Mail review of order
The item I purchase arrived in a torn, rippped envelope that had tire marks on the outside.The book inside, of course, was damaged, with the first five pages having tire marks and holes. I contacted the seller asking if the package had been insured, which it had not.I purchased the book for a gift, which I cannot give in this condition...I'm disappointed in the mail not the seller.Debbe Triplett

This book has several traditional type of afghans and some that are more unique as well.

Timeless Patterns...
I have had this book for years and never had a problem with a pattern.The patterns are great this year as they were 15 years ago.I love to use Vanna's Choice yarn for the afghan pictured on the front and several others.This is the best afghan book I have ever had!

Too many mistakes!!!
I do not know who thinks this book is accurate, but I have tried four and found errors in the instructions; i.e, Cabled Sampler, I have been crocheting for over 30 years and the Basket Weave Block row 2-5 makes no sense.If I am incorrect, please advise.

Vanna's Other Talent-Crochetting!
I saw this book years ago and was so excited to be able to have it in my hands again.I got right to work on some of the patterns and my grandson wants me to crochett a teddy bear for his girlfriend(page 57).The patterns are beautifully photographed.The only negative I have about this book is that it doesn't say what expertise level these patterns are.
Also, if you are a vanna fan, you will love the book just for the photos.The condition of the book was very good but not exactly like new.

great book to have in your stash of patterns
45 patterns in this book.There are only a couple of baby blankets.The rest are full sized afghans.This book contains very "girly" patterns to more "manly" patterns.Good variety of patterns, some of which are unusual.The patterns list type of yarn, ounces, grams, and yardage although the name brand is not listed.Variety of crochet levels are represented.Something for everyone!

This book was the first of a big collection, and it remains one of my favourites. Has gifts for everybody. The projects are beautiful, well explained and with detailed pictures. This book was exactly what I was looking for. I know I only paid for standard shipping but it seemed to take quite a while. Luckily I didn't need it right away. All else was great, pretty straight forward. Thanks!

wonderful afghan crochet book
This is a great book with lots of types of afghans and easy to make.

Nice colors, but disappointing patterns
I own two of Vanna White's afghan pattern books. This was my third.
I found this book "Color It Beautiful Afghans" a disappointment because several patterns were repeated, just in different colors. And also because to create the beautiful "Kilim" afghan on the cover, you need at least one skein in almost every color! Like 40 skeins of yarn. At regular price on Lion Brand's website, that would cost you over $160! At a lower price at Joann's it would still cost you over $130. That is a lot of money, especially in this economy. I felt this book was nothing more than a "sales pitch" for the new yarn.Yes, the yarn colors are beautiful. But Lion Brand would have done better to promote the yarn by showing one afghan pattern with several color combinations recommended to the side or at the end of the patterns. Vanna's kids are beautiful, and sure have grown up since her earlier books.

Pattern Errors!
Although the patterns and colors in this book are beautiful, I am finding my first project (the log cabin style baby afghan) a bit disappointing.The strips that appear in the pattern's photograph are much wider than the actual pattern results.Although I've completed the same number of strips that appear in the photo, my afghan is only about half the length and width of the finished size.I've checked my guage and it's correct, so I fault the instructions!

Although I intend to continue the project until it's big enough, I'm not enjoying having to switch colors so frequently, and I don't think the narrow strips are as attractive as the strips in the photo.

Turns letters, write books, does sit ups - I LOVE HER!!!
I bet that at any given moment, somebody, somewhere, is writing a Master's thesis called something like "I'd Like To Solve the Puzzle: B-Celebrities and Why We Love Them".

From the very get-go in chapter 1, when Vanna tells you how she does her sit-ups then gives you instructions to make her favourite afghan, right to page 190, at the very end, when Vanna shamelessly plugs McDonald's, Spring Air mattresses, and Nestle's chocloate (and including more than 32 pages of photos inbetween!), I thought this book was brilliant and brainless. Apparently, just after this book was shortlisted for the Man Booker in early 1987, some scandalous, unauthorized photos of Vanna were published in Playboy.

Great Book and Great Service
This book shipped quickly and was well packed and in very good condition for a used book

Errors
The very first pattern in this book, a cabled shawl, is fraught with errors! Cast on 89, not 87; Repeat rows 2-9, not rows 1-9. As a first-time cable project, it was extremely frustrating until I discovered that, obviously, those who publish books don't always have competentproofreaders/copyeditors. Thankfully, I'm well on my way to finishing the shawl, but not without repeated frogging :). There are other projects in this book I really like, so hopefully I won't have to endure the same experience.

I really love this book and the other new release Vanna crochet book.They are both easy and real patterns without mistakes.If you haven't tried the yarn she uses before,,,you should also try it out.Nice, stretchy, and thick.Easy to work with.I have only crocheted for a year or so and consider myself a beginner.A lot of patterns out there are hard for me to understand but I really understand most of Vanna's (except the baby booties)....my fault I'm sure.Otherwise a good book for a beginner.You won't be disappointed.

good, but disappointing
First, the good. This booklet is mainly intended to showcase Vanna's Choice baby yarn from Lion Brand Yarn, and does a very good job at that. The color choices in the samples are modern and not cutesy-sweet. The pictures are very nice and it includes blocking schematics for the cardigan sweater shown on the cover.

I have made that sweater, and I think it was a good pattern. The body is crocheted in one piece from the hem up, splitting for the back and left front and right front. The sleeves are just rectangles that attach off the shoulder. Keeping up with 5 colors that change every row was challenging, as was hiding all the loose ends, but I was happy with the end result. Also, it has a very cute 8" teddy bear pattern that I intend to try.

Patterns included are: 7" Baby Blocks, Elephant stuffed animal, Teddy Bear stuffed animal (cute), Granny Square Blanket, Froggie Hooded Blanket (back cover, cute), Shell Stitch Blanket, Mitered Corners Blanket (back cover, could be concentric squares), Circle to Square Blanket, Striped Cardigan (cover), and Baby Booties (back cover).

I have loved the other Vanna White crochet pattern book I own, but I was a bit disappointed by this one. Although it advertises 12 designs, there are actually only 10. Two of the designs are counted twice: 7-inch blocks that with "a b c" charts and again with "1 2 3" charts, and a baby cardigan in girl colors and again in boy colors.

Also the afghans are more "new" for their use of color, not their design. One of the "designs" is a traditional granny square afghan - nothing new there.

Overall, it's a pretty book to add to my collection and I think I would buy it again, but I would try to get it at a lower price.
