There are a variety of resources available for students interested in careers in the environment. Library references, resources and websites offer students an array of options. This page provides links to many of these sites.
The University of Illinois Library collection includes many books and periodicals that discuss careers in the environment. A link on this library web page offers telnet access to the library's catalogs and other bibliographic databases. In your catalog search, you should use the keywords "Careers-environment" and "vocational-environment" to get the best list of resources. You may also have the option of sorting these selections by publication date.
For advice from UIUC faculty members and researchers at state surveys, you can contact members of the Faculty of the Environment The Department of Natural Resources website offers an employment database and job listings for on and off campus positions.
And finally, the World Wide Web has hundreds of pages devoted to the environment and careers. This is just a sampling of the many sites that address environmental careers. Including these sites is neither an endorsement or advertisement for the sponsoring organization or company.

Careers in Natural Resources Work in the outdoors and make a difference! EMPLOYERS
Positions are usually in government agencies or non-profit organizations. Many people begin with a seasonal position to gain experience and get a feel for the variety of opportunities available. These positions often do not offer the full range of benefits such as insurance and retirement, but they do offer greater flexibility and experience that can lead to a better position later on. Summer seasonal positions at Ozark National Scenic Riverways, and other national parks across America, are typically are advertised on the www.sep.nps.gov site in the winter months. Permanent positions open periodically and may be found on the USAJOBS site. Both sites may be used to locate positions nationwide. OUTDOOR EMPLOYERS:
