The Basics
Snowboarding is a relatively new sport starting in the late 1960s. Snowboarders fall into three general categories of riders:
  • Freeriding - Most beginners will start off in the freeriding category spending most of their time on groomed ski trails. Freestyling - A freestyler is the trickster, always looking for a cool jump sight. Big Mountain or Back Country - These are the off-trail and powder snowboarders.
First Day Out
Rent equipment and take a lesson. Most mountains offer package deals with rentals, instruction and a lift ticket. Lessons will give you the basic techniques you need. If you take a group lesson, you will have others to console you and laugh with while you are learning. Learning should be fun. As in skiing, keep your weight low and forward. It will seem impossible to begin with. But once you get it, it's more natural and fluid than skiing. Be determined and stick with it! Plan on boarding for a couple of days, so you can solidify what you learned.

Ville Organisme Beaumont Beaumont Public Health Centre A bike rodeo is being organized by parent volunteers for all grades (K-4) at Beau Meadow School. It will take place Friday June 7, 2002. My role that day will be to teach parents how to check and fit helmets and work with them through the day. Checking children class by class. My proposal is to purchase helmets through a local sports store and to work with the Principal to develop a process to give helmet certificates to needy students. The parents will likely come with their child to the Health Centre to pick up the helmet and have it fitted properly. Children will be given ribbons at all of the events. After participating in all of the events they can then enter their name in for a draw prize.
Brooks Brooks Safe Community Coalition
We would like to do two additional components to our helmet safety campaign this year :
1] We would like to conduct a helmet fitting and helmet repair clinic at the Brooks Mall on June 7 and 8 to correspond with the biccycle skills festival.

'Fun' rock'n'roll returns
July 19, 2002 Posted: 1:48 PM EDT (1748 GMT) NEW YORK RESOURCES Garage Rock Garage Rock Jukebox
  • What is "garage rock"? How does its style differ from other forms of mainstream music? Which bands play garage rock? Who is Little Steven Van Zandt? What is his opinion of the music options for today's youngsters? Group students and assign each group one of the following decades: 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, or 2000s. Instruct groups to conduct research to learn about the type of music that was/is most popular with teenagers during their assigned eras. After each group presents its findings, ask: To what extent did/does the music reflect the culture and politics of the era? Discuss. Discuss the following questions with classmates: How often do you listen to music? How important is music to your life? Why? In which of your classes is music discussed, and to what purpose? Do you believe that music should be incorporated into language arts and social studies curriculums? If so, in what contexts? If not, why not? In what ways can music help people study and understand culture?

New Zealand 2002 (Incorporating LA and The Cook Islands) Monday 12 May 2001 The story begins It all started around lunchtime today with the simple but significant statement, "Suzanne, will you marry me on the 29th December this year." The reply of "Of course I will, it's what I want more than anything," not only made my day, year and life but meant we could plan another holiday. On a serious point I was over the moon but we had to try to top Australia and that would be tough. New Zealand via the Cook Islands with a return via LA was what we came up with. The planning started with flight bookings and chats with others as to their itineraries and then onto the internet to book all our New Zealand accommodation. It was so easy and simple to do and took us a few days. The Cook Islands were booked via an agent and so was LA. If a hotel in NZ fails to have our reservation we can drive to another. Who wants to be stranded on the Cook Islands at 3am. Saturday 29 December 2001 The Wedding It was the best day of my life and I may write of it later, I may just keep it locked in my memory.

unregistered posted 01-26-2002 05:31 PM 2nd season boarding. Just bought a helmet 2 weeks ago. Has already come in usefull. Some of them may look silly but...The one I bought is comfortable and warm. After cathing an edge and landing on my head, it was worth it. It also saved me from a nasty head slap on the ice when I wrecked landing a jump. I will never go again without a helmet. IP: Logged danadane
