External Links Pullman Kids: Geography: Canada provides pictures and descriptions of various parts of the country. Canada is the largest country (i.e. in area) in the world. It is composed of ten provinces and three territories. It is bounded on the western edge by the Pacific Ocean, on the northern edge by the Arctic Ocean, on the eastern edge by the Atlantic Ocean, and on the southern edge by the United States of America (USA) . The edge running between countries is called a "border". In Canada, the country of the United States of America (U.S.A.) is either called "the States" (as in "We're going to the States for the weekend") or "the U.S." (as in "There's no public health care in the U.S."). If you want to enrage a Canadian then go ahead and refer to the States as "America". After all, Canada is in North America and so is Mexico A popular symbol of Canada is the mountie. A mountie is a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (R.C.M.P.). Their fancy dress uniform is brilliant red as illustrated in the photo taken on Parliament Hill, Ottawa on Canada Day. Canada Day is July 1st and is Canada's birthday. It used to be called Dominion Day.

Alberta Alberta is the western most "prairie province". It also happens to be where my family and I live. Edmonton is the capital city. The Rockie Mountains run down the border of Alberta and British Columbia and extend into the United States. Alberta became a province of Canada in 1905. You can find out a lot of interesting information about the province at http://www.gov.ab.ca/ Free Printable Worksheets: Alberta flag worksheet Alberta map and response worksheet Alberta provincial bird with labels worksheet Alberta provincial bird coloring page ... The Provincial Flag
The Alberta provincial flag was adopted on June 1, 1968. It depicts the provincial shield in the center of a blue background. From top to bottom, the shield shows St. George's Cross, blue sky, snow-capped mountains, green hills, prairie and wheat sheaves at the very bottom.
The Provincial Flower
The wild rose was declared Alberta's provincial flower in 1930. The wild rose is easily found in the province, even in some of the more natural areas inside its cities.

Welcome to Alberta, Canada!
Chinooks, coulees, ancient dinosaur beds, tumbling glaciers, a booming economy, three million people, no provincial sales tax - this is Alberta talking. Hello there and welcome! I'm the western province , the wild one - the one that makes you want to whistle in the morning - whether it's from a jolt of java at a trendy cafe or the view of a sun-kissed wheatfield - Alberta does that to you. Running up the province's western spine are the Rocky Mountains, speckled with hundreds of icy blue glaciers. Sliding off these serrated peaks are gin-clear lakes loaded with bull trout, ancient forests and the tumble of soft ranchlands rolling and stretching into sun-bleached wheat fields. Splice that geography with history, mysterious cultures and magic from the days of dinosaurs to buffalo and it becomes easy to understand why the United Nations loaded Alberta with five of Canada's 12 designated United Nations UNESCO World Heritage Sites. All these gems, and their inherent attractions, change with the shift of Alberta's four distinct seasons. That carpet of wildflowers you hiked in the
