Solar Household Energy, Inc. (SHE) recently confirmed that enough sunlight reaches Afghanistan to power solar cookers for people without electricity.
SHE advises private entrepreneurs on how to introduce solar cookers to developing countries and conducts research on solar energy technologies.
Information from the SSE project could also have other benefits.

Shahla Arsala, the head of our Widows' Project, took a trip to Afghanistan and Pakistan in March 2002 to bring help from the Afghan Coalition and the Afghan Women's Association International. The trip also served as a fact-finding mission to see the impact of our work and learn more about what is needed in Afghanistan today. Among the highlights of the trip to Pakistan:
    • We brought and distributed warm clothing and blankets to three refugee camps in Peshawar, Pakistan. We visited five women's organizations that support Afghan widows and other Afghan women. During the trip we established relationships with these groups. All of these organizations are run by Afghan women with the help of some NGOs (non-governmental organizations). We visited more than 10 widow's homes personally and brought them financial assistance. Six of these women are already being assisted through AWAI's Widows' Project. All have been sponsored for more than fives years, since the beginning of the Widows' Project.
We were also able to make a trip to Jalalabad, Afghanistan, with much mixed emotion. The visit included a trip to an orphanage, a medical school for girls, and an agriculture learning school. The Widows Project donated $1,500 to help restart these facilities.

    85. Indonesian Cooking Methods And Techniques For Asian Recipes
process that you might need to know since Indonesian cooking often use AfghanistanBangladesh Bhutan Brunei Burma Cambodia China India Indonesia Japan Korea
    http://asiarecipe.com/indocook.html
    Cooking Methods
    Indonesian Cooking Methods
Indonesian cooking methods are similar to those used in any other Asian or Western kitchen especially the basics such as blanching, broiling, steaming, frying and deep frying. However, there one important basic that you need to know how to prepare. It is how to prepare what is called the basic spice paste. There are varieties of basic spice pastes and they are called basic because they are the seasoning bases of almost all Indonesian dishes. In Indonesia, a saucer-shape granite grinding stone (mortar) and pestle are used. Ingredients are peeled as necessary and sometimes chopped or sliced into small pieces so they would be easier to grind. The pestle is used with a backwards and forwards motion across the mortar until the ingredients are blended together into a smooth paste. If you are using a blender or a food processor, the order of processing the spices is much the same as using a mortar, but in some cases you might need to add some liquid to keep the blades of the machine turning during the blending process. The liquid could be oil if the spice paste needs to be fried or either coconut milk, stock or water if the spice paste is to be simmered. The order to be followed when grinding spice paste ingredients is the hard items first although at most times I like to grind garlic and shallots first. The hard items are dried spices, nuts and tough fibrous rhizomes such as galangal, lemongrass. When all of these ingredients are fine, add softer rhizomes, such as turmeric, ginger and fresh soaked dried chilies. Once all of these are quite smooth, then add ingredients that are full of moisture, such as shallots and garlic. Finally, you add shrimp paste and tamarind juice or any other kind of juices and process to mix well.

    The fight is fierce
(AP) - American-led forces dropped 1,000-pound bombs on Iraqi Republican Guard units ringing Baghdad on Friday and battled for control of the strategic city of Nasiriyah. President Bush warned of "further sacrifice" ahead in the face of unexpectedly fierce fighting. In anticipation of a push on Baghdad, F/A-18s attacked a Republican Guard fuel depot and missile facility south of the Iraqi capital, officials said. Hornets dropped 500-pound satellite-guided bombs on the fuel facility, while other planes hit the missile site with four, 1000-pound bunker-penetrating bombs. Iraq said at least 58 civilians were killed when a bomb struck a crowded, open-air market in the capital and blamed the deaths on American and British invaders.

A new interim government is now in place and a UN peace keeping force is being deployed, while plans for the reconstruction of Afghanistan are being made by western governments, the big international organisations like UN and EU and the NGO community. An earthquake that hit Afghanistan on January 3 was minor, causing very little damage in Kabul. A few people suffered minor injuries. The earthquake had no impact on humanitarian relief programmes, according to ACT members, who are part of the extensive effort to support the people and help rebuild the country. At present aid workers are struggling to meet the basic needs of the of the people who under difficult circumstances also have to endure the harsh conditions of winter. ACT members report that people in remote mountainous areas have no food left and depend solely on humanitarian aid. ACT members continue to distribute food and shelter material to the most needy people inside Afghanistan and refugees in neighbouring countries.

Iron Cooking Pots Help Combat Malnutrition
John Pickrell Iron deficiency, the most common nutritional disorder in the world, is a major problem in many developing countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) currently estimates that a mind-boggling 4 to 5 billion people may suffer from some form of iron deficiency—that's 66 to 88% of the world's population. Up to 2 billion of these people also suffer from anemia, a condition often due to insufficient iron in which blood has too few red blood cells.
WFP photo: F. Mattioli Now, a new study, which tested iron uptake from recipes including Chinese cabbage, adds to the evidence that iron cooking vessels may be a cheap and effective way to fight deficiency of the micronutrient in developing countries. Anemia, which increases peoples' susceptibility to other diseases, is associated with reduced work productivity and economic output. WHO estimates that effectively tackling iron deficiency could boost productivity by up to 20% in many developing nations. The major reason for iron deficiency is the naturally small amount of iron in plant-based foods—such as rice and cassava—which are staples in rural areas of the developing world, says physiologist Raymond Glahn of the USDA Agricultural Research Service's Plant Soil and Nutritional Laboratory at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.

Zionists in the White House "kosher" kitchen are cooking!
Will the Arab and Muslim masses spoil the broth?! By: Ali Baghdadi - Arab Journal, Chicago, October 6, 1998 Something "kosher" is being cooked up for the Middle East and it smells bad! The chief cooks, who have taken over the U.S. foreign, defense and national security policies of the United States, plan to set the Middle East ablaze! The President of the most powerful nation on earth is now in the back seat, crippled and helpless. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Secretary of Defense William Cohen and National Security Advisor Sandy Berger and their Zionist brethren are in full control of the White House "kitchen"! They decide who, what and when things will go into the pot. This new scandal is a theatrical drama for which no one can predict the outcome. Israel and the United States, which co-authored the scenario and will be pulling the strings, will be able to hide behind the curtains. If events go according to plan, Turkey, which entered into a military alliance with Israel for "humanitarian" objectives we are told, will strike Syria, which refuses to yield to Israeli dictates. Though the U.S. has urged the parties to calm down and address "grievances" peacefully and with reason, the American administration has clearly stated that it understands the Turkish position, a diplomatic term which is interpreted as an invitation for Turkey to attack. The Taliban in Afghanistan are working hard to provoke Iran and force her to enter into a war on her eastern border to distract her from aiding Syria, her strategic ally to the east. Pakistan is instructed to rush to the aid of the Talibans, who, with her blessings and support, are controlling most of Afghanistan. It is difficult to imagine that Iraq, which has already been invaded by Turkish troops, will stand idly by. Jordan, which joined Israel, Turkey and the United States in a de facto military pact that was never publicly announced, will be ordered to move its forces north and east towards Syria and Iraq.
