Product Description
John Wayne--the man, actor, and icon--remains synonymous with certain American values. He represents conservative political views, aggressive militarism, and a masculine bravado. In film history, Wayne has a place as one of the great stars, perhaps even as one of the greatest actors. This bio-bibliography traces the life and career of John Wayne, covering all his work in the performing arts. In addition to the biographical chapter and a career chronology, the work contains an exhaustive bibliography, an index of fan magazine articles unavailable elsewhere, and the complete 1971 controversial Playboy magazine interview. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Very little information
The writer has some interesting articles, and cast lists, but no meat regarding the films. Other bio-bibliographies have information on the films, such as reviews, tidbits, etc. This book has nothing but the cast lists.Save your money and get a book on Wayne's films instead. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A "Must" for Wayne fans
My wife bought me this book over 20 years ago and it is falling apart from overuse. I always read Eyles' review and background notes before watching a John Wayne movie. He list all the movies in chronolgical order giving us story lines, scenes to look for and general insights into the film and its cast. At the back of the book he lists all of the credits for each movie. If you are not a big John Wayne fan, this book will make you one. ... Read more

Excerpt: John Wayne Glover (26 November 1932 9 September 2005) was a British-born Australian serial killer convicted for the murders of six elderly women on Sydney's North Shore. Over a fourteen month period in 1989/90, Glover killed six elderly women for which he became dubbed "The Granny Killer". Following arrest in 1990, he admitted to the murders and was sentenced to consecutive terms of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. He hanged himself in prison on 9 September 2005. Originally from a working class family in Wolverhampton, England, Glover was convicted of many petty crimes dating back to 1947 for stealing clothing and handbags. He was later thrown out of the British army when these were discovered. Later, he emigrated to Australia in 1956. where he first lived in Melbourne. He had a troubled relationship with older women in his life, especially his mother Freda (who had had several husbands and many boyfriends), and after 1968 his mother-in law, when he married and moved into his parent-in-law's house in Mosman, Sydney. Before John Glover began his killings in the late 1980s, he was a volunteer at the Senior Citizens Society, and was considered among his friends a friendly, trustworthy man. He was married with two children, and lived a contented lifestyle in Mosman. Glover worked as a sales representative for Four 'n' Twenty Pies. Shortly after immigrating from England to Australia, Glover was convicted on two counts of larceny in Victoria, and a stealing charge in New South Wales. In 1962 he was convicted on two counts of ass...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=1068117 ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fresh, witty, and wise!
Dottie Brewer has a lot to say about life's choices, mistakes made, and lessons learned. A fresh, witty, and wise voice, she inspires us to get moving on life's paths, ordinary and extraordinary.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Read...
We can all relate to this book. I loved it. It's a great read.

4-0 out of 5 stars This Week I Read a Really Fun Book...
Ahead of the trend...Brewer's "stream of conciousness" style brings to mind the current focus on opinion style books.Much in the vein of Terri Hatcher's "Burnt Toast" and the like.

This woman's down-to-earth, unjaded look at her world and the world around her is endearing.Dottie's writing style is like dishing with your best girlfriend...she will make you cry and leave you laughing.

Brewer's story is the story of everywoman growing up today, learning as she goes and faced with a comnpletely new set of options and obstacles from those that went before us. Dottie looks at each one and moves through them (from breast implants to abusive relationships), of course hindsite is 100%. Because this is written after-the-fact it allowed her to step back and take a more complete look at some situations...and probably was a little cathartic.

...and then there is that part about John Wayn Bobbitt, inquiring minds want to know!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Suprisingly Wonderful Read
I really enjoyed reading this book. The author really gives some fresh insight to life in her book that is about an unusual event in her life.Don't miss this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars A lot more of a book than just another celebrity tell-all
The title would lead you to believe that Dottie's Brewer's book is all about the numbing ordeal of marrying one of the those people who've had their fifteen minutes of fame and don't know it, but the tales between these covers completely eclipse that small portion of the book. Dottie's story is an optimistic one of how being positive through life's traumas can get you through some pretty bleak times like being married to John Wayne Bobbitt. It'll bring a smile to your face and put hope in all the right places. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great gift for a JW collector who has it all...
I bought this as a gift for my brother in law who is a hard core Duke fan. (He even has a 6 ft life like cut out in his garage) I came across it on accident and thought, "what the heck".

He LOVES it!!! It contains so much more than recipes including history and facts about movies he had never even heard of. What a fantastic find! ... Read more
