5-0 out of 5 stars A golden voice from the past
How wonderful to find this recording by the great Austrian actor, Oskar Werner.Any fan of Rilke or Werner should have this treasure in their audio library. Please note that the readings are in German, so for speakers of other languages, a translation of the poems would be helpful to understanding the words. The feelings are universal and need no translation as Werner is adept at passing the emotions to us through his voice.

This is a true gift and legacy to us from a fine actor, reader, and humanist too soon gone from our world. ... Read more

Excerpt: Oscar Werner Tiegs was an Australian zoologist whose career spanned the first half of the 20 century. Oscar Tiegs was born on 12 March 1897, and died on 5 November 1956. His contribution to the division of the phylum arthropoda into two parts, one including insecta, myriapoda, and peripatus, and the other including trilobites, crustacea, and arachnids, is considered to be an important contribution to zoology. He was acknowledged as having a remarkable ability for apt and beautiful drawings, and as being an excellent microscopist, as having a great capacity for meticulous accuracy, persistent work, and shrewd illicitation of relationships from massive detail.
