interview links reviews How does Raphael Saadiq make his first-ever solo album, INSTANT VINTAGE, stand out in today's ever-changing music universe? How about by inventing a whole new sound? "It's called 'gospeldelic,'" says Saadiq, the writer-producer behind such stellar hits as Angie Stone's "Brotha" and D'Angelo's "Lady" and the Grammy Award-winning "Untitled," among others. "Gospeldelic is the sound of my music, and it really means all of those things to me. I come from a gospel background, and the psychedelic, and the funkadelic it's in me.

Raphael Perez Wing
Visual Arts Review
The online gallery for Raphael Perez not only hosts his art but information on the artist which assists in understanding his art. Shading, dramatic lights and darks and the color red are a central point of the Perez style. Compositions range from wild colorful statements in abstracts or to some degree primitive form. Better yet a striking combination of the two. Subject matter include; still life, flowers, Paris, men, women, erotic art, the list is endless. Raphael Perez has definite mood and electricity to his work. Consider the image from his "Portraits" collection to the left. Perez has intensity, great emotion, and detail. A stark image conjuring many possible reasons for the emotion shown. In fact several for what the emotion is. The point here is that Perez has real feel in his works, yet enables you the visitor to establish some basis for yourself. Perez has a section on Lions. An apt subject for his style and use of bold darks and lights to create feel and continuity. In the image from his Lion collection at left the strong mood is set by all the artist has in play; color, shading, and imagery.

ANGELS
The answer to the persistent question is "no." Angels are not the exclusive property of the Christian church. They have been a part of many cultures and I look for books that reflect the more ecumenical view of the celestial host. I also look for scrumptious illustrations.
A BOOK OF ANGELS:
Reflections on Angels Past and Present and True Stories of How They Touch Our Lives by Sophy Burnham
This runaway bestseller is as heart opening today as it was when it was originally published. Burnham traces the story of angels throughout history through to present accounts of extraordinary angelic encounters.
ANGEL LETTERS
by Sophy Burnham
In these sequel to A Book of Angels author Burnham has collected the many letters from readers who's own experiences with angels offer divine inspiration.
ANGELS:
A Joyous Celebration Compiled by Joan McIntosh
Artistic renderings and noted quotations examine the many interpretations of the angelic host. Artists Raphael, Cezanne and Van Gogh and writers Shakespeare and Milton are just a few of the masters represented in this exploration of the celestial mystery that is angels.
ASK YOUR ANGELS by Alma Daniel

From the archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel, to the Earth Angel and guardian angels, Daniels reminds us that help is available from the celestial realm. Drawn from historical writings and contemporary experiences, this book reminds us of the ways we can draw strength from angels to reconnect with the lost inner self and achieve goals in relationships, healing, and recovery from addiction.

He was in his garden watering plants when he saw it. He saw the purple, orange, blue, and yellow sunset. That is when Raphael decided to become a painter.
Raffaelo Sanzio, was one of the most influential painters of the Italian Renaissance. He was a master of many subjects such as, archeology, poetry, history, and painting. He became one of Italy's most learned men, respected for his knowledge, architecture, and art. Raphael was born on April 16, 1483 in Urbino, in the Province of Umbria in Italy. His real name was Raffaelo Sanzio. When Raphael was eight years old his mother died. Raphael's father was a talented artist named Giovanni di Sanati. Raphael's father died when he was eleven years old, and he was left with a step mother.
Raphael's father was influential during his childhood. Before Raphael was sixteen, he became an apprentice to the famous artist Pietro Perugino. Between the ages of seventeen and twenty, Raphael painted some of his finest works. At the age of twenty-one, he moved to Florence, the art capital of Europe. There he studied Leonardo Da Vinci and Michaelangelo. At age twenty-six, he was recognized as one of Italy's most famous and creative artists. Raphael was also known as an archeologist. Raphael influenced artists for more than four hundred years after his death.
Raphael's style was to paint portraits and nature. He also painted murals in the Vatican. He used the faces of his teachers, friends, and fellow artists. He also used rich colors in his paintings, to give added meaning. Raphael's work shows his deep admiration and respect for all women.

18. Deanna's World: Reflections Of The Renaissance
Underlines the creativity of the Renaissance by including artwork, literature, historical facts, and specific biographical information. Featured artists include Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and raphael.
http://www.dworldonline.com/ren.htm
The Renaissance was an era of beautiful artwork and structures which flourished all over western Europe. Although it began in Italy where there was always a residue of classical-styled architecture, it might have been expected to appear first in Rome. During the 14th and early 15th centuries, however, Rome's political situation was very unfavorable for artistic endeavor, unlike that of Florence.
The early Renaissance in Rome was rapidly approaching the simplicity, monumentality, and massiveness of the High Renaissance of the early 16th century. It renounced the exploits of the Medieval master-mansions, and defined beauty as fidelity at the expense of all other considerations. Some of the most noted artists, architects, and sculptors of the High Renaissance include Donato Bramante, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
In essence, the Renaissance was a time period in which stunning sculptures, buildings, and artwork flourished all over western Europe. It was one of the high points of humanism and the expression of creativity and beauty of life. Jan Vermeer van Delft: The glass of wine:, around 1661/62
The collection This newly built museum is situated at the Kulturforum. It has about 7,000 square metres of exhibition space. A complete tour of the 72 rooms covers almost two kilometres.
Two of the major sections are formed by Italian painting from the 13th to 16th century and Netherlandish painting of the 15th and 16th century.
The octagonal Rembrandt room enjoys a key position at the heart of the museum. The sixteen works by this artist form one of the largest and highest quality collections of Rembrandt paintings. They are flanked by additional gems of Dutch and Flemish painting of the 17th century. Portraits, genre paintings, interiors, landscapes and still-lifes illustrate certain artists' preferences for particular types of themes.
