NASA Langley Research Center
Ms. Debbie Martinez began working at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) in 1990. Her job title is Computer Engineer and she works in the Systems Development Branch (SDB). SDB manages the unique state-of-the-art Flight Simulation Facilities at LaRC. Her job primarily consists of supporting LaRC researcher community with their particular flight research project studies utilizing the LaRC simulation facilities. This involves understanding their problem domain, formulating possible solutions, allocating appropriate resources, and ensuring that the results satisfy our researcher's needs. " I believe Flight Simulation has a great future, especially now when everyone is trying to find ways to do research in a cost-effective manner. Simulation saves energy (aircraft fuel), cuts down on pollution (aircraft exhaust), and saves lives (pilots can't really crash and burn!) Also, with the use of our simulators, we help to improve the design of new planes of the future so that they are safer and more efficient for all. Thereby helping to make planes more accessible to the general public by making it possible for non-pilots to fly for themselves one day ."

Cataloging Networked Resources in HOLLIS
Revised 2 May 2000
Re-Edited 6 September 2001

Contents: In recent years, networked resources have become an increasingly important part of library collections. These guidelines are intended to assist catalogers in the preparation of catalog records that will appear in HOLLIS catalog and to promote consistency in the database. They were prepared by the Standing Subcommittee on Serials, Series and Continuations of the Standing Subcommittee on Bibliographic Standards and Policy as a supplement to the HUL Bibliographic Standards Computer network resources include any electronic resources that are accessed through a computer network, whether the Internet or a LAN (local area network). Examples are web sites, documents available over the World Wide Web, electronic journals, and online databases, as well as CD-ROMs accessed through a LAN. The term does not include CD-ROMs that are accessed through a stand-alone computer.
HOLLIS CATALOG POLICIES AND GUIDELINES
Staff who catalog networked resources should have a basic understanding of using the network, be familiar with major network applications (e.g. World Wide Web, FTP), and understand the formulation of uniform resource locators (URLs).
