Product Description
Set in the glittering, vibrant New York City of 1950, Lucia, Lucia is the enthralling story of a passionate, determined young woman whose decision to follow her heart changes her life forever.

Lucia Sartori is the beautiful twenty-five-year-old daughter of a prosperous Italian grocer in Greenwich Village. The postwar boom is ripe with opportunities for talented girls with ambition, and Lucia becomes an apprentice to an up-and-coming designer at chic B. Altman’s department store on Fifth Avenue. Engaged to her childhood sweetheart, the steadfast Dante DeMartino, Lucia is torn when she meets a handsome stranger who promises a life of uptown luxury that career girls like her only read about in the society pages. Forced to choose between duty to her family and her own dreams, Lucia finds herself in the midst of a sizzling scandal in which secrets are revealed, her beloved career is jeopardized, and the Sartoris’ honor is tested.

Lucia is surrounded by richly drawn New York characters, including her best friend, the quick-witted fashion protégé Ruth Kaspian; their boss, Delmarr, B. Altman’s head designer and glamorous man-about-town; her devoted brothers, Roberto, Orlando, Angelo, and Exodus, self-appointed protectors of the jewel of the family; and her doting father, Antonio. Filled with the warmth and humor that have earned Adriana Trigiani hundreds of thousands of devoted readers with her Big Stone Gap trilogy, Lucia, Lucia also bursts with a New York sensibility that shows the depth and range of this beloved author. As richly detailed as the couture garments Lucia sews, as emotional as the bonds in her big Italian family, it is the story of one woman who believes that in a world brimming with so much promise, she can—and should be able to—have it all.

5-0 out of 5 stars The book is wonderful!!
I was so pleased with both the speed of arrival as well as the condition on my new book (new) and in perfect shape. I loved the novel, Lucia, Lucia and I am anxious for our monthly book club (next Tuesday) when we can all discuss. The descriptions of both people and situations were so vivid. I would highly recommend this book.It is one that I will keep on my shelves; who knows, I may read it again someday.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lucia Lucia
Awesome book.Adriana Trigiani is a great author. This book has it all.I highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Glimpse of Life in 1950s Greenwich Village
This is the first novel that I have read by Trigiani, and I am totally hooked with her writing, and can't wait to get started on Rococo, which is now sitting on my nightstand.

Kit is a young career girl and aspiring playwright living in an aging apartment building in Greenwich Village in the early 2000s. One day, she's invited for tea by one of the older women living on the top floor of the building. Reluctantly, she takes time out of her busy schedule, but has no idea what a treat is in store for her!

The story of Lucia is an amazing glimpse into what life was like for a first-generating Italian women in 1950s New York City. As societal barriers begin to fall after WWII, doors are opened for Lucia, yet she still struggles to balance her desire for a career and independence, with the life her family wants for her which includes marriage and children. The struggles she faces throughout the book are at times agonizing, but it makes you realize just how far women have come in the last 50 years.

Lucia and Kit both learn important lessons about life and love in this dramatic, page turner. Savor every bit of this wonderful book, it really is quite a treat!

5-0 out of 5 stars A must read
This is the fourth book I have read by Adriana Trigiani and each time I have fallen in love with the characters but most especially her writing style. From the first page you are swept up into the lives of these wonderful, passionate, funny characters that makes you just want to keep turning the pages.Ms Trigiani is brillant.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easily Relatable
As an Italian-American woman, I had to pick up this novel. The description is rather misleading. This book is about one woman's difficulty in figuring out her life's path. She struggles between her love for her career and her love for her traditional Italian-American family. Those family values remain the same, at least when you have Italian grandparents anyway. I thought this book was rather somber and not the light, fun read that the other reviewers seem to have found it. Even so, I enjoyed reading about Lucia and could really relate to her story. ... Product Description
America has a glimpse of what some well-known celebrities call their favorite recipes. Over 25 top peronalities, ranging from Andy Garcia nd Janeane Garofolo to Ben Stiller and Mira Sorvino, have thoughtfully contributed their favorite recipes to this special cookbook. In 1997 Lomonaco was appointed Executive Chef/Director of Windows on the World. He brought his cutting-edge American cuisine with him, replacing what had been a French-inspired menu with food that made diners and critics take note. Michael eagerly took on responsibility for all culinary operations at the Windows on the World complex, including the main dining room, the intimate Wild Blue and the boisterous Greatest Bar on Earth. In addition, he managed the kitchens for and oversaw the Windows' private dining menus and operations. During his time at Windows on the World, Michael helped owner David Emil develop the wildly successful Latin Night, which gave diners a first taste of the duo's passion for Latin American cuisine, culture, and music. Latin Night sparked the creation of Noche, with Lomonaco as Chef/Director of this multi-story, midtown restaurant and nightclub featuring the vibrant culinary traditions of Central and South America and the Caribbean. Many former employees of Windows on the World in the World Trade Center were hired at Noche when it opened in 2002. The restaurant recently announced that it was closing in September 2004, and so we look forward to Chef Lomonaco's next culinary venture. In the meantime, you can catch Michael Lomonaco on TV. A former actor who is at ease in front of the camera, Michael is the co-host of Epicurious, the Discovery Channel's popular cooking program. He has also hosted "Michael's Place" on the Food Network, writing concepts and recipes for 140 episodes over three years. Michael has been a regular guest on many late night and daytime talk shows as well as cooking programs including "In Julia's Kitchen with Master Chefs." ... Read more
