Product Description
This book by and about the sculptor and pioneer land artist Richard Long explores his work from the 1990s to the present day.

Long's ability to make works of physical and intellectual beauty in both outdoor and indoor spaces is unrivaled, and the journey covered here takes the reader around the world: to the Sahara Desert and down the Rio Grande, from coast to coast in Ireland and Spain, to Tierra del Fuego and Mongolia, and to the forests of Honshu in Japan.

Some of the artist's sculptures were made during his walks through the world's landscapes, while others bring the materials of nature—stones, boulders, driftwood, clay, and mud—into museums, galleries, houses, and gardens. These works feed the senses, whereas the texts and photographs recording the artist's walks feed the imagination.

Majestic museum pieces made from tons of rock are juxtaposed with dramatic mud works and photographs recording ephemeral sculptures often made in the remote wilderness. Most of the photographs were taken by the artist himself, and the book also includes his notes and writings.

If walking has become Long's trademark, the path is perhaps the central image or archetype in his work. The idea of the path or way has meaning in all cultures—from the most material to the most spiritual. It is both real and symbolic, whether it is a life, a road, or the Taoist "Great Way." With his walks, Richard Long weaves a line through many traditions, creating an art that is both timeless and universal. 248 illustrations in color and duotone. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I have been looking for this book for months. It's out of print and couldn't buy it because I couldn't remember the author's name and there were many books withthe same title, but no description of the plot. So here goes some help. It is the story of Marla Crandall and Eric Westbrook. They team up to separate two lovebirds who happen to be her mother and his younger brother. What they don't know it's that they are going to fall for each other....Very good storyline and characters development for a romance novel. No inconsistencies at all (which I don't stand) ... Product Description
America, 1976. It's the last day of school in a small Texas town; the eighth-graders are getting their first taste of adolescence-a glimpse at high school. Frisbees hang in the air above Led Zeppelin music; the boys in their iron-on transfer T-shirts pop beers, while the teenage Cher clones strap on their cork wedgies and flirt.

It's a moment frozen in time, a shift from one era to another. It is dazed and confused.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Own For Any Dazed and Confused Fan
While NOT WORTH buying new for it's insane price, finding a used copy is not that hard to find, and it is worth it.

Dazed and Confused is one of my favorite movies, and this book was awesome, even better than the great booklet that came with the only copy of Dazed and Confused worth owning, Dazed & Confused - Criterion Collection(DO NOT BUY THE _______ FLASHBACK EDITION.I cannot stress that enough). If you loved Dazed and Confused and couldn't get enough of it's 70's setting, it's characters, or just want to know more about the environment where Slater, Pink, Dawson, this book is for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Three viewings of "Dazed and Confused" not enough? This book is for you!
Anyone born between 1955 and 1970 HAS GOT TO SEE Dazed and Confused.

And this book adds to the fun.Plenty of real live Mad Magazine stuff, real live ads from the time period, with a bunch of side splittingly funny made up stuff based on the characters from DAC.Enjoyed the heck out of this book.Just wish it was longer so my trip through memory lane could go on another hour or so.

Great stuff!Where's Wooderson today, by the way?

5-0 out of 5 stars JUST AWESOME - I LOVE THIS BOOK!
It was in a fit of Dazed And Confused mania that I purchased Richard Linklater's tie-in book to his cult classic 70s adolescence movie several years ago. At the time I basically flipped through the book and then put it aside. Until earlier today when I was going through a stack of old college texts I was planning on getting rid of and wonder of wonders came across this one mixed in among them for some reason. So I decided to take a refresher course in 70s stoner adolescence and then offer up my take on it.

What I especially liked about Dazed And Confused the movie was the way Linklater managed to sneak in some profound truths about life amidst the nostalgia. In the book, the most profound and honest part is Linklater's introduction where he writes: "Let's face it, no matter where you live no matter at what time high school is a light prison sentence to be served. Once paroled, you don't look back".

From that point on, any social observation basically goes out the window as we are treated to a crash course in all things 70s as well as stuff related to the movie itself. All of the major characters are profiled and there are excerpts of a yearbook page from the high school they attend. Although it might seem redundant to most people, die hard fans of the film should enjoy it. Pick up a copy! Also recommended -------> The Losers Club by Richard Perez, an offbeat small press novel that you will truly dig. Like far out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nothing Confusing Here: Fun Book
Dazed & Confused is a classic movie about the day in the life of high schoolers in a small Texas town on last day of school in 1976.This book that is a companion to the movie is just like the movie itself: funny. Designed as part high school yearbook, part 70's era teen magazine, it is a nostalgia filled, quick and enjoyable read. There are tons of pictures (the yearbook pictures of the cast are great) and everyone of the major cast member contributes an "article" to the book.If you are a fan of the movie, then this book is a must for your collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book is Extension of Great Movie
ATENTION ALL D&C FANS:IF YOU DO NOT GO OUT AND GET THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW, YOU WILL NEVER KNOW THE WHOLE STORY! This book has everything, from Clint's favorite colored muscle T-shirt to Benny's beer limit. It isdefinantly a must for not only Dazed fans, but to any fans of theseventies! ... Read more

Product Description
What skills and competencies are needed in today's workplaces and other social environments, and how can they best be studied and promoted? The answers to these and other related questions lie in a variety of disciplines, and this multidisciplinary study under the auspices of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), carried out by the Swiss Federal Statistical Office and the Education Statistics Services of the American Institutes of Research, provides a theoretical and conceptual basis for the mass of empirical findings that are currently being generated. This volume brings together contributions from international authorities, providing a comprehensive overview of advances and conceptions of life skills and key competencies from a variety of perspectives: historical, philosophical, psychological, sociological, economic and anthropological. Other chapters synthesize these views, looking at common ground with regard to functioning in groups, epistemology, and policy and practice in the real world. The final chapter presents a coherent framework which can be used in further work. ... Read more

Product Description
Here I was, just an ordinary firefighter going on over 20 years of service and had witnessed so much tragedy.Especially after 9/11 I started to question my mortality, and my spirituality. I wanted to know what was out there beyond.Part One begins with Rich's journey to The Monroe Institute in Virginia. How he not only opens up his mind, but his heart chakra is thrown wide open. The journeys that he embarks on into the astral realm, and shares with others. Part Two of the story begins as Dee becomes a more integral part of Rich's journeys, his life, and his adventures with angels. After attending a spiritualist church, I started to go to the services there. It was there that I met Dee who was on their board, and was also a demonstrating medium for the church. My whole world started to shift after attending the Gateway program at the Monroe Institute in Virginia. Before attending this program I had trouble accessing my inner consciousness, but after, wow!! Needless to say my consciousness was blown wide open and I was able to access worlds before unknown to me.I started to journey to these astral realms and share my stories with some friends and people from our church. This is where Dee comes in, and our spiritual adventure begins. Also our story of love, not only in the physical sense but in the spiritual, with the help of a group of Angels, Arch Angel Michael, Metatron, Yeshua, Arch Angel Raphael, our beloved Earth Mother Amah, some Star Beings, Light Beings, and of course GOD our Father/Mother.We are able to accomplish so many things, visit many past lives, assist in Dee's healing, but the ultimate is the two of us becoming "One".One heart, one soul, being two as one known as "Twin Flames". Knowing this is the way it is supposed to be for all, for everyone and will be again someday. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Talking with Angels
Talking with Angels is a personal account of a former hardened sceptic's experiences during and after his visit to the Monroe Institute in Virginia. This has to be one of the most thrilling and fascinating books on the subject of higher realms that I have ever encountered. There is far more going on around us than we can ever imagine. I heartily recommend Talking with Angels. It moved me, in some instances, to tears.

4-0 out of 5 stars Enthralling Memoir of Spiritual Exploration
As someone who works in the writing and publishing industry, I am asked to read dozens of books every month.More often than not, I can find some aspect of the book about which I am able to share some positive feedback. After all, these published manuscripts are the very personal creations of their authors and therefore offer unique connections to the human condition.I enjoy the opportunity I have in my field to discover the many different ways in which people express their emotions through the written word. However, it is unusual for a book to reach my desk at just the right moment in my life that its impact on me is greater than simply an appreciation for good literature. The new release Talking with Angels by Richard and Denise Tuminello is one such book.Recent events in my life have made me more open to new ideas, and Talking with Angels certainly is a work that has introduced me to concepts and practices that were wholly unfamiliar to me before.

This husband and wife team of writers offers up what is essentially their personal journal of spiritual discovery over the last several years. It begins with Rich detailing his first experience at The Monroe Institute in the beautiful mountains of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. This learning facility was created to promote the expansion of the human consciousness and the exploration of existence beyond the physical realm.Rich shares his impressions of the physical environment that surrounded him, an overview of what students at the Institute can expect on their first visit, and how his life was transformed by his time studying there.

The second part of the book focuses on the chronological retelling of experiences that Rich and Denise have had in their sessions with Angels and other Star Beings. When readers encounter these entries, each of which is dated just as one would expect in a journal, they will feel as if they are being allowed into private, emotional moments.Rich and Denise even engage in a written dialogue with one another in many of the entries, comparing their experiences during sessions with the Angels.By exposing their raw emotions and the undeniable effect that opening up to this non-physical world has on them, the authors create a connection with each reader.I certainly could sense the joy and the fullness of life practically leaping from the page.

If presented with this book six months ago, I would have given it a skeptical glance and quickly dismissed any possibility that the material could have intelligent substance.Discussions about visiting a Café in the Astral Realm and the merging of souls is not comfortable territory for someone who has enjoyed the tangible, verifiable aspects of the physical world in which we live. However, the quality of the writing struck me right away and provoked a willingness to give the actual content a chance.Once I removed my existing hesitations, I allowed myself to develop an emotional connection while reading interesting, heartfelt material. While I still may not be able to relate to all of the ways in which Denise and Rich expanded their consciousness, the book Talking with Angels did expose me to new possibilities in communication and create a desire in me to learn more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lippincott at its best!
Love the book. I am a visual learner and the colorful pictures and diagrams help me tremendously.

5-0 out of 5 stars Speedy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Premedical Text
Astounding text. Great graphics. For someone who does not particularly enjoy chemistry, this is your text. Everything is broken down. Supplemental online questions are good. The questions posit real world medical scenarios. Feels very applicable. This is a required course for my premed tract. Best chemistry/biology text I've ever read.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but could be better
I started using this book to prepare for Step 1 of the boards, but I didn't care for it. I found all the colors too distracting and didn't find the explanations terribly helpful either. The one time I learned biochemistry best was using Mark's Basic Medical Biochemistry a Clinical Approach Second Edition. I found that book to be much better at simplifying and explaining the pathways with better figures. I mostly used Mark's and Biochemistry from Kaplan. ... Read more

Excerpt: Madonna (born Madonna Louise Ciccone; August 16, 1958) is an American recording artist, actress and entrepreneur. Born in Bay City, Michigan, and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan, she moved to New York City in 1977, for a career in modern dance. After performing as a member of the pop groups Breakfast Club and Emmy, she released her debut album, Madonna, in 1983 on Sire Records. A series of hit singles from her next studio albums, Like a Virgin (1984) and True Blue (1986), established her as a pop icon. She pushed the boundaries of lyrical content in mainstream popular music and imagery in her music videos, which became a fixture on MTV. Her recognition was further raised by the film Desperately Seeking Susan (1985) which was widely seen as a Madonna vehicle despite her not playing the lead. Utilizing religious imagery in her fourth studio album Like a Prayer (1989), Madonna was praised by critics for her diverse musical productions while at the same time religious conservatives and the Vatican criticized her. In 1992, Madonna founded the Maverick corporation as a joint venture with Time Warner. The same year, she incorporated sexually explicit material in her work, with the studio album Erotica, the coffee table book Sex and the erotic thriller film Body of Evidence, all of which received ...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=142056 ...
