Adams Flight Planning Software for Windows
The database for this flight planning system contains over 13,000 airports in the contiguous 48 states, including all public and private airports with any kind of runway greater than 1,000 feet long. Also included is data on every waypoint, approach fixes, and airway intersections as well as complete data on all Victor and jet airways and, of course, every VOR, everything you need to navigate in the lower 48. The program prints out an easy to read flight plan with course headings, distances, leg times, and fuel burn. It prints on every type of Windows supported printer from a Laser to an old dot matrix. It even allows for climb time to a specified altitude. You can view the flight plan before you print it and it also allows for input of multiple winds aloft data. I originally wrote the program for DOS and one of my clients said he used it for everything from a Cessna 172 to MD-80s. You input the performance data and the route and the Adams Flight Plan for Windows does the rest. The flight planner also has a map display of airports and VORs and you can also display the entire routes of any Victor or jet airway from a given VOR.

    Before I start, you should have a contents frame to the left of this page. If not, click here I have two texts on this site, Cockpit GPS and Small Boat GPS. Both books are meant to explain how to use GPS, especially handheld GPS. They are not meant to replace the manual, but to supplement it. An owner's manual for a calculator will tell you which buttons to press to get a function, but it will no teach you math. The texts are free downloads with a voluntary contribution. I have spent quite a bit of time writing this information. If you find this information useful, come back and sign my guest book. Consider, ego gratification to be my minimum payment. I also have links where you can help support this site financially to help defray the cost of the site and hopefully even support my gadget budget. Cockpit GPS is obviously for flying. Small Boat GPS is a more general text with emphasis on boating applications. However, much of what is in Small Boat GPS is applicable to many recreational activities. Both texts are meant to be read as booklets in printed form. Thus, I have them available as .pdf files to facilitate printing. The easiest way of getting a printed copy is to have it printed at an internet connected copy shop such as Kinkos. I have also translated the files into .html for reading within the browser.
