    Geography
The fundamental characteristic of Argentina is the enormous contrast between the immense eastern plains and the imposing mountain range of the Andes to the west. This is the frontier with Chile and it has the highest peak in the Western hemisphere: the Aconcagua, 6.959 metres high. In its passage from Jujuy to Tierra del Fuego the range presents marvellous contrasts, the plateaux of the Northwest, the lake region, the forests and the glaciers of the Patagonian Andes. To the north, Chaco is a forested area which follows the rivers Bermejo, Salado and Pilcomayo.

Located in the northeast region of Argentina, this is a relatively young province, whose name derives from the aborigine word "chacu" refering the hunting system employed by its former inhabitants, there is in this land no more history than that of its
tobas, matacos, mocovíes or pilagás , names of the original tribes or the quebracho exploitation fever, hard wood tree which was almost erased several years ago from their forests.Limited by several rivers such as Teuco , Bermejo, Paraná and Paraguay the province of Chaco is widely known by its hot and wet weather conditions.
In the present the Chaco´s economy is based mainly on the cotton, its traditional component, the forests that dominate the geography of this territory are a great economic resource that provide the wood for many sawmills and carpenters who assemble furniture as real artisans , the algarrobo tree is their primary raw material characterised by its strength and durability, another aspect to count is the diversification of its agrarian production .The province has a low industrial output, but is the heart of the commercial and financial activity of the region, a first sight impression that a visitor can quickly appreciate in Resistencia the capital, an important path in the Mercosur roads.

An introduction Argentina possesses some of the world's tallest mountains, expansive deserts, and impressive waterfalls... C omprising almost the entire southern half of South America, Argentina is the world's eighth largest country, covering an area of 2.8 million square km. Argentina possesses some of the world's tallest mountains, expansive deserts, and impressive waterfalls, with the diversity of the land ranging from wild, remote areas in southern Patagonia to the bustling metropolis of Buenos Aires in the north. Its six major regions are as follows:
This area surrounding the Andes began as a colony of Peru, but today only a few miners and herders occupy this unforgiving region of volcanic peaks and salt lakes. Very little rain falls in Cuyo, though to the east are found the fertile river valleys and subtropical lowlands of the Gran Chaco.
Mesopotamia, a broad, flat plain between the Parana and Uraguay Rivers in northern Argentina, is wet, swampy and extremely hot during the summer. The northern province of Misiones, a more mountainous region nearly enclosed by Brazil and Paraguay, is densely forested and contains a section of the majestic Iguazu Falls. The Chaco
This parched area in the west is part of the enormous Gran Chaco, a region that Argentina shares with Bolivia, Paraguay, and Br

    http://www.hvra.com.ar/enbasicg.htm
    Argentina
    or Argentine Republic,
country in South America, east of Chile and west of the Atlantic Ocean. The total area is 2,766,889 sq km (1,068,302 sq mi).
Latitude is 3,694 km (2,295 mi)
The capital and largest city is Buenos Aires.
    Land and Resources
The Andes Mountains line Argentina's western edge, forming the boundary with Chile. The highest peak, Aconcagua, stands 6960 m (22,834 ft). Gently rolling plains extend eastward from the base of the Andes and descend gradually to sea level.
The Pampa , treeless plains that include the most productive agricultural sections of the country, occupy much of this region. Patagonia , south of the Pampas, is dry and desolate.
At the southern tip of Argentina lie the islands of Tierra del Fuego
Argentina has a temperate climate, except for a small tropical area in the Northeast and a subtropical region in the north.
The higher Andes and Patagonia are cold, while in most coastal areas temperatures are moderated by the ocean. Rainfall is high in the north, and quite low in the south. Argentina's main natural resource has been the agricultural land of the Pampas. Productive offshore deposits of petroleum and natural gas are also important.
