4-0 out of 5 stars Everything You'd Expect
Sometimes something doesn't need to blow you away or break tons of new artistic ground to be good. Sometimes all you want is something to meet up with what you wanted out of it. And that is exactly what you get out of Danger Girl: The Ultimate Collection; if what you want is a action movie plot with over the top scenes and every excuse possible used to show scantily clad female superspies.

That is what I wanted out of the collection and thus I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, I even go back and re-read it from time to time.

However, if that doesn't sound too appealling to you, it would probably be wiser to stay away.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hard Bodies Hard Cover
This hard cover version of Danger Girl is the one to get, complete with the Campbell issues and lots of extras. If you like good-girl comics then Danger Girl was made for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars exactly what you think you're getting
It is exactly what it says on the tin. It's a campy, silly, fun adventure, beautifully drawn and well written for what it is.

If you're looking for Proust, you know where to find it.

Oh, but skip the sequels, they don't have the same verve, they're trying too hard, and are drawn very differently (by other artists?).

4-0 out of 5 stars campy fun
I got this for my fiance--she had a few of the original issues and wanted the whole set. It's a lot of fun if you don't mind the almost idiotic amount of scenes stolen directly from movies and other comics. Nothing original (except maybe in it's frenetic rush to cram every James Bond and Indiana Jones and Captain America story ever all together at once) but it certainly is entertaining. Note: Not recommended for guys with jealous girlfriends (lots of gratuitous eye candy in this thing).

5-0 out of 5 stars Danger! Explosive fun ahead!
The attitude, dialog, and art in this series truly wins me over in a way that no other graphic novel has.I'll admit to not at all being a comic book junkie, but I do have a collection of close to fifty.I've never read a comic that sucked me in as fast as this one does. The vibrant coloring, extremely cliche and lame one-liners, and incredibly gorgeous women make this a very fun, very enjoyable read for any kid over 13.

I'd definitely rate the content of this book a PG-13 though, because there are a LOT of shots which show off 98% of the girl's bodies.Truth be told, those shots weren't really necessary for me because I enjoyed it for the action and humor, but I suppose there had to be a draw for the average, acne-ridden, comic book reading teenager that they wouldn't get from other comic books. And Abbey and the girls definitely do not disappoint in this area.

As a fan of a like-minded TV show called She Spies, I love this comic and would recommend it to anyone I know to be a fan of light fun reading. The action and humor is none-stop in this book. The only thing I didn't really like was the sub-plot involving "mysterious" male character "Zero".He really WAS a "zero" in my book as I couldn't bring myself to give a crap about him.

Anyway, if you ask me, this series is begging to be turned into a summer blockbuster film.

To me, this graphic novel perfectly embodies what comics are meant to do.It pulls the viewer into a whole other world for the span of about an hour.

Product Description

On February 15, 2003, a group of thieves broke into an allegedly airtight vault in the international diamond capital of Antwerp, Belgium and made off with over $108 million dollars worth of diamonds and other valuables. They did so without tripping an alarm or injuring a single guard in the process.

Although the crime was perfect, the getaway was not. The police zeroed in on a band of professional thieves fronted by Leonardo Notarbartolo, a dapper Italian who had rented an office in the Diamond Center and clandestinely cased its vault for over two years.  The “who” of the crime had been answered, but the “how” remained largely a mystery.

Enter Scott Andrew Selby, a Harvard Law grad and diamond expert, and Greg Campbell, author of Blood Diamonds, who undertook a global goose chase to uncover the true story behind the daring heist. Tracking the threads of the story throughout Europe—from Belgium to Italy, in seedy cafés and sleek diamond offices—the authors sorted through an array of conflicting details, divergent opinions and incongruous theories to put together the puzzle of what actually happened that Valentine’s Day weekend.

This real-life Ocean’s Eleven—a combination of diamond history, journalistic reportage, and riveting true-crime story—provides a thrilling in-depth study detailing the better-than-fiction heist of the century.

3-0 out of 5 stars B-Level Crime TV Script Writing... still 3 stars for the subject matter
Selby documents a stunning multi-million dollar jewel heist in the middle of Antwerp's high security diamond capital. The midnight theft was the real "Crime Of The Century." Despite the sensation of the subject, Selby's straight-forward writing was flat and stuffed with stiff descriptions like, "...an apparent victim of foul play." Question: Who writes like that? Answer: A B-Level Crime TV Script Writer. Criticism aside, there is a special place in my heart for True Crime. The details of the gang heist carried me through several summer nights. My sophomoric reaction is best defended in a stand-up-bit from comedian Dane Cook. Dane bets the guys in his audience that he knows the one thing that they would all choose WAY-OVER SEX. "...Participate in a successfully BANK ROBBERY!!!" He goes on to comically act out the highlights from any one of a thousand heist movies, complete with the line, "Where's Joey?... Where's the frxing van?" Apparently, Selby is also in on the act.

4-0 out of 5 stars "Flawless" Says it All!!
This book was very fascinating read for the largest diamond heist in history. It begins in 2003 where a group of men robbed one of the most ultra-secure vaults in the diamond district in Antwerp, but was it really? You know from the very beginning of the book that at least one thief was apprehended, but you don't find out the fate of the others till closer to the end. Along the way you learn a great deal about diamonds and the diamond trade, along with safes, locks, vaults, security measures, Antwerp, and some history, there was a lot of time spent on the plot to rob the diamond district in Antwerp. It's very well written. It's seemed to be divided into two halves: the first half on how the deed was planned and pulled off, the second half is how it was solved and the actual thieves that were caught. Neither half could have occurred were it not for human error. I would highly recommend this book for it's very interesting plot.
Soon after I read the book I rented the movie called Flawless with Demi Moore and Michael Caine Where on the eve of his retirement, a disgruntled British janitor (Michael Caine), angry over his company's refusal to pay an insurance claim for his ailing wife, persuades an unhappy American executive (Demi Moore) to join him in a jewel heist. The two subsequently hatch a daring plan to steal the gems from their employer, the London Diamond Corp. Michael Radford directs this crime drama set in 1960s London and loosely based on actual events. While I thought this movie was going to be the same as the book Flawless and it didn't turn out to be that way, it was still a good movie.Flawless: Inside the Largest Diamond Heist in History

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
One of the Buy-It blurbs on this book talks about it reading like a big screen movie, but I think that might have been because one of the authors also wrote Blood Diamonds. Instead, this book reads like a riviting Biography episode. And though it usually takes me several weeks to read a nonfiction book, this one only took a couple of days because I absolutely didn't want to have to put it down. There's a very good reason why all the Amazon reviewers have given this book only 4 and 5 stars. My only question is why even think about giving it 4-stars. Truly excellent!

5-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, Exciting and Exquisite!
Until February 15, 2003, the Antwerp Diamond Center in Brussels Belgium was considered an impenetrable fortress. And with good reason as it is located within Belgium's version of Fort Knox: the Diamond District which is secured with vehicle barriers, 24/7 video surveillance, armed patrols, and two police stations. On February 16, 2003, however, the world learned the truth when the School of Turin carried out the greatest heist in history! Flawless by Scott Andrew Selby and Greg Campbell, reveals in exquisite detail how the thieves used cunning rather than brute force to pull off the caper.

For over 27 months, career jewelry thief, Leonardo Notarbartolo, the identified ring leader (although the true leader may still be unidentified), and his Italian cronies planned the job even the Mafia passed on.Posing as a legitimate diamond dealer, Notarbartolo rented an office in the Diamond Center so that he could observe, videotape, and analyze the minutia that would result in the most expensive theft in history. As the authors note:

The slow pace and tedium of planning a heist is something most Hollywood movies rarely depict.Heist films never show the frustration of needing to wait a month or more to get a critical piece of information from the inside man, such as confirmation on the number of security guards who work during the day. They don't show the gnawing fear that something is being overlooked, or that their ideas might not work. And they don't show the interminable hours staring at blueprints and watching videotapes over and over and drawing a blank.

Thanks to Flawless, however, the truth behind the headlines is exposed. With everyday items such as hairspray, Styrofoam, duct tape, combined with precise planning the thieves managed to abscond with anywhere from with a108 million to 432 million dollars in diamonds. The exact figure remains unknown because many of the victims did not disclose their losses.

Flawless is a not-to-be-missed entertaining and exciting true crime book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Amazing story
Unlike other reviewers, I am not going to summarize the book. It is overall very well written. It is a true story that reads like a thriller. I noted a few mistakes or inaccuracies here and there but they have no impact on the overall story. I was disappointed that the authors did not include more speculations (guesses) on how the thieves got access to the combination to the safe. Also the Wired story was on my mind while reading the book. I had found that story while Googling the heist. It is obvisouly a fake that the authors are addressing quite well.

The book ends a bit abruptly in the last few pages and I am wondering if there is a follow-up somewhere. ... Read more

Product Description

What we know of that unique period in American history labeled the Jazz Age has been defined by F. Scott Fitzgerald's piercing fiction.

His short stories brilliantlyrealize an era both exploding with opportunity and seething with decadence. His prose captures the melancholy lacquered over with merriment, the corruption interlaced with the glamour, all refracted through a spectrum of human lives.

Here, Caedmon has assembled an extraordinary cast of stage and screen stars to bring Fitzgerald's early work to resonant life. His characters (some passionate, some comic, some tragic) take on an extra dimension when interpreted aloud by these fine actors.

This collection both honors and enhances Fitzgerald's already irreplaceable position in American letters. Each return listening will bring even more emotional impact to each story.

Superb fiction, superbly read. Even though this isn't available on CD or download, it's still a great choice. Transfer it to the media of your choice. Fitzgerald is a master, and these stories range from the fantasy of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "A Diamond as Big as the Ritz" to the difficulty of "May Day." The cast of narrators includes some of the best US actors around: Blythe Danner, Parker Posey, Martha Plimpton, Robert Sean Leonard, Campbell Scott, Peter Gallagher, Bill Irwin, Dylan Baker. Each seems to truly enjoy the story being read.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this man's work!
I first became acquainted and fell in love with the work of F.Scott Fitzgerald when I read a hardback copy of The Great Gatsby in my early 20s. Since then, I have read Tender Is The Night and This Side of Paradise, so when I discovered this collection of stories by my literary hero, I floated up to the cieling. My favorites include The Diamond As Big As The Ritz and Bernice Bobs Her Hair, and anyone who has not already been introduced to Fitzgerald, either in English class at school or whilebrowsing in a local bookstore, it's not too late to change yourmind, and it is my sincere hope that you will love this man's work as much as I do!

5-0 out of 5 stars I could listen to this over and over
I was delighted to find out that not only were F. Scott Fitzgerald's short stories being narrated on audio cassette, but that one of the performers was none other than Robert Sean Leonard.Scottie is by far one of my favorite American authors. It takes an incredible talent to condemn the life you live in your literature, and when I think how he strived for excellence but fell victim to society, I can't help but pity him.His writing is so delicious to read as well.He has such wonderful similies and metaphors, and is so descriptive I can taste the wine, feel the rain and see the stars. The Jazz Age is one of my favorite time periods and F. Scott Fitzgerald captures it perfectly. You see the glittering side but then the glitter gets tarnished as it must. What is even better about this audio is that one of the narrators is none other than my favorite actor, Robert Sean Leonard (better known as Neal in Dead Poets Society and Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing among other films). His voice is wonderful to listen to, even if you're not a fan of his acting. It's perfectly clear and flowing and it reminds you of listening to your parents reading you a bedtime story. The tape itself leaves you feeling as if you've been on an emotional rollercoaster. There's a nice beginning, then it peaks with conflict, the resolution, and then the end finishes as calmly as it started.Yet you've gained something from it.Fitzgerald has some incredibly phenomenal themes in his work. The odd part is that I usually don't like getting audio books, but I certainly reccomend this audio of The Stories of F. Scott Fitzgerald"It's worth every penny.

5-0 out of 5 stars AN EXEMPLARY COLLECTION SUPERBLY READ
Surely an icon in the annals of American literature, F. Scott Fitzgerald produced a body of work which epitomized the Roaring Twenties. It has been said that his dominant influences were "aspiration, literature, Princeton, Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, and alcohol."Nonetheless, his writing possesses an urgency, a bite, unrivaled by his peers.

Collected in this superb audio are nine of his early stories performed by accomplished actors.Broadway/film actress Blythe Danner reads "Bernice Bobs Her Hair," a narrative inspired by a lengthy letter Fitzgerald wrote to his younger sister, Annabel, in which he offered advice on how she could become popular with boys.

"The Jelly-Bean," read by Dylan Baker, takes place in Georgia.Fitzgerald credits his wife for her expertise in helping him write a portion of this tale involving crap shooting, saying "as a Southern girl" she was an expert at this endeavor.

The talented Peter Gallagher reads "Head and Shoulders," the first of Fitzgerald's story to appear in The Saturday Evening Post.

Also found in the collection are "The Diamond As Big As The Ritz," "Dalyrimple Goes Wrong," "The Ice Palace," "Benediction," "The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button," and "May Day."

This is an exemplary combination of memorable prose and oral presentation, a remarkable listening experience. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Buy It
If you are a widower, just buy the book.Even though it appears to be overpriced (they could sell it for a lot less than the $47 I paid), it still is worth every cent. The insights into the 20 men featured in the book were extemely helpful to me in understanding my own grief. To much of what I had seen prior was aimed at a widow instead of at a man.

I strongly suspect after reading this book you will feel it was helpful in finding your way down your personal path folowing the loss of a spouse. It is not a fun path to be on, but this book should help you recognize some of the issues you may face.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Read for Widowers
I lost my wonderful, beautiful wife of 33 years to cancer. I found a great deal of comfort in reading spiritual and afterlife books and internet websites. However I wanted to find a book about being a widower. There are dozens of books for widows, but very few are written for the man grieving over the loss of his wife. This book had all 5 star ratings, so I purchased it from Amazon. Having read it, I now add my 5 star rating to the others. This is a wonderful book. The real life stories of nearly 20 widowers of varying ages gave me both validation of how I was handling my own life, as well insight into ways that I might try or even avoid. It was like being in a "Grief Group" with all of these widowers without even having to attend a meeting. The reflections and analysis by the authors after each man's story were also critically important. It is an invaluable source for the man who is trying to make sense of the life he finds himself at sea in.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fear Not
When my wife passed away I went to a support group to alleviate the grief.
The support group recommended this book since it is aimed at the man's lose.
Had a hard time finding it since it is no longer in print. I have shared this book with other men and they thanked my for sharing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not for men only
There are so few resources to help us males who grieve, or to help those who would help us through our grief understand what it is that makes dealing with grief so difficult.Every member of my grief group that has read this has found himself in one or more of the twenty grief experiences analyzed. We males are not special, but we are certainly different.I would further recommend Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys by Kindlon and Thompson for an even deeper understanding of why it is the we males have a hard time "getting over it" and finding a normalcy in our lives.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I've read many books since my wife died on June 18th, most I thought would be helpful to a woman, but were of no use to me.I really thought this was a helpful book.Several of the stories really hit home with me. I think I most related to Bill, but I related to Hank, Mark, and Randy also. Some people I could not relate to at all.(Peter, George, Jan, etc.)It was really good that I bought this book. The one thing I didn't like was the fact that nearly all these interviews were conducted several years after the fact, and not in the first critical year.Maybe a few were I don't know. For example Hank's was done 50 months afterwards, and they had to clean it up to make it readable, but what condition was he in the third month? Most of the people want help right when it happens and not a thing that they look for it 4 years after and all.But this is the only thing I've seen that really deals with the men's perspective, and it had a number of different men, it was just a great book. The commentary was fantastic, and was very helpful. I was very thankful that I could buy a book (although insanely expensive - I paid nearly $60) and find that there were other men that I could relate to. That was a great thing and it was worth every penny for me. ... Read more

Product Description
Robbie Young is an ordinary twelve-year-old boy about to drop a bombshell that will devastate his small town family. One day he rides his bike home after school, finds his mother in the kitchen making dinner, and speaks aloud the secret he's been keeping for a year, "Jerry Houseman's been touching me." Robbie has been molested and the Young family will never be the same. From that moment on, the novel unfolds with inexorable power. The story is narrated in four parts: first by Robbie's mother, then by Jerry Houseman himself, then by Houseman's wife Linda, and concluded by Robbie himself fifteen years later, when he has returned to town for a high school reunion. Each voice is remarkably persuasive and utterly convincing, and the result is a novel that is impossible to put down as it is impossible to forget.

When twelve-year-old Robbie Young comes home and tells hismother "Jerry Houseman's been touching me" the lives of both familiesfly out of control. Scott Campbell's first novel is a sometime shockingbut always the insightful and moving story of a sexual relationshipbetween a young boy and an older man. Told from the points of view ofthe man, his wife, the boy and his mother, Touched is neversensationalistic or sentimental. Campbell knows how to tell a story, andhis innate empathy with all of his characters shines through on everypage. Touched might disturb the reader, not because of itssubject matter, but because Campbell understands the human heart and itsdesires all too well. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Personal Touchstone
I first read "Touched" about 10 years ago, having had similar experiences as Robbie when I was a 12 year old boy.Eventually, the book managed to wend it's way into boxed storage in our cement basement.I decided recently to clean out some of the junk down there when I came across this book again.Suffice it to say that very little work was done as I sat upon a box in a chilly corner and reread remembered passages.

While some of the dynamics of my particular situation were different, I strongly identified with the main character Robbie. How he processed what he was going through - both as a child and later as an adult - resonated deeply with me.Like Robbie, I too confronted my mother as an adult (my father since deceased), and asked why I was not protected from the older boy who was essentially a serial child molester that lived next door to us.Unlike Robbie, I was never put on the stand to publicly relive those whispered moments in dark places, nor were any of the other young victims (mostly girls - I was one of the only boys). And while I was relieved by the hushed dispatch of the situation by a "committee" of neighborhood dads, I see now that perhaps the decision not to prosecute did more harm than good.No one ever spoke of it again, and we were left to quietly deal with our secrets in our own way, within the limitations of our juvenile coping mechanisms.

As he reached adulthood, Robbie's feelings of anger towards his mother, his unresolved confusion about the mixture of powerful conflicting emotions from revulsion to reluctant indulgence to guilt-ridden pleasure, are all things that I wonder if anyone could fully understand having not gone through it.Perhaps my personal perspective detracts a bit from a truly unbiased critique, yet the fact remains that these passages were felt on such a visceral level, in no small part because of the talents of the author and his keen ability to so eloquently paint feelings with words.

Touched was a major touchstone for me as I underwent the difficult journey over a decade ago to emerge from the darkness and isolation of the secrets I was forced to keep. The end of the book was particularly powerful as Robbie realizes he was so busy fielding other people's reactions that there never seemed room enough for his own.Likewise, while society in general seems to suggest how I SHOULD feel about what has happened to me, Touched gave me permission to admit how I actually DO feel - to remember how I DID feel when it was happening to me.

Touched touched me.Ultimately, this book helped me reach out across the years to that little boy that was me - to see him through older, wiser eyes, to understand him, to embrace him, to bring him back into my heart - to be whole again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Powerful & Emotional Story!
I can't remember a time when I read a book that made me feel sorrow, anger, pity all in one reading! When I read the "voice" of Jerry, I became so disturbed that there were moments I had to put the book down just to gather my bearings! The ending left me with a feeling of hope for Bobby and talk about a FAST read, also! It's a true page-turner!

5-0 out of 5 stars A rashomon on a crime
A grown man, married and with young daughters, falls in love with an 11 yar old boy in the neighborhood. There is sex between them.It is technically child molestation, sexual abuse, a crime.

Scott Campbell is a very courageous writer.Anyone who can take a situation such as this and give us four different points of view of what occurred (the mother of the child, the molester, his wife, and then finally the child himself once has become an adult years later) and give us a startling insight into what on the surface seems odious is a writer who takes risks.

The characters here are vivid, their voices very different one from the other.Campbell has taken great care in the word usage for each point of view, as befits the very different four personalities telling the story. It is a superbly skillful novel, and an engaging page-turner.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very dificult, but fair, book to read...
It didn't take but two days for me to read through this book. It was very good, I must say. Having gone through experiences sickeningly similar to those written down in this book, I found it entirely easy to relate to Robbie Young and the feelings he had about the molestation both during and years after. But reading through the section devoted to the point of view of Jerry Houseman, the "child molester"... it was very interesting to read that. It seemed as if the "molester" was almost as confused - if not more so - as the child being molested. To read this story in all four different views is very fulfilling. When I was finished, it sort of gave me a sense and a feel of what it was like for my mother, or the "molester", or the "molester's" family, to deal with what was going on at the same time I was dealing with the skeletons of my own closet. I've going to loan this book to my mother just out of curiousity of what her reaction to it will be.

For those who have gone through these sorts of situatons, I recommmend this book completely. Once you read it, you will find yourself looking at your own situations or your past with a somewhat different perspective in mind. I know I did for sure. Even if you haven't dealt with anything of this nature before, I recommend this book for anyone who's utterly biased against pedophiles. Although we can't understand the mindset of a pedophile, this book gives clear description of what goes on in the mind of a pedophile and what ultimately leads them to commit such horrid acts such as the actual molestation of a child. This book also clearly describes what goes through the mind of a child who's grown up living with this baggage attached to him. I recommend this book to anyone really.

5-0 out of 5 stars Open Examination of a Closed Subject
A boy comes home one night and tells his mother the neighbor has been molesting him.

That starts an incredibly open and deep examination of how the thing happened. How much more is involved than a man being evil and a child being hurt. So much more. It is told from 4 separate points of view. The boy as an adult, his mother, the molester, and the molester's wife. Unique. Fascinating. ... Read more

Product Description
When Harry Garrett accepts a commission to paint a portrait of Lindsay and Michael Davenport, neither he nor his clients have any notion of the journey they’re about to embark upon. The basis for a new film by Oscar-winning director Caroline Link (Nowhere in Africa, 2003), Aftermath is based on a true story of lives put profoundly asunder and of the power of art to begin to put them back together again. The film, A Year Ago in Winter, premiered at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars More! I want more!
I will repeat what has been said by so many - this book captured me from the first page. Scott Campbell brings the characters into your den, or your cubicle because you can't wait until you get home, and he keeps them there in your psyche until you finish the book, sadly close the cover, lay it down somewhere and say, "Damn! It's over." I eagerly await his next novel.

5-0 out of 5 stars Consider Aftermath for your book group!
In the last few months I have started a handful of "must read" novels only to have them leave my side by the third chapter. Not so with Aftermath. Scott Campbell captured the essence of a family system caught up in the silences and realities of loss and heartbreak. From chapter to chapter I was held by words, stories, and moments of recognition filled with ache and wonder. Although I did not read Aftermath with others, I would highly recommend it as a group read. Lots to discuss, mull, and consider. Very well done!

5-0 out of 5 stars beautifully written
Aftermath by Scott Campbell is a wonderfully written book in which the characters leap off the page straight into your imagination.I could not put this book down and finished it in three days. The characters completely captured me.I liked them, disagreed with them, found myself to be angry with their decisions, and I worried about them.It is a book that you see yourself in at times, and sometimes find yourself struggling to understand the characters' decisions. It is true to life and a beautifully written book.Well done, Scott.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Deeply Moving Novel
Scott Campbell's "Afterlife" is an extraordinary novel. The premise -- a painter who is commissioned to do a portrait of a brother and sister -- is fertile ground for exploring longing, loss, and finding the courage to move on.The characters leap off the page in their vulnerability and complexity. This is a novel without villains but rather with ordinary, flawed people who are trying to find a way to love in a world that can be harsh and unpredictable.I recommend this book most highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this book!
I was so moved by this book in so many different ways....I cried.I loved the characters, the minute unfolding of their self discoveries, the sort of layering in the juxtaposition of their lives, their mirrorings of one another.I thought, this is just how life is, I know it. They were so distinctly drawn -- unfinished, groping for the next thing.Reading it was like entering into the comfort of a great tale -- one imbued with love, pain, humor, surprise and the small irritations of life. What a page turner!Scott Campbell is masterful here. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars If you had to pick one art book for SF this is it
Just got this as a gift today along with The Art of Street Fighter and I can say this is the better book. Great creative artwork done by fans of the game so much love and quirkiness has gone into this book and the art. Many different styles all unique and fun. The book was way better than I thought it would be by far. Nothing in terms of reading for anyone thinking that this is an art book with a lot of text. There are little paragraphs every now and than but nothing engrossing so if your looking for more than art don't pick this up. One thing I thought was strange ( though don't mind since i main Blanka) is that there is a section of the book that showcases blanka art exclusively. I thought that was cool but didn't understand why it was there and didn't go on to other character as well. Maybe Udon's fav character is blanka and they felt he needed a section of his own ( not many pages. probably like 6)

5-0 out of 5 stars Crazy Art!!!!
This art book Tribute for street fighter is crazy. You can see the characters from the point of view of hundreds of artis all around the world another must have for every Street Fighter fan out there!

5-0 out of 5 stars Street Fighter + Incredible Art = Pure Awesomeness
First of all, this book exceeded my expectations. Not that my expectations were low, I just wasn't prepared for the caliber of artistic talent that this book contains. Although most of the works are fan art, many of the artists are professionals, including comic book artists, painters, anime artists, and graphic designers.

One of the first things I noticed upon skimming through the pages was the wide range of styles. Some of the art is incredibly realistic while others are cartoonish and funny. Whichever the style, every piece is incredible and uniquely its own.

Another nice touch is the occasional passage written by an artist. These passages usually involve the artist explaining his/her connection to Street Fighter and how the game and/or the art has influenced his/her life.

This book is a great gift for fans of the Street Fighter videogames. However, even someone unacquainted with SF can enjoy it. Hats off to Udon and the great artists that brought this book together. This will be on my coffee table for a while!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent 20th SF Anniversary Collectors item
200+ pages of various artwork of the Street Fighters. i could skim through this book for hours at a time. Though toward the end, they OD'ed on Blanka artwork. Blech, not my favorite SF character. The book is solid nonetheless! ... Read more

So as far as Danger Girl collections go this one is right up there with the Absolute Edition which if you didn't get one when it first came out you'll spend an arm and leg on one now. This one is oversized, not as big as the absolute edition but bigger than the standard edition. There are about 20 new pages of sketches, prelims and covers from J. Scott Campbell of Danger Girl art done after the original collection was published along with some pictures of cosplayers dressed as Danger Girls.

4-0 out of 5 stars Presents good overview on the eSOA strategy and plans of SAP with NetWeaver platform
This book gives the reader a good overview and insight on the SOA strategy and plans that SAP aims to achieve with NetWeaver. Also discusses side effects as how SAP involves ISVs, IS and in general the SAP community. Although already somewhat outdated, it still helds valuable information on the thoughts behind NetWeaver as a SOA (or rather, enterprise SOA) platform.

5-0 out of 5 stars SAP's strategy decoded
This is a fascinating book that attempts to decode SAP's strategy and the reader will get the glimpse of impending consolidation and why many software firms such as i2, high jump, etc have put themselves up on sale. Most likely, days of best of breed software companies are over. It is now a platform war where platforms are being optimized. Barriers are being createdto enable higher pricing and fewer IT engineering resources to do the work. Therefore, I believe that companies should evaluate the platform before listening to the consultants; professors; and best of breed companies trying to sell a solution etc. ... Read more

Product Description
The writing of Duncan Campbell Scott has long represented a sympathetic understanding of Canada's Native peoples-perhaps mistakenly so, however, as in his work as a bureaucrat, Scott put in place white paternalistic policies that Native peoples resist to this day. Floating Voice examines Scott's contradictions, with renewed consideration of his best "Indian" fiction and poetry . ... Read more

Product Description

Although he is perhaps better known as a poet, Duncan Campbell Scott's many short stories are worthy of attention for their quiet power and enduring readability. This volume brings together a selection of stories that range across many diverse settings: a typical village of nineteenth-century Quebec, a genteel household in the Ottawa of the 1870s, and the isolation of an Indian village on the north short of Lake Superior, among others.
