and will therefore become a priceless addition to their movie book libraries.

Even though George Reeves died suddenly and violently in 1959 at the still young age of 45, authors Jan Alan Henderson and Steve Randisi remind us that he was an incredibly gifted, multi-talented actor who displayed genuine star charisma.

There is a poignant epilogue to this book where the authors inform us that this volume was for readers to find the real legacy of George Reeves, his gallery of performances and body of work on motion-picture film. They write that many people have tried to investigate the death of George Reeves, 'but after four and a half decades decades, no one has solved the crime! No one has come close.'For once, the authors are wrong.

There is one literary book that does solve the case on the mysterious death of George Reeves, or at least comes close enough so that the discerning reader can judge for him or herself. That book is 'Speeding Bullet' published in 1999, and written by Jan Alan Henderson!

The George Reeves Site (American Bottom Archaeology: Fai-270 Site Reports, Vol 15) by Dale L. McElrath was an excellent resource during the field school I attended at this site (July 2003). It covered every type of feature we found, almost every artifact as well as expansive map coverage including the area of the site we were excavating, though it had not been excavated before. I would buy it again if I didn't already have a copy! ... Read more

Product Description

The campaign promises are about to become your reality:

"Raise the bar of standards. Give schools the flexibility to meet them. Measure progress. Insist on results. Blow the whistle on failure. Provide parents with options to increase their influence. And don't leave any child behind."
George W. Bush, Little Rock, AR March 24, 2000

"We will ask that every state have a real accountability system, meaning that they test every child, every year, in grades three through eight, on the basics of reading and math...and have clear consequences for success and failure."

"As president, I want to fan the spark of charter schools into a flame."
George W. Bush, October 5, 1999

"We will spend more on education and reading -- and will expect more in return."
George W. Bush, October 23, 2000

Accountability. Standards. Choice. Readiness. You've heard the buzzwords of school reform. You've heard the campaign promises. Now, as these policies are being put into action with the new administration, it's time to ask:

How will these changes affect you?

* What impact will annual testing have on your child?
* How will federal funding reforms affect your child's school?
* How should you interpret the "school report cards" that rate schools based on test scores?
* How will you know which options are right for your child?
* How will gifted children and students with learning disabilities be affected?

In clear, jargon-free language, Dr. Douglas Reeves explains the Bush policies for school reform, predicts how these new programs will change our schools, and helps parents understand their options. Throughout this practical guide, profiles of "Innovators to Watch" illustrate how early tests of these policies have played out in schools across the country. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Made me think
This book is published by Kaplan (a test prep company) so it obviously presents testing in a very favorable light. While I disagreed with a lot of what was in the book, it did make me think. The book makes the great arguement that while test may be very subjective and test scores may be used improperly, testing is probably the best way to make sure our children are learning what we want them to learn. The author clearly points out that testing is by no means perfect, but then poses the question what would a better alternative be. This book while being biased is at least thought provoking.

1-0 out of 5 stars A student with learning disabilities was affected
This book presents a rose colored perspective on the Bush adminstration's educational proposals--which in reality are far from ideal. Based on previous state-level experience, they will be a disaster if implemented at the federal level.

Both throughout my public schooling and undergraduate education, I was required to take Texas's academic programs, supposedly designed to measure minimum academic skills, but impossibly configured to assess the information learned by special education students. This policy contradiction was certainly noticed by state educators and bureaucrats, but oddly enough--real solutions to narrow the gap between established standards and student performance were never implemented.

Unlike my former Colorado school, special education students in Texas, irrespective of severity of disability were confined to a separate classroom with an overworked teacher who did not teach grade and ability appropriate curriculum, but just taught whatever was easiest for their own needs. Thus, disabled students would naturally operate at an educational level far bellow their mainstreamed peers whether this performance was in a "poor" or "rich" district.

During college, I was subjected to the whims of administrators who selectively ignored portions of federal law requiring the use of assistive technology on standardized tests for qualifying students. Although I was eventually able to graduate, I also became intimately familiar with the presence of bias in late 20th century higher education.

My experiences were not isolated, but a microcosm example of what in fact happened in Shrub's home state, ironically under the guise of "educational standards" and "educational reform".

Fortunate enough to be blessed with progressive parents who realized the proposals, then programs were actually code for dismantling civil rights gains, I know there are other parents and students who continue to remain unaware of the "real" costs of Bush's education program. They are a covert way of allowing the state to punish disabled students for both their disability and the subsequent magnification by unequal school funding and antiquated educational instructional policies.

It is politically easier to point fingers at children, blaming them for their own lot in life than to take a critical and comprehensive examination of flaws in the current educational delivery system

Given that during the presidential campaign, the Bush camp did not have much to say about disability rights and access; I have no illusions about his handler's intent to declare war on the progress wrought since the 1975 federal passage of laws guaranteeing equal educational opportunities to disabled students. Even if such attacks are camouflaged in talks of "standards" and "achievement" they ultimately create a climate where it is acceptable to attack "different students".

If their policies are not firmly held in check and opposed, the nation will travel back in time to an era where discrimination kept all of the country from reaching it's full potential.

5-0 out of 5 stars Donald R. Thompson, Ph.D. Supt.Montgomery Co.
Anyone who is interested in education should read this book-especially parents.Crusade in the Classroom is right on target in describing what could happen and probably what will happen with regard to educational reform over the next four years.

Dr. Reeves separates the education wheat from the established shaft. He interweaves the themes of accountability, testing, standards and choice into a cohesive, interrelated, understandable education public policy approach. The meaningful hot topics in education are dealt with in a concise, clear manner in summary fashion-the best Primer on the market.Dr. Reeves' comments and analysis are backed up by valid research and his experience in the standards movement throughout the country.

5-0 out of 5 stars Marsha L. Jones, Ed.D. , Asst. Supt.,Curriculum & Instruct
Dr. Reeves has provided an excellent guide for parents by clarifying the significant issues surrounding standards, accountability, testing and choice. These four cornerstone pieces to George W. Bush's plan rise above the politics of the day and speak directly to the improvement of education. This book is a "must read" for parents to be more proactive in ensuring excellence in their child's education.

5-0 out of 5 stars Karen Young, President of Learning 27/7 and NSCI
Dr. Reeves has long provided educators a clear view of standards, assessment and accountability."Crusade" takes this information right into the home, with a laser like focus on the issues most important to parents who want to prepare their children for success in the 21st Century.A must read for every parent that wants their best opportunities for their child. ... Product Description
On June 16, 1959, when Jean Cline was 13 years old, the spirit of George Reeves came to her. At least that’s what she told a highly skeptical psychotherapist, Gary Duncan, when she first came to his office in the spring of 1996. Gary, who at the time was a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor holding a degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling, initially concluded that the woman before him was perhaps delusional, if not outright psychotic. He would spend the next several months trying to unravel what he perceived to be Jean’s delusional system in a compassionate attempt to help her.But something peculiar happened. The more Gary tried to unravel Jean’s delusions, the more his own hypotheses unraveled; the more he attempted to explain her case using traditional clinical approaches, the more inexplicable it became. At times, Gary even doubted his own senses. Was that George’s voice he heard? Did that glow around Jean really take on the image and likeness of George Reeves—the late TV Superman actor whom Gary once despised? In an ultimate ploy to unravel Jean’s delusions, Gary indulged her on a trip to the Super Museum in Metropolis, IL. By the end of that trip, Jean had left yet another professional baffled and stunned. In an effort to make sense of what he was witnessing, Gary gave Jean a series of psychological tests, which she took on two separate occasions—once as herself, and once as George Reeves. Dr. George Lester, an independent psychologist not otherwise connected with this case, evaluated the test results. Dr. Lester verified that each of the MMPI and NEO PI-R profiles were valid, which meant Jean and George answered the questions truthfully. What was most surprising, however, was that two distinct psychological profiles emerged.Whether George is the personification of Jean’s higher power, an alter personality, or a soul awaiting completion with its feminine counterpart, one thing’s for certain: George is real.Travel with Jean and Gary through their initial encounter, past-life regressions, psychic experiments, and clinical testing as they tell the story of how a highly educated and well respected psychotherapist ran out of clinical explanations and eventually came to believe that George Reeves and Jean Cline are Twin Souls Merging. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Delivers what it promises
I read the back cover the cracked open the book. I could not stop reading it. Everything discussed on the back cover is more clearly explained inside and I have expanded my knowledge on the topic of Twin Souls as a result.

To the reviewer who said "clearly a case of astral possession," I disagree, but even so . . . So what? That, too, would be an interesting read, no? I don't think that reviewer read the entire book because the clinical counselor involved did consider this possibility and his reasons for deciding it was a case of twin souls merging are clearly outlined in the last few chapters.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a must read!
I loved this book!I couldn't put it down once I started reading it.I thought the whole subject matter of souls from two different people to be twin souls that are actually merging, to be an incredible read.It seems the author did everything professionally and personally to prove or disprove this case.I was very impressed with his qualifications and to the extent of his research and knowledge on the subject matter. I, as a reader, am thankful that this case history has been shared with the world to read!

(REAL NAME)
I have read virtually ALL books pertaining to the Twin Soul/Flame concept ( at least on AMAZON!)..However, I have never read one that has brought me less joy than this particular book.
I do NOT think this is a Twin Soul reconnection it has all the signs of ASTRAL POSSESSION.
Jean Cline has alas, become more masculine!
The whole idea of Twins merging is for BOTH polarities to be in BALANCE,to become a WHOLE.
In this case I see the masculine as the dominant polarity as the feminine dissipates into God knows where.

If i was Jean I'd be very worried about my state of being.
I am truly surprized that Gary W. Duncan MS. MA. wasn't able to recognize the fact that this is clearly a case of astral possession.
I was very dissappointed in the book..perhaps you won't be. ... Read more

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Clark Joseph Kent (middle name is also Jerome according to some versions) is a fictional character created by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel. He serves as the civilian and secret identity of the superhero Superman. Over the decades there has been considerable debate as to which personality the character identifies with most. From his first introduction in 1938 to the mid-1980s, "Clark Kent" was seen mostly as a disguise for Superman, enabling him to mix with ordinary people. This was the view in most comics and other media such as TV (starring George Reeves) and radio. In 1986, during John Byrne's revamping of the character, the emphasis was on Superman being the alter-ego of Clark Kent, the side of the character he most identifies with. Different takes persist in the present. ... Read more
